No soap/shampoo, no hair dryer, one towel. Shared bathroom could prove problematic, if busy. Other than that, it was a pleasant hotel with a most welcoming staff. Music from the Friday night jazz night (+ food; $20 cover) was quite good, heard through the floor/walls, but it ended near 2 a.m. Not good for those with early commitments on Saturday morning. Welcoming family atmosphere the host Debbie is a very friendly warm person. The Bed and Breakfast provides easy access to Manhattan via the subway system. All in all we enjoyed a good time and would visit again in the future. I can only echo what the other reviewers have said about Debbie, She is one of the lovliest people i've ever met. This was my 7th trip to New York, but my first time in Brooklyn and it was the best. The house is beautiful and the area is relaxed and friendly. I'm a female travelling alone and I felt perfectly safe and the only rude people or unpleasantness […] I encountered were in Manhattan. It was the worst bed and breakfast I have ever stayed in. There was no customer service or courtesy. The breakfast, what little there was of it, was stale and days old. For how much I paid, I was extremely disappointed and have no intention of ever staying at that place or recommending it to anyone.

The B&B was lead by a lovely, jazzy lady who organizes different events on the ground floor (jazz evenings, dancing...). However, it was not noisy and the street was also quiet. The B&B was near a metro station with an easy access to Manhattan. I recommend this B&B to people who like to experience a taste of Brooklyn!

It was incredible. Debbie is incredibly friendly and her friends too. A must do to learn to know a little about the real brooklyn culture.

It's such a great experience to stay in new york and feel like you're at home, not in a hotel. You really feel like a guest in a home or like busy roommates with the other guests- greeting eachother as you pass eachother in the halls. Debbie, the keeper of the place is the sweetest, most welcoming woman- greeting you with a huge smile and hug- she knows […] everyone by name. I missed out on the 'community' aspect because of my busy schedule, but on my last day I got a taste of what I missed out on. The breakfast downstairs acts as a nice social moment where guests get to sit down, meet and chat - Debbie introduces people and we all had great conversation. Friday night is Jazz night in the parlor, which I didn't get to attend but heard everyone had a great time- food, wine, new friends, wonderful music and a huge slice of culture- I'm really sorry I missed out, this is something that most places that you stay just don't offer- it's a one of a kind experience that I would go back for. I was traveling alone- a woman, and I read the other review.. not so! I felt perfectly safe in the neighborhood at night. I was coming home sometimes after 1am on the subway, it's just around the corner from the subway stop so it's super easy to stumble home when you've been out late enjoying the city. The neighborhood is full of history, culture, flavor and it's an exciting hot spot to be a part of- some incredible restaurants too. Je tiens à vous informer de mon séjour bref au Sankofa aban bed and breakfast à Brooklyn bien loin des expériences décrites sur le site. Première difficulté : trouver un taxi allant à brooklyn , il n ‘ aime pas car revient à vide Arrivée possible de 15 à 18 heures : c’est un peu limité Arrivée : chambre de propreté douteuse, couvre lit datant de plusieurs […] jours, draps usés et de qualité médiocre dont la propreté était limite Une serviette de taille moyenne pour 2 d’une odeur ... vétusté de la literie , des meubles Salle de bain et WC commun sur le palier On parlait d’une baignoire spa, je l’ai pas vu. Pas de chauffage avec un vitrage d’époque, heureusement qu’on était au printemps mais bon quand même un peu frais après la douche. Accueil par une américaine euphorique, on comprend pour combler le malaise. Alentour sans intérêt , on se sent blanc c’est aussi une expérience... Accés métro et alentour : on n’est pas à l’aise quand on est une femme avec une ado fille. Le petit déj il n’y a rien à redire mais bon il faut aller chercher un verre et une assiette ... Quartier douteux ou l’on rentre des 18 heures pour être en sécurité, aucun intérêt touristique à part de prendre le métro via Manathan Il vaut mieux payer un peu plus et être bien!!
