Die Ferienanlage ist sehr großzügig und liegt direkt am Atlantik. In der Anlage gibt es zwei Pools, Tennisplätze, Shuffleboards, Grillplätze, Beachbar, Entertainment, uvm. Unsere Unterkunft war groß, gut ausgestattet, aber leicht schmutzig. Dies kann aber auch vom Hurrikan "Irene" herkommen. Great beachfront property, wonderful service, lovely pools, but we couldn't sleep a wink because of the noise from the neighbors. Plus the bed was very hard. Overall, the location made it worth it, but I would NOT stay there again due to the thin hotel room walls.

Stayed here before several years ago. Very unhappy then, and unforetunately nothings changed. Master bedroom was missing a TV, had cable hookup available, just no TV! Matress was hard as a brick, and the condensing unit was so loud it woke me up everytime it came on. The MB bathroom had no shower, just a delapidated jetted tub that looked like someone […] found it at a dump. Water heater in a unit for Max occupation of 6 didn't allow 2 adults to take a decent length shower. Won't be back a third time! Mehr

It was very nice. We thoroughly enjoyed it. I stayed there with my husband and two daughters and we had a lock out unit that we shared with my mom, my sister and her two children. It made it very convenient that we were that close yet still had our independence.

We visited friends in the area of Duck for the New Year’s holidays. I decided to book with the Barrier Island Station Resort, which offered a very attractive off-season rate. We enjoyed our condo with upstairs master suite and view of ocean and pool out one side and sound out the other. Had bedroom with twin beds we didn't need. Drive to Duck was a bit farther than Nags Head area but we liked it better; very pretty, clean beach and pool; friendly helpful staff. Resort clearly has seen better days but was perfect for 5 days at the beach with two 12-yr olds. The size and layout of the suite were great. The ammenities were wonderful. The pool is definitely family friendly. The noise level at the pool and of the neighbors made it hard to relax. The decor was VERY outdated. Parking was terrible!

Our family had two one bedroom apartments connected by a laundry area and hallway. One apartment had a full living room, dining area and kitchen whille the other had a mini fridge and microwave. This is a beautiful resort on the Outer Banks of NC, with the ocean and the bay in very close proximity. Their indoor and outdoor pools are great. Friendly staff. We had a lovely time.

This isn't a hotel; it's a time share. In the description, it advertised a kitchen. The "kitchen" was a sink, a toaster, and a microwave. There was a hole where the fridge should have been. When I called to inquire about the situation, I was informed that I was going to have to move half way through my stay because someone else wanted my place. No one […] had mentioned it to me, and it was a bit annoying to have to pack up and move to another unit. I found it odd that they hadn't thought to tell me in advance. Presumably, had I not called, they would have just knocked on the door the next morning and told me to get out! The new unit was larger and had a fridge, but the toilet leaked, and the tub was broken. (The maintenance man was super nice, though, and did his best to be help.) The walls are thin, and I could hear eveything going on in the next unit, and I mean EVERYthing! There are many nice placces to stay in the area; I'm not sure I'd stay here again. Mehr

Our family decided to leave after only the first night, forfeiting our payment for the second night. Although the exterior of the resort buildings were maintained, the interior of our room was very outdated with dingy off-white sofas, very uncormfortable mattresses, torn & ripped window screen, and a whirlpool tub in the bedroom in which the exterior […] was peeling off. We had requested a 4 star room and a ocean view via hotels.com and we had a view of the parking lot and other buildings. We asked the gate guard if we could switch rooms about 30 minutes after we arrived and he just stared back until I repeated the question. He said the front desk was closed and he could not do anything. This was around 6pm. There was no indicationn when we rented this place that it was not really a hotel, but a resort that required you to wash your pown dishes, strip your bed and make sure laundry was in a neat pile. There were no services, and we had to wait more than fifteen minutes to get in throught eh gate because we were not given a code and had to wait for someone […] to let us in when they returned to gate offcie. I found the hotel to be better than expected. Although it is older than some and shows some wear and tear, my unit was clean and comfortable. The place had everything I needed to make my stay enjoyable. Access to the pool and the ocean were close by. I would come again.

This was a wonderful stay. Our ccondo was spacious with a wonderful kitchen that really saved on eating out. The beach is absolutely beautiful. The rooms were slightly dated but this did not in any way detract from our relaxing stay.

Sadly disappointed. Rooms were not well appointed. LIke a very old Holiday Inn. Creaky floors, poorly lit and dingy. Room was clean, but not hotel-clean. Security guards at check in were rude, lazy, unprepared, and smoked right in my presence. Property is in a good location, but amenities were not stellar. Office staff was friendly and helpful. this unit should never have been used. the ac did not work. romotes to t a dvd had no battiers and were programed wrong. three days to get things fixed. toilet only flushed solids after three tries. bath tub did not drain. water upto your ankles when taking a shower. the ac was fixed the second day, remotes the third. bathroom promblems never. we are […] owners at this resort and this is the worst unit w have ever stayed in. if i was looking to buy i would have walked away. the manager of this property should be embarassed at having anyone stay at this unit. you should not have to call or talk to someone more than once to have a problem solved. they have put money into new walks steps and other outside problems. For us, it was great... peace and quiet and the chance to be away from it all close to the beach with LOTS of space (we were only two) and at a great price for Spring Break. We read a lot of complaints about the quality of upkeep, and were very pleasantly surprised... yes there are things that still need attending to, but we were very comfortable and […] relaxed throughout our stay, and enjoyed two floors, a working kitchen, good views, etc for the same cost as a highway motel shoebox. We only learned there was supposed to be internet on the morning we left, and I am not sure it was really there...double check this if it matters to you. Cable TV was fine for rainy morning. We went to the OBX for a wrestling tourney but also to celebrate my fathers B-day. This place was perfect. Plenty of room and the two seperate quaters we were able to enjoy quiet time seperately. Can't wait to go back next year!

The location was very good, and it was great for us to be so close to the beach. The view was amazing from our top-floor unit. This was a time share unit in desparate need of upgrading. The carpet was badly worn and the decor was dismal. The kitchen counters were stained and cracked. The cooking utensils really needed to be replaced - the frying pan […] was so warped that it wouldn't sit on the burner without wobbling. The dishes were clean but so stained that it was not pleasant to even eat off of them. The unit itself was roomy downstairs but there was only a tiny window in the whole upstairs which included a second bedroom and full bath. The heating system would blow both hot and cold air randomly so it was hard to keep the unit comfortable - much less at an even temperature. A good remodeling would make this a nice place to stay. This is a time share resort. I was there in the winter (off season), so there was absolutely nothing going on. Off-season price was great. Walking up 3 flight of stairs is not for everyone. That was where my unit was.

We enjoyed our stayed at Barrier Island. Even though we were there two weeks after Irene, the debris had been cleared. We had no problem with any of the remenants of Irene. The staff was very accommodating. It is located close to shopping in Duck and is about a 10 minute drive to Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills which are definitely worth exploring. […] The Outer Banks is a great place to vacation: quiet, peaceful, serene. This is not a hotel, but a condo of sorts. And it is not oceanfront. Our stay, however, was pleasant. We did not anticipate the number of steps we had to climb to reach our room either. We were on the top floor which only has access through multiple levels of stairs. The other complaint I have is the lack of view of the ocean. wish that the hotel was cleaner (but not bad), smell a little bit better, you can always buy candles, that's what i did. BUT OUR ROOM WAS VERY NICE, IT WAS NOT ocean front, but you can still see the other side of the ocean from we're we were, so not bad at all. It was a nice stay for us, worth it for the money that we paid for 3 nights.

This complex is over 25 years old, and while located in a very desirable location, needs plenty of work. Some units have been upgraded, and improvements have been made to exterior buildings and amenties,, but other units are in bad condition. You take your chances. Three story buildings, no elevators. It's actually a timeshare community that rents over hotels.com when units are not in use. The front desk personnel were underwhelming (if not outright hostile) and the office hours are short - I would not recommend landing there for check-in after 5pm. Since I was curtly informed that they are a TIMESHARE, and not a HOTEL, when we arrived, I wondered […] how they were putting up rooms for sale on a hotel web site. We were also moved to another unit for BIS convenience 1/2 way thru the stay. (Pack up everything in your beach room and move across the property- not terrifically accomodating.) Those were the lowlights, but there's a lot to be said about other features - great beach access, in-room jacuzzi, indoor and outdoor pool (which, sorry to say, was not 'pristine' by any stretch of the imagination) tennis courts, arcade, steam room, snack bar and such. Be prepared for some extra cleaning duties upon checkout. Sheets and towels are provided by the timeshare. Rooms are spacious and work well for small families (one or 2 kids at most with parents in a one bedroom). The very best feature is the location. Overall, we liked it enough to return, because it's location-location-location and the place is passable. Mehr

The rooms are actually one, two or three bedroom condos located in a private gated village on the beach in Duck. There is more than ample room for family with fully equipped kitchens, comfortable living room areas, many have jacuzzi tubs. There is an indoor and an outdoor pool, tennis courts, beach snack bar too. We only had a weekend, but would have […] loved to stay longer. Note: if you only have a weekend you may be asked to change condos during your stay. However, the courteous staff helped us to be comfortable during the two weekends we stayed. Great location, walking distance toshopping and restaurants. Indoor and outdoor pools as well as beach access from resort. Units have full kitchens which is great if you want to save money and cook. Grills are also available for outside cooking.
