wir waren schon ein wenig überrascht, dass unser zimmer direkt neben der rezeption lag! nach der dritten unruhigen nacht haben wir dann doch mal ein ton von uns gegeben... leider schade, mehr als schade... ( um 4 wird die lobby gesaugt ab 0530 wird lautstark ausgecheckt etc etc ) das hotel soll **** 4 sterne haben, deshalb hatten wir es gebucht, nach […] unserem empfinden, würden wir eher **2 sterne geben, die damen und herren waren super nett an der rezeption aber das war es dann doch schon! 70/80er jahre style, seit dem wurde wohl auch nicht mehr viel gemacht, schade eigentlich, da die lage des hotels gar nicht so schlecht war. also zum schlafen/duschen ok aber sonst nix Mehr

Die 4 Sterne sind sicherlich übertrieben. Zimmer und Bad sind abgewohnt und ältlich aber sauber. Die Zimmer verfügen über eine einigermaßen funktionierende Küche. Holt man sich das Baguette beim Bäcker um die Ecke kann man das Frühstück sehr privat genießen und sehr viel Geld sparen! Bei reservieren unbedingt Zimmer mit Blick zur Straße buchen. Ist […] zwar etwas laut, aber immer noch besser als der Blick in einen äußerst unattraktiven Lichtschacht zum Hinterhof! Die Lage? 10 Minuten zum Louvre, 5 Minuten zur Oper, 2 Minuten zur Metro. A pleasing experience, great location, lots of must see sites are located at walking distance (10 to 15 minutes). Excellent customer service, staff was very friendly at all times. The room actually was a one bedroom apartment, with a fully equipped kitchen (with dishware and silverware). Perfect for families with children and teens.

Hotel could have used air conditioning. The refrigerator did not work when we arrived and they fixed the next day while we were out. We had room 105. Very convienient but noisy. We had one of the one bedroom apartments. The room was quite big but in such shabby condition. The shower head was held onto the shower with a rubber band! The air cons did not work, the bathroom had black mold, the carpets and curtains were disgusting! All the furniture and equipment was ancient. The lobby was nice, but the hallways outside the room […] smelled of urine. Also, I asked for a taxi for me morning flight to the airport. None was called, so I and my 3 children had to run down to catch the bus by the Opera house, dragging our suitcases behind us. Excellent location though! Mehr

This is not a 4 star hotel whilst it was clean and served a purpose for us, the room was smaller than that of a travel lodge. The bar downstairs is less than 3 foot wide with limited stock, no pumps and limited optics. If you are looking for something a bit more upmarket with amenities then give this a wide berth

This is a good value for the money. Centrally located. 8 minutes' walk from Place de l'Opera where the CdeG bus stops. 2 minutes' walk to a Metro station. The walk to the Seine will take about 15 minutes. Lots of restaurants in the neighborhood and a food market on the corner. On the corner of two narrow streets that seemed to have a lot of motorcycle […] traffic. We had a ground level studio with a kitchenette that was convenient. The staff was very cordial and welcoming.There was a slight smell of mildew in the bathroom. No way of knowing if other rooms would have the same. Second, because of room's location on the ground floor, noise from street traffic was noticeable, even with windows closed, but traffic died down in the night so it was not too bad for sleeping. No central A/C. It was hot when we arrived and they wheeled in a portable A/C that worked fine, but you had to vent it by hose to the outside, so the window had to be open and traffic noise was more noticeable. Front desk was very helpfull for our short stay (3 nights). Hotel needs some renovation but is good for short stay. We didnt use kitchen except fridge. Location is prime - steps to Opera.

The location is very good. The bathroom was good but the kitchen was a big disappointment. No tea or coffee, or even a wine glass. No dishwashing detergent or even a dish cloth to wipe up spills. Had to boil water in a saucepan with no lid. The pull out beds were extremely uncomfortable and the air conditioner was very noisy. The hotel is in a great location situated near the Opera house which serves as a hub for buses that go to the airport as well as Paris' major tourist spots. The room we stayed was decent in size, the carpets were a bit worn, the bed was basic and the bathroom was clean up to my standards. The room has an oven and fridge and we can tell the prior occupant […] cooked their food to save since the room smelt food when we came in. We just opened the windows to air it out and it was fine. One peculiar thing to note is that the hotel is located in a one-way street and only one car can pass through, so when we arrived with large suitcases, four cars and a bus were behind us and had to wait until we safely got our luggage and ourselves into the entrance of the hotel. Everything was wow. We had a junior suite which gave us access to level lounge - meaning full day availability of tea/coffee/soft drinks etc PLUS evening snacks in addition to the morning breakfast. The Residence Metropole Opera was rated as a 4 star hotel here on Hotels.com and on the plaque on the hotel. That is one of the reasons I decided to stay there. It was the same price as another hotel that was rated at three stars. I chose the Metropole because it seemed to be a better value. The hotel is ok, the room was good sized, by European standards. […] But the property was not up to 4 star standards. The carpet was old and dirty. There was dirty grout and missing grout in the bathroom tile. I am not a professional hotel judge, but my guess would be that this is a two star hotel not a 4 star property. When I took a bottle of wine to my room I asked the gal at the reception desk for a cork screw. She said there should be one in the room. I went back to my room and looked again. I could not find the cork screw. I went back to the reception desk. To her credit she did try to find a cork screw that I could use. But when she couldn't find one she said that I would need to go purchase one at a local store. Luckily my daughter located the cork screw in a drawer below the television, no where near the mini kitchen. One would think that a 4 star hotel could find a way to open a guest's wine bottle. Overall, decent size room, only a moderate value, and definitely not a 4 star property as claimed. Mehr

Although the front desk staff was charming...always...and the hotel relatively clean...and the water hot with good pressure....NO ONE could sleep in what they called a bed. It was a folded out love seat couch with the zipper cover used for the bedspread. I've lived in Paris, stayed in Paris and I know that in general hotel rooms are small...this was […] impossible, we had to stand our suitcases (we only had two roll-ons) on top of the tiny desk which also held the tv. The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful, Our room just felt very old, like the carpets and paint and everything was old, but they did clean the room every day, I think if they got new carpets, new tile in the bathroom, painted the walls the place would feel much cleaner and updated.

The hotel is in a superb location; safe, central and a stone's throw from metro station Quatre Septembre. We had an apartment for 3. The lounge area had ample space, the bedroom was just right and the beds comfortable. Some people may find the general style a little dated, but this is typical of Paris. The key factor is comfort, and price of course. […] The rates of this hotel in such a prime area are reasonable. We were in Paris when temperatures were minus 8, so we were very pleased that the heating in the appartment was so effective. Lots of hot water too. Four of us (2 couples) stayed 2 nights in late December and it was perfect. Had a lovely 2nd floor corner apartment, clean and roomy, high ceilings and beautiful big windows. As we were warned it is dated and could use some refurbishing but overall no complaints. Friendly, helpful staff. Affordable. Excellent location, close to the Louvre, Metro, restaurants. […] Only negative - the bed in the bedroom was comfortable but the fold-out in the livingroom was terrible. The Hotel was in a great location to sight see, you could walk about anywhere. The only bad thing was it was pretty uncomfortable beds, it felt like sleeping on the floor. Overall I give this Hotel a 4 out of 5, and would recommend it to couples, and singles. It would be tight for families with children.

The staff were very welcoming and hospitable and were happy to explain things to us. The rooms are a little the worse for wear but fairly clean and we had clean linen every day. We also had a small kitchenette which had everything we needed for making our own meals, and a partition for privacy from the main room, since our teens were travelling with […] us. The hotel is within walking distance to everything and we were able to walk nearly everywhere within 10 minutes. It was a Christmas and we had a lot of trash which was promptly cleared away every day. Our only complaint was the noise, but were in the centre of Paris and on the first floor. Nice hotel in a great location (nice and safe neighborhood). It is only one block away from a metro station, 5min walk from the opera and 10min walk to Louvre. Good affordable French cafes in the neighborhood and a whole bunch of japaneese and chineese cheap cafes. The wondows in the room do not look into the major road, so it is not noisy all night. […] Nice kitchen but I would suggest to add a microwave (there is an oven). We had planned on staying 4 nights. When we arrived we were put in a first floor corner room. It had three windows, no A/C and right by a busy street corner; we might as well been on the street. They put us in a second floor room which was no better, no A/C and very noisy. We left after one night. Hotel staff was nice.

It is an OK hotel, with relatively roomy accomodations. Needs updating, but is not too bad for Paris standards. Service is good, location is good, a little difficult to drop your luggage off if you have a car. It is rated as a 4-star, but it is more of a 2 1/2 by north american standards, however there is nothing wrong with it. It has a small kitchen […] that can be helpful for breakfast. If this is a four star property, we can't imagine what a three star or less might be....while hotel has a good location to Metro (although on a smaller line that doesn't connect to much without transfers), there's constant noise from traffic (scooters mostly), and the rooms were tired and a little worn--e.g. nobs off cabinets, grungy kitchen area, old […] dark bath, lumpy pull out.......that said, you don't go to Paris to sit in your room...so this hotel does provide a safe, clean enough, central location. I chose this hotel for its location and the cooking facilities as I'm on a restricted diet. The cooking area was a little tired and there wasn't a kettle, but I was able to make the food I needed. The bathroom was well appointed and clean, with lots of toiletries. I didn't expect the sofa bed to be very comfortable, but I slept for over 8 hours easily […] and there was little noise from other rooms or the street. The staff I met were all very helpful. I arrived before my room was ready, but was allowed to have a wash and brush up before I went out for the afternoon. The location is great - near the Louvre, Tuilerie gardens and the Palais Royal. Great central location and one bedroom apartment was very large and well equipped, especially considering the great rate I got through Hotels.com. Overall decor of the hotel was a little 'tired' and I found it reasonably noisy outside at night. The hotel is in a perfect location, 10 minute walking distance to the Louvre, around the corner from the Metro and great restaurants. The staff was helpful and very friendly, the room decor was outdated, but the room itself was completely functional and for the most part comfortable. No complaints here!
