Really enjoyed our stay at esplendor. Would definitey recommend. We were told by other travelers in panama city that for the same price they got a small basic room. Ours was a 1 bedroom suite with kitchen --it was a condoloft- high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows.

The hotel room was very big - apartment style - with kicthen, work area, living room, bedroom, 2 bathrooms + washer & dryer. The lighting in the room was not enough and on top of that, among the available light sources, some of the blubs were burnt out and light switches did not work so it felt a bit dark. Most taxi drivers do not know of this hotel even though it is the tallest building in El Cangrejo/Bella Vista area and so it might not be easy getting to the hotel. I found the Esplendor a very comfortable place to stay. Spacious room with great view from the 27th floor. Helpfully and friendly staff.Great location within the city. Near supermarket, resturants, shopping mall, casino, varity of stores all within walking distance.

They have to many hidden fees.Every person going to visit your room even for 20 minutes they charge you 50$ and they charge tax on it. They dont have a GYM and pool is so small you can"t swim

The hotel was very clean and the hotel staff very friendly and helpful they also speak English good. It in a safe walking area with plenty shop and restaurant in the area. I really enjoy my stay and i would and will choose and recommend this hotel again.

A colleague and I booked a two-room suite, only to find upon arrival that there were no such rooms left. The extra bed they sent to the room was extremely small and uncomfortable, and no apology or discount was offered. While the hotel was nice, the service was terrible, and even though it's just a year old there was clearly maintenance needed.

I was somewhat leary about some of the reviews that past guest had made. There were some good reviews as well as some negative ones. Despite all, I decided to take a chance on the hotel. What a smart move. The rooms condos were very spacious and well done. I stayed on the 37th. floor (3701) & had a view that was breath taking. The hotel provided free […] wi-fi as well as a computer with a printer for those who didn't have a lap tap. I took advantage of the spa service as well as the restaurant. Both were well worth the money. If you try dining @ the restaurant you must try the taste menu paired with the wines. It left me with a smile. Overall, I loved my stay at Hotel Esplendor. For a reasonable price, we got a beautiful 1 bedroom suite with a stunning view of the city, modern amenities, a super luxury master bathroom, and even a second bathroom. But the hotel was missing a lot in terms of service. First of all, the hot water in the shower was almost non-existent in the morning. […] Secondly, the service, while friendly, was inept. We asked for a wake up call on 3 different mornings and never got it. We also signed up for a tour of El Valle, which was a joke. Our "tour guide" barely spoke English and didn't even know how to get there! Finally, the phone system was messed up, making it impossible to place a local call. Finally, they messed up our bill and tried to charge us again despite having paid the price in full on Hotels.com. Bring your reciept with you!!!! The hotel was beautiful with a great location in the financial district and in the City. The Hotel was clean and comfortable. However, the kitchen did not provide silverware or plates. In addition, the service was mediocre and some of the staff was not as helpful as they should have been.

Spent 3 days there last week. My room was a 600ft condo, complete with kitchen, office, living room with TV, powder room, separate bedroom with TV, closet, chest of drawers, glass shower, two sinks, and private toilet - all with high end finishes. My […] last dinner consisted of a 7-course tasting menu with accompanying wines and absolutely splendid service. A must if you're visiting Panama. The hotel also had a wonderful masseuse, Elvira. The only thing I found extremely lacking was the service, and the fact that when you spoke to staff in correct and fluent Spanish, they refused to reply. Overall we had a nice stay at the Esplendor. We stayed in a 2 room suite that was very comfortable (good beds, but otherwise cheap furniture). The staff was extremely accommodating and friendly. Would definitely stay here again.

It was Ok Hotel. It has a good location but it does not have facilities in the hotel. Like a computer center, a gym , a swimming pool. Very nice view.

I moved in Esplendor hotel to celebrate my birthday, i warned receptionist about it several times that i would like everything to be perfect. 2. the bathroom door in my room # 1301 was absent (there was just no door) 3. my used glass remained dirty on the kitchen for 3 days i stayed in the hotel 4. the second day i had to ask for towels as there […] was none after so called (cleaning up my room) 5. though hotel has 3 or 4 parking floors in the building, guests do not have a direct access to it, so if you have a car, you have to pay 1-2$ for valet parking every time you come to the hotel during the day.... i had to do it 3-4 times a day.... 6. i had flowers with me, but my request for a vase was ignored as i was told that the hotel didnt have a single one..... 7. for bathrobe i had to ask for 3 times when the last time i mentioned the broken door, so only after that they've sent me a kit with slippers Hope the administration will pay attention to the quality of service of their hotel Mehr

The hotel was very nice but the reception was not extremely bad. We waited for about 20 minutes to register with the receptionist who was busy on his computer and ignored us completely. When another regular guest arrived asking why we were waiting and assuming we were booking in a large group we told him that no-one was helping us to get our room key. […] We were just ignored despite having paid for a room for two nights. We arrive early in the morning and the check in was only at 3:00 pm. They tell us to make a city tour until waiting. When we came back, there were no room avaiable for us ( 4 people and only one room with one king bed). We stayed at this room with an extra bed (3 sleeped at the king bed). But first they gave us a private room, so I had to move after […] I was already sleeping!!!! They brought the wrong luggage, so my husband has to go down and look for ours. The problems we encountered with the Hotel Esplendor include, but are not limited to, the following inconveniences: -The 2 bedroom suite we booked was not ready on arrival at 8pm, nor were any other rooms, since they had not been serviced due to a “lack of staff”. After waiting approximately 30mins they gentleman on reception suggested we went down […] stairs for something to eat while he tried to resolve the situation . We understood this to be a complimentary gesture, but the hotel insisted that we paid for this meal when we checked out, saying there was no record of such an offer. We refused. When we returned to the reception area there was no change in the situation and we were eventually offered two separate rooms : myself and two teenage daughters in one room, with my husband i in another room elsewhere. The following morning we were advised that a room would be available at 10a.m. We packed our suitcases ready for them to be moved to the new suite and left the hotel. When we returned at 3.pm the suite we had been allocated had been given to someone else. After another endless wait , and frequent requests to speak to the hotel director/owner and despite the hotel not being full and having plenty of rooms available we were shown a very dirty suite 19 hours after our check-in. We waited a further hour for a clean suite to materialise. This suite had no pillows or towels,crockery, cooking utensils or cutlery despite at least 5 requests. We obtained a hairdryer, iron and ironing board on the 4th day. The four of us shared 6 coat hangers for the duration of our stay. - The safe did not work, but was eventually repaired. - The people next door had a party until 2.30 am on the first night in the suite,there was an even noisier party the following night which resulted in security being called . Esplendor was probably built targeting long term stays (15 days +) as rooms are very large and have kitchen, microwave & fridge. It is located in a quiet area close to banks and only 2Km away from a nice shopping mall (Multiplaza Pacific). It has an excellent french restaurant in its lobby and a couple other options at a walking distance (Libanese, […] Sports bar & a Casino). Continental breakfast + eggs & pancakes are included. Gym is basically useless as it's two only treadmills are broken. Swimming Pool is just for leisure and lacks umbrella's so you better wear sunblock. Service is nice & friendly. Mehr

The rooms are huge - really huge and well decorated contemporary style. The location is great and near many decent restaurants. Breakfast is included - it is ok. It is best to just catch a yellow taxi down the block. The breakfast was OK. However, the breakfast room could not handle the crowd at rush hour. The rooms were spacious and clean but they seem to have a shortage of towels. The main restaurant at the hotel was fantastic (open for lunch and dinner only)

Great hotel excellent views of the city, good restaurant and within walking distance of the water front, restaurants and big shopping mall. Short taxi ride to old city and the canal museum. Some of the staff speak english and they are all very helpful.

They don't know how to run a hotel...no bottle openers in the minibar, no hot water in the shower, and the building is leaning to the SW (I know that because shampoo bottles roll across the floor and the dresser drawers always come open...gravity always wins.) The bar/cafe was never open. Stay someplaceelse, you'll be happier.

This hotel was spacious with great views. The location is in a good area, however, the street is very noisey with cars, honks from every vehicle, and some party noises (none of this was the hotel's fault). The food in the hotel basement was quite good, however, the breakfast was only average. I would recommend this hotel.

VERY UNSAFE!! Stayed at this holet from hell in the first half Nov. 2011.We woke up to find a stranger in our room at 1:00 AM at night. Very, very frightening and shocking, the worst thing you could imagine happening to you on vacation. Room doors don't double lock form inside the rooms. Hotel management (Daniel) was unconcerned and unmoved by the sense […] of violation we felt. They admitted it happened, but offered no explanation as to how or why. Hotel management did nothing to make amends for this offense, as if it was a regular occurrence and no big deal! As if to say "It happens, get over it". It was absolutely the worst hotel experience I have every had, at a hotel in over 30 years of traveling and staying in hotels. The arrogant way in which we where treated by the hotel after the incident was equally as offensive and disrespectful as the room violation. We left feeling as if we were of no value to them and they cared nothing about us. They felt they had our money already and there was nothing we could do. Hotel Esplendor could learn a lot about customer service and customer satisfaction from Hotels.com. Hotels.com should drop Hotel Esplendor from its list of hotels immediately. VERY, VERY UNSAFE!! Overall, great hotel especially if you are going to be staying a while. Location is also very good with several restaurants and a supermarket within walking distance. As with most hotels in Panama the quality of the materials and finish work is not the greatest, but superior to most I’ve seen in Panama.

The Esplendor is already my favorite hotel in Panama city. I have stayed four times on business trips. It is practically new. Don't think of the Esplendor in terms of big lobby with sports bar and six restaurants kind of hotel. This is not what the Esplendor is about. The Esplendor has a small footprint, and the lobby is typical of European Hotels, […] small but elegant. It is 48 stories high though, and rooms start on the 22nd floor, great city views. What makes me come back to the Esplendor is the room. Which is NOT a room, it is a full size one bedroom apartment, full kitchen with brand new stainless appliances, living room with 40in. tv, one and half bathrooms! Granite counters, and dark wood floors. The king size bed is very comfortable, another 40in. tv in the room, and the full bathroom is huge. No bathtub here, which I never use, or jacuzzi. You get the idea, You will want to live here. The breakfast room is kind of warm for some reason, but its ok. Breakfast includes all you need, not fancy, but good and fresh. The Hotel has valet parking, and I have never been charged for it, it is a really nice perk, i hope they never change that because its one of those things you appreciate and remember. The hotel is very centrally located, nice area, safe, many restaurants and other hotels in the area, grocery store two blocks away. Im not sure if I would stay here with my kids, no burgers, sandwiches, or pizza on site, as far as i can remember. Mehr

I wanted to love the Esplendor due to its lovely, spacious and modern loft-style rooms and good location. But this new hotel is already in need of maintenance. The wood floors in my room were buckling and the luxurious rain shower only managed to trickle out cold water. The hotel restaurant was great but it could it could benefit from having a "bar" […] menu for those guests who don't want to eat a full meal. Finally, the gym was tiny and unusable. I expected such a nice hotel to have a modern gym with functional equipment. All in all it was a good place to stay but I hope it makes some necessary improvements to live up to its name. Mehr

Generally not very friendly and not service minded, but fine hotel. The reception staff are young and lack experience and drive. I did not see them smile one single time, so maybe the working conditions are not good? They promise: Cookware, dishware, and utensils - but NOTHING! Ok. So here is my contribution. We just got back from a tour and decided to stay at the Esplendor Hotel in Panama City, Panama. We decided to try something a-little different this time. Let me first highlight the pros; followed by the Cons; and ultimately my personal preferences.  Pros: Nice big suite, Pleasant staff, Nice pool, Central air, Close […] to All, Complimentary breakfast, Very safe Neighborhood, $35 Airport Hotel Shuttle Service, Hotel owned taxies, available 24/7 for guides and transportation, In-house restaurant, Hotel cell phone loaner but Pay per use, free Wi-fi, and Two Bathrooms. I need to elaborate on the cons, so there are no misunderstandings.  So here it goes;  Cons: 1) Although the wi-fi if free, it is very unreliable. During our stay, some days it worked and some days it did not. Luckily for me, there was a near by free Wi-fi location. Also, the Wi-fi  only works in the lobby and not in the rooms.  2) Although the pool was open, I did not see anyone go in during our entire stay and the bar outside the pool area, was always closed.   3) The telephone system in the entire hotel was down for 2 days. I was told that they were having network problems.  4) No curtains in the shower nor bathroom. Which felt weird since anyone staying with you can see you from the living room and bedroom.   5) To get hot water you need to turn the knob to the left and let it run for a few minutes. knowing this neat little trick ahead of time would have saved us fewer cold showers.  On a personal note:  I am very used to the resort, all inclusive, private beach atmosphere. Panama city is far from this, since the beaches and resorts are hours away, so the people staying in these hotels are mainly business people. I was told the waters near the city are contaminated. The resorts are far from the city and in most cases you need to take a domestic plane to get to them, like  Bocas Del Torro or David. Not only is there a building under construction next door that work begins early and ends at sunset. The front desk is slow. The rooms are apartments; modern design and furnishings. this is the only plus. The hotel portends to be a luxury property and the books in the social areas want you to think that. But on check out I apparently left my credit […] card on the counter.The front desk never called the taxi driver arranged by the hotel ( which costs $5.00 more than any taxi); I called the hotel from the airport (left on hold for 10 mins... and was told it would cost me $35 for a taxi to bring me my card. A real up scale hotel would have done the right thing and sent the taxi with my card. Well that is Panama for you.. customer service is not a fore thought. So instead of taking care of the client the hotel now has this unfavorable comment on it's hands. I won't be staying there. Mehr

We arrive after 5pm and It took us two hours to check in, because the room was not ready. The stove was not working. There is not hot water in the shower and the rooms do not have a bathtub. You can not sleep after 6am, because there is a construction next to the hotel. Also the breakfast is serve afer 7am; to late if you have to leave early.

Great suite. Big enough to have meetings and attend clients. It has two separate rooms and two bathrooms. However, it Needs utensils. It doesn't do any good to have a full kitchen withou dishes, utensils, etc. Poor breakfast. I used a cup for coffee and was not replaced. I broke a glass that wasn't replaced either. After reading many reviews for my first trip to panama I chose the esplendor. I was not disappointed. It's very low key but large and in a good neighborhood. The staff was very friendly and welcoming and they could tell I was a gringo so spoke English immediately. The room was HUGE and comfortable. Free wifi was a plus. The room had a kitchen but […] I didn't use it this time. Great views from the window (they gave us a 15th floor room). Lots of shops, restaurants and catholic church within walking distance (and casino). I cannot complain. Everything was fantastic. Great price and free breakfast buffet! The only things needing any improvement (and this is being picky) were that the shower didn't drain well, the wifi conked out our last night and service in the bar was too slow. That's it. Although a little hard to find, once we got there they gave us a room near the top, breathtaking view of Panama City, These are actually condos, with kitchens, We stayed there one night on our first annivesary, and loved it very much, one problem was we wanted to stay a second night and they could not book it although the place seemed half empty.
