The hotel was just average. Nothing fancy, but very nice owners.

The exterior of the motel is much nicer than the interior. No TV service in my room. No continental breakfast as advertised. Parking is atrocious. I was not at all happy with my accommodations.

Second stay in two years and definitely gone down hill. Shower wouldn't drain, Window curtains falling down. Needs some major TLC.

The room was ok but the first night it was cold in the room. I turned on the thermostat but it took until the next day for the room to heat up. Everything else was fine.

The town of Grass Valley is beautiful. It is my home town. The bottom floor of the Motel was filled with what looked like newly released convicts and druggies. Scary. The towel were the size of a hand towel no wash cloth. The decor was of the 1950's . The receptionist was not at all courteous. Very bad experience. You get what you pay for. I knew that going in. It was basic and functional..............but I had only a hand towel. I'm sure it was an oversight, but I did not realize it till I got out of the shower. Highlight: the shower. So much water pressure it was wonderful.

Outside was nice but the room was a bit ratty. Beat up door, mold in the bathroom, dist filled cobwebs above the heater. Again, the price was right and one of the few places that had an opening.

Look, you're not paying for 4 star. It 1-2 at best. But the place is clean, inexpensive and the staff was friendly. They gave us extra pillows, and offer coffee and simple breakfast. I'd go back, i'm only parking there for the night.

I'm just not sure how to say this: I'm pretty sure that the sheets on the bed hadn't been changed before we checked in. We wouldn't have stayed, but I wasn't up to driving for 1 1/2 hours at that time of night. Not to mention that I had requested 2 queen beds, and wrote that there would be 3 adults. There were 3 good things about this room: 1. The water pressure was amazing; 2. The shower was hot; and 3. There was a digital clock. Pretty much everything else was bad. The room was advertised as non-smoking, but smoke was very evident throughout the room, which is terribly uncomfortable if you're a non-smoker (as we are). There were no other rooms […] available for the management to move us to, but even if there were, we suspect they would have been just as smoke-filled as ours was, so they came in and sprayed our room down with air freshener (which didn't help much). The air filter in the AC looked like it had never been cleaned since the unit was installed decades ago. We actually took the filter out so the AC would help ventilate the room a little better, but even so, by the time we checked out in the morning, all of our belongings had absorbed the smoke odor, so they smelled like cigarette smoke until we were able to get them laundered. There were lamps beside the bed but no outlets in the wall to plug them into, and the overall space in the room was very cramped. The bathroom door opened into the room, just clearing the side of the bed, so you had to be careful which side of the doorway you were standing on when you opened the door so you wouldn't get trapped against the wall. The sheets seemed to be clean, but the mattress and bedspread didn't feel fresh. We endured the night and then got out of there as early the next day as we could - both of us suffering from a headache by the morning, brought on by the lingering smoke odor in the room. This may be the cheapest room you can find in Grass Valley, but we definitely got what we paid for: In this case, cheap price absolutely equals cheap quality. We won't be staying at Coach 'N Four again. Mehr

You're not getting luxury or any great amenities here. It's not a place where you're going to want to hang out all day long. Just a small cozy room, with a coffee maker, fridge and microwave. Motel is under new management, four months or so and has improved greatly. I stayed July 23, 2011 and had a very good experience. They are cleaning up the property i.e. airconditioner worked, new towels in the bathroom etc. and I would recommend the property for anyone on a budget who is looking for inexpensive and clean.

Worked for what I needed, but a few issues. The toilet ran every hour or so which I could hear in the middle of the night, the refrigerator froze the food I had stored in it even though it was set on low, the ceiling drywall tape was dangling from the shower ceiling, the microwave cooked the outside of the food to the point of burnt while the center […] of the food was still ice cold, and each morning the coffee pot was empty when I went in to get some - they made more when I brought it to their attention. What we wanted was a comfortable, clean place to stay, conveniently located, at an affordable price. That's exactly what we got. Pros: - Lots of free perks were included. (in-room microwave, fridge, and coffee maker; wi-fi, breakfast) - Heat worked great; room got nice and toasty warm in no time on a day it was 40 degrees and windy outside. Hot water […] also got running quickly. - Everything was very clean (carpet, bathroom fixtures, bed linens, towels, etc) - Manager was very friendly and hands-on. We called down with two requests, and in each case she was at our door moments later with the item in hand and a smile on her face. (And this was on a frigid rainy day!) - Continental breakfast was substantial: as good as we usually eat at home. Oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, milk, juice, and pastries all were eaten and much appreciated. Cons: - Decor is badly outdated. The giant cheesy "MOTEL" sign out front nearly had us turning around before we even turned into the parking lot. Dark faux-wood paneling in the room also seemed straight out of the 1970s. - Mattresses were too firm. My wife did not sleep well (though my daughter and I both slept fine). - Coffee was not good. Lots of problems in our room...heater did not work, so they gave us a portable "noisy" heater, not very efficient, and freezing in the bathroom! Phone did not work, the phone company couldn't fix it since a holiday weekend. A new refrigerator, at least....Bathroom was the main problem: the light fixture cover was missing, and very dirty, plaster peeling […] around shower closure...We never took a shower becsue it was FREEZING!!! This hotel was way better than the other hotel on the list for the same price. There is no way for you to know that without staying in both, so my pearl of wisdom to you is - the coach-n-four motel is the best for the money. Not perfect but better than the competition.

Coach N Fore is located only 1 mile (5 mins) outside of the main town, on the same road. The motel was clean, quiet and the staff was very helpful. It does not have a ton of frills (no pool or fitness room) but instead is focused on a good stay at a very reasonable price. I will stay here on my next Grass Valley visit.

This hotel was a good value for the money. It was everything one needed in a modest hotel. The owner/operators are very nice. The toilet in the room was clogged, but since it was Saturday night I did not ask for it to be fixed. I would stay there again to have a place to sleep at a reasonable price.
