es ist zwar nicht das neueste ABER sehr sauber, freundlich, wunderschoene Lage, gegenueber ein safeway, ein ordentliches fruehstueck bis auf den amerikanisschen kaffee..... wir waren sehr zufrieden und werden auch bei unserem naecchsten aufenthalt in tahoe dort verweilen......

Service beim Check-In war sehr nett, man gab uns Tips was man auch abseits der Touristenpfade machen kann. Die Zimmer sind sauber aber hellhörig - was nichts unübliches ist... Das Hotel liegt nur ein paar Gehminuten vom Hafen entfernt und direkt ggü einer kleinen Einkaufspassage.

The owners are really great.....perfectly willing to answer any questions and provide help to make sure you enjoy your stay in the area and that you'll come back and stay with them again! Simple, but nice continental breakfast in the morning was a plus. There are good restaurants within walking distance though the gondola to Heavenly is not within walking […] distance. And don't try to park at the gondola as it is REALLY expensive. The Heavenly blue buses are the way to go to get to the mountain. Gracious service. Comfy bed loaded with plush pillows. Excellent shower (tall enough for 6ft tall man to stand under comfortably). Lots of hot water and a thermostat wall heater to take any chill away. Family run business with a delicious complimentary breakfast on weekend mornings. They offered hard boiled eggs, English muffins, peanut butter, bagels […] cream cheese, cinnamon bread, coffee, orange juice. It felt like home! I've been on a few business trips to tahoe, so I have been experimenting with different hotels. Alder Inn is one of the best, if not the best. Chad was great at making me feel at home. Would stay there again on my personal trip.
"Absolutely fantastic"
There's no better place to stay. The hotel is in a great location. The rooms are nice. The hot tub is awesome. But, most of all, the innkeepers are the best. They clearly love what they do. They're knowledgeable and give great advice. At the same time, they're not overbearing. We'll definitely stay here again the next time we go to Tahoe.

Don't let the "older inn " look deter you , this place is very nice, very clean and updated. All the rooms have been tastefully renovated and decorated by the owners and really make the place stand out. The owners are also very friendly and helpful like real innkeepers should be and serve you a good breakfast.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The owners were nice enough to check us in early which was very helpful. The rooms are very comfortable and lovely. I would've like to have more counter space/open space to put toiletries/etc; the counters were a little crowded, but with nice amenities. We didn't use the pool or hot but, but they looked nice. This is my second visit to this location. My friend and I try to get away each year for a girls weekend. We are welcomed at the desk with a smile and very friendly owners. The weekend breakfasts are great and the rooms are beautiful. We took advantage of the complimentary bike rentals and had a great time. We will be back next year!

What a charming hotel! Chad and Leyni have done such a wonderful job adding their own special touches to this sweet little place. Chad was a great help at suggesting places to dine and sightsee. He provided me with a map and showed me the directions to get where I needed to go. He addressed me by my first name each day he saw me out and about and was […] always making sure that I was comfortable. I enjoyed sunbathing and eating my lunch out at the pool. It was very well maintained and the cabanas are wonderful for lounging in. The rooms were very comfortable and I felt like I was staying in my own house. The basket of toiletries was great-- toothpaste, razor, lotion, shampoos and conditioners (for men and women!). The bathroom fixtures were new and I loved the fact that the shower head had some good water pressure. The pillow top mattress made the bed very comfy. There were also extra blankets available. I definitely felt like I was part of the family staying here. If I come back to this side of the lake next year, I will definitely stay here again!!!! Mehr

The Alder Inn met our expectations though it was pricey over Labor Day weekend. The couple who owns the hotel does all the maintenance. Therefore, some cleanliness issues especially in bathroom and with linens were not up to par with good hotels. Location and improvements made by these new owners are the key plusses. Having continental breakfast only […] on weekends - not on weekdays - was confusing & a bit disappointing. Since the room in question was booked the day before arrival on Labor Day Weekend (the second largest summer weekend celebrated in the city), you did pay a higher rate as a last minute booking. Our prices are actually very competitive with hotels of our quality and similar ammenities. As advertised, we serve a continental breakfast only on the weekends, we are sorry you did not read this in the description of our hotel. Tahoes most famous breakfast location is one block away and we like to help support businesses on Ski Run Blvd. As far as your linen issues, we use high quality towels and 400 thread count sheets. As with most modern or "good" hotels, we do not launder bed linens everyday or change out towels that are not left on the floor, this is for water conservation. Maid service is performed daily by the owners, this includes making beds and tidying up the room. Showers, tubs and toilets are not scrubbed daily due to guests personal toiletries in the bathroom. If you desired a full room cleaning and fresh linens everyday we would have fulfiled your request, but you never asked or commented. As the owners, we choose to clean every room and personally launder all linens to assure the perfection that most guests appreciate. We choose not to hire a maid because we do not want to loose the personal touch we establish with each guest.

As a world travel (50+ countries), it is rare to receive such attention and care at a hotel (large or small). My wife and I escaped to Lake Tahoe for four days and were lucky to have discovered this GEM of a hotel. The price was extremely fair and the service and commitment our well being was off the charts. "Alder Inn was good overall"
We weren't able to check in a couple of hours early, and the walls were noticeably thin. Otherwise, everything else worked out fine. Pool was good, weekend breakfast was good, and room was very clean. Would be happy staying here again.
That is correct, our check-OUT is at 11:00am, so of coarse your room was not ready when you arrived very early. Our rooms are always ready at our 3:00pm check-IN, and we do allow early arrivals if rooms are ready early. Your reservation confirmation would have stated the check-in time. As the owner of the hotel, not being able to check in as early as you arrived is not a very fair complaint.

really happy i read the reviews before staying in the hotel, they were spot on. the owners are amazing and the hotel is in the perfect location for walking to restaurants and the beach. would definitely stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay at the Alder Inn. The young couple who runs the place are so sweet and friendly and hard workers. Up early and to bed late constantly fixing up the units to look great. They both have very stylish taste and the rooms are fun to be in. Give them a try. I think you will be pleased.

Clean, cute, quiet and a nice location. Convenient to the lake, to Heavenly, to the store, to (what's left of) the strip. Proprietors were great and the complimentary bikes were the way to go. Very nice!
"Decent Hotel, Charming Owners"
My husband and I enjoyed lazing by the pool. on the giant cabana beds and going for a bike ride on the free beach cruisers. Hotel was quaint and comfortable enough. Our room was unfortunately adjacent to the stairway which meant that we were awakened by footsteps as people walked up them in the middle of the night. Plumbing was also quite loud.

Me and my husband stayed here for our 5th anniversary. This hotel is so cute, cozy and romantic. Me and the husband just loved this place. The owners are so nice and really go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. The ice machine was down, so they brought us buckets of ice. They also gave us a quick run down on what there is to do in Tahoe […] and provided us with a map. If we had any questions, they answered them! Also it was real close to the casinos. It was only about a 3-4 minute drive to the casinos. We were only one block away from the marina, which we walked to. They provided the best little soaps, shampoos, razors, shower gels, Axe hair gel, even make up remover for us women! Very clean, and the bed was even more comfy than the one I have at home! Im dissapointed that we didn't get to use the pool and hot tub though, we were just too busy, it looked so nice. I just totally loved everything about this place and we already said that we will be back next year for the 6th anniversary. Mehr

This hotel was an older property but recently updated. The rooms each had a cute and quirky theme. The couple running the hotel couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. We will definitely stay there again if we return to Tahoe.

We chose the Alder Inn because of it's "mom & pop" appeal. The room was clean and the location was perfect. We were able to walk to several of the tourist attractions, even with our small kids. There are several restaurants and shopping areas close by as well. There's a Red Hut restaurant nearby that offered great waffles and other breakfast fare...several […] times better than IHOP! Hotel was nice but not one of your finer hotels, however, the hotel owner was very sweet and gracious. Hotel room was clean and comfortable. The bed, on the other hand, could have been a little more comfortable but it was by no means horrible. I have a fluffy bed at home. Go figure. Hotel room had some nice little complimentary items; hot tea, cocoa, […] travel size lotions, body wash, shampoo, razor, coffee, breathe ease nose strips. Thank you for choosing our hotel for your stay. It is very difficult to please everyone on matress firmness, our beds have brand new Seally Euro Pillow Top matresses that were purchased in April 2011. We are a very quaint inn, on the boutique side, not a corporate chain.

The Alder Inn was such a quaint comfortable Inn! The owner's made us feel welcomed from the second we walked through the door. It is the perfect location to do everything in Tahoe and walking distance to most! The decor was so much like home unlike the sterile every room being identical feel at a chain hotel. Their pool and hot tub area was beautiful, […] like out of a decor book! We can't wait to go back when the weather is warmer so we can relax by the pool. "A little slice of heaven at Heavenly"
For something advertised as a 2 star hotel this property was far from all of the other "motels" flooding the South Lake Tahoe area. The property has been recently renovated and the room is a quaint size but has all the necessary amenities to be comfortable away from home. The owners will help you at the drop of a hat with any questions or problems you […] may have. This place exemplifies the warm, "mom and pop" experience that you won't get elsewhere. I've stayed at about 10 different hotels/motels in Lake Tahoe, including the big names, and this was the most pleasant. The owners bend over backwards to make you feel like their personal guests. We went for the long weekend and felt very welcomed at the Alder Inn. The owners are so sweet and helped with any questions we had. I was offered my choice of room and ended up in a nicely decorated red room. They've done a lot to add extra touches to the room to make guests comfortable. i have to say Chad and his wife are awesome at taking care of all of your needs. when we needed new towels they were more than happy to take care of it. when my girlfriend and i got into the hot tub Chad put took care of the hot tub cover and even turned on the bubbles for us. the room is completely re-done they have obviously took a lot of time and […] effort to making these rooms nice as you can see in the pictures. you cant beat the price with the comfort level with we had Alder Inn.
