Howard Johnson Pasadena - Pasadena

The A/C was incredibly loud. Had to sleep with the window open to get some type of breeze. I didn't ask for it to be looked at, however. Everything else was great for the price and location.

The Hotel was okay, a little small, but fairly quiet. I prefer to have a little better quality of Hotel when I travel. I may not choose this Hotel on my next trip, however I will go through Hotels.com to secure another hotel. They also did not have an exercise room, which I like, and the Breakfast was a little sparse in choices of stuff to eat.

great stay, great price

The front desk did not pay attention to my request of an upper floor in a quiet location when I reserved the hotel, therefore, they put me on the ground floor which was noisy and smelled like cigarrette smoke. Otherwise, not bad for the price. Will probably not stay there though when I go back next week.

Although some renovations, when I entered my room (308) there was this undefined smell that I later recognized as bug spray.The door to the room was bent and there's lots of daylight on side and bottom. I did not feel secure. I was awakened in the morning by a short scream followed by thwacking noises - I can only imagine neighboring room was dealing […] with roaches. Bathroom large but dingy because of low lighting level. I had booked for 4 nights but left after one, afraid of bedbugs. Coupons on the front desk were outdated. This hotel seemed not to have the same qualities of all the other Howard Johnson. It felt like an old hotel, not up to date in some things, coming into the room was a bit muggy.

This hotel was great for us it was close enough to LA without being in LA. It was safe. The only problem would be people can smoke on the balconys outside your rooms and the smoke would end up in your room it wasn't nice to come back to. The staff were great very helpful and we had a good breakfast every morning but go early.

We have stayed several times at the Ramada on Colorado Boulevard and were never really happy with the place. This time I found the Howard Johnson Pasadena and we were delighted with the room as well as the service. The room had recently been updated and the bathroom has a beautifully tiled shower. Very close to CalTech for out of town visitors. Allow 45 minutes to travel to/from LAX.

The best way to describe it is "you get what you pay for"! We went on a family vacation and stayed at the Howard Johnson in South Pasadena for 5 nights. We wanted a suite to have a little more space for all of us. Found a room at this hotel for a very reasonable rate. The problem was the room was below average at best. Carpet was dirty. AC didn't work. […] Cable went in and out. One of the remotes didn't work. And it took until day 2 to figure out that the hot was cold and the cold was hot in the shower. That said, I will give the staff credit that they attempted to remiddy our concerns after we brought them to their attention. Although the room rate was a reasonable, I didn't feel we should have to stay in a room with the issues it had. Mehr

The hotel is a great place for a reasonable price. However, I would not recommend staying here if you are taking the bar exam if you have a hard time concentrating with a lot of noise. I was there while taking the bar exam, and the cheap walls have no insulation to absorb noise, because I had to wear both swimmers' ear plugs and ear muffs (that I use […] for the firing range) to block enough noise from the television and conversations from neighboring rooms to try to study. It was a hassle that you should try to avoid, because the frustration took time that I should have been using preparing for the next day. Mehr

My boyfriend and I stayed here in order to avoid having to drive back home to SD after a Kings game. We checked in hassle free, were upgraded to a suite, the key cards worked (always a plus because I cannot tell you how many times they don’t) and it was a quiet place to stay. The only bad thing I can say is the room needed a little extra polish. The […] furniture looks worn and there was graffiti on the pull out section of the desk. I was very pleased we were upgraded to the bigger room; I can’t imagine how small the regular rooms are. All around it was a good place to stay for the money. Mehr

All staff members were very courteous and helpful. I was attending a convention in Pasadena and had shipped some items ahead to myself at the hotel. They were waiting for me when I checked in and the front desk attendant even helped me carry them to my room. The room was clean and comfortable. You can't beat this hotel for price and service.

This is an old motel but everything that needs to be upgraded was. The decor is dark and 1950's, at least in the room, but still a nice flat screen TV too. The bed was comfortable. The stairs to the second floor are at one end and the stairs to the third floor at the other. The elevator worked fine but was also slow and old. Clean, roomy and accomodiating

The hotel is clean, comfortable and inexpensive. Staff is very helpful. My only suggestion (and it's minor) would be to upgrade the towels.

Our room face to Pasadena city college.In the morning I and my daughter we take a walk in the college.That's fell very good.The hotel is old and not large.But the staff is kindly and our room is new.

Great value. Comfortable and friendly staff.

While this hotel had a great price for a suite with king and queen beds, the overall maintenance was horrible. There were quite a few things that needed repairs and the front desk stated that these were newly renovated rooms. I always base my hotel stays by customer reviews and this hotel had great reviews. But I won't stay here again.

Stayed here overnight for party in Pasadena. The room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. The bed was super comfy. Location is central and easy access to Old Town. Great value for the money!

Generally nice in the room, looks like public housing from the outside but personally dont' think it matters. The entire stay was pleasant.

The hotel staff was fantastic. We had many questions about traveling around the area and they were there to answer questions on traffic patterns and which areas to avoid at which times. They even had great restaurant suggestions.

In a very quiet location. Near coffee shops and restaurants, and a 15 minute walk from the Allen train station. Conveniently priced and clean, will stay again.

I stayed here for 2 nights while my house was being renovated. It was convenient and clean and the staff was very helpful. I would definitely stay here again or recommend this hotel to visiting friends and family.

Hotel says the rooms are remodeled but not all of the rooms are remodeled. The only reason we stayed here is because of that, and when it came to checking in, we only had the option of a suite (which is what we booked) that wasn't remodeled or a regular room that was remodeled. We paid for a suite and werent even going to stay In it because it smelled […] like an old dirty room. However, 1 hr later after we got settled in "remodeled room" the front desk person offered us the remodeled suite since someone had checked out. It was a very unpleasant experience going through the hassle! overall, the remodeled rooms were nice. Mehr
