Tradewinds McLeod Holiday Apartments - Cairns North

Apartment was very tired, and the cleanliness was bad. Dust build up everywhere and bad smell in kitchen. Location was good close to esplanade.

Unfortunately air conditioning was not working and it took reception staff to acknowledge there was a problem before moving us to another room. Also there were charges for everything including fresh towels, tea coffee etc which seemed unnecessary. All that said we did enjoy the pool.

This place epitomizes the word average. There is nothing great about this place nor is there anything horrible. Our floor was very dirty. It wasn't visibile dirt or anything obnoxious but after walking around for half an hour, the bottom of my foot was black. Also had a few cigarettes in the cushions of our couch and neither of us smoke so I question […] how well things are cleaned. Location is fine. It's a 15 minute walk to a decent grocery store or you can go to the terribly overpriced convenience store a few minutes away. Pool was nice to swim in and check-in/check-out was pretty easy. I will probably never visit Cairns again because we live so far away but if we do come back, we probably wouldn't stay here again. It wasn't a bad stay but it wasn't great either. We just wanted a place to sleep that was clean so the room was what we expected based on ratings we reviewed before we booked. Good 2 bed apartment, with separate living area. No problems with the accommodation at all. The front desk was often unmanned, while the staff serviced the apartments. There was a 25 minute walk to the centre. Overall pleased with our stay

I stayed here with my 3 children aged 23, 20 and 16. It was adequate for our needs as everything was covered but this is not the place for you if you need easy access to the centre of Cairns or any kind of luxury. The owner/manager was helpful especially when it came to booking trips. There was a shop near by too for immediate needs. It was a good 20 […] to 30 minutes walk to the main leisure area of Cairns and just less to the large supermarket. We had a balcony room overlooking the pool. The place was quiet and clean. There was a full size cooker as well as a microwave and a dishwasher. The washing machine and tumble dryer helped too. There was a range of cooking implements and at least 4 of everything e.g bowls/plates. These did not necessarily match. There were additional charges if anything was damaged. Pictures flatter the rooms. For a self contained apartment, the kitchen was a let down. Everything was old and in need of replacement, crockery was a mish mash of parts. Hotel was a fair way away from everything so a car or cab is required.

The staff greeted us when we arrived, after having to phone them to the counter. The beds - 2 singles were on rollers on a tile floor and would not stay in one place had to ruin a pair of shoes to stop the sliding, same with the double bed. Very poor. The lounge 2 x 2 seaters were uncomfortable and did not inspire to be used therefore a relaxing end […] of day was not had coupled with lack of sleep from the beds. The brochures in the office were 2008 which we didnt see when we started to book trips, so what we thought would cost us 160.00 ended up being 200.00 and so on. The internet can only be used between 9.00 - 5.00 that is if the staff are in the office, most often not. The staff were pleasant enough, but the experience could have been better. Mehr

Smelly bathroom, itchy sofa and one roll of toilet paper regardless how long you are staying, bed sheets changed every ten days..... But location and daily rate is fine, full air-con and fans work fine too.

hotel was very clean and tidy and airconditioning was ideal in every room, staff were very helpful and was close enough to the main centre of cairns, i would have no hesitation in reccomending this hotel.

The premises is located within easy walking distance of all the things a young family needs. The room was well fitted out and all quite new and very clean. The staff are friendly and warm and made us feel very welcome. The ability to book tours, taxis etc via reception without added cost was warmly welcomed and the staff are very informative as to the […] 'value' of tours and inclusions. They also had a good knowledge of the local area and were happy to answer all our questions. Many thanks to Wayne, the manager, who couldn't have been more helpful. the hotel is only 5mins by car from the airport and the same to the city. excellant location . and being on a secondery road the traffic flow is very good and not to nossy . the whole apartment is quite large. and the pool is a good sign. yes we do recommend the trade winds and will return

The managers were very helpful. The apartment was very comfortable and clean. It had the added bonus of an in room washing machine.

no service , at all !! the only think they was intrested in was selling tours / trips to people and when i said to them that its way cheaper if i book it directly with the company his attitude changed to a negative 1 , i.e not willing to borrow me a hoover/ vacume cleaner and not really being helpfull, hotel was also outdated and you will not need an […] alarm to wake you up in the mornings , the (garbage) bin men do that for you !! all in all i would of rather paid the extra $1000-2000 usd and stayed somewhere way better , TOTAL DISSAPOINTMENT :-( stayed here for 3 weeks with my 3 small kids and my wife ,, NEVER EVER AGAIN!! ps wireless internet was tediously slow ,, Mehr
