Großes Zimmer, gute Betten. Bei Zimmern nach hinten raus kann man bei offenem Fenster schlafen. Internet fürs Zimmer zu teuer. Im Bad leichter Renovierungsstau. Frühstück im Hotelrestaurant empfehlenswert, sehr nette Bedienung. Infostand für Sightseeing im Hotel sehr gut. Karten tlw. kostenfrei. Mexik. Pub +Chinarestaurant ca. 200 m entfernt. U-Bahn ca. 400m weg.

Hotel liegt phänomenal gut, die Gesamtanlage und der Service sind sehr gut. Allerdings hatte man uns zuerst ein viel zu kleines und stark verschmutztes Zimmer im 3. Geschoss mit dem Auslass der Großklimaanlage direkt vor dem Fenster angeboten (Lärm!), das war auch so nicht gebucht. Reklamation war aber sofort möglich und iwr bekamen ein anderes Zimmer, das dann sehr schön war.

Wir (Familie mit zwei erwachsenen Kindern) verbrachten eine Woche im W Hotel in NYC (Downtown) und waren auf Grund der kurzen Zeit viel unterwegs, sodass eine gute Anbindung an den ÖPNV und eine gute Erreichbarkeit der Sehenswürdigkeiten von Belang war. Die U-Bahn war recht schnell zu erreichen, jedoch dauert es einige Zeit (~30 Minuten) bis man im […] Herzen von New York City gelandet ist - der 5th Ave. Sollte man öfters zwischen der 5th Ave (und den umgebenden Blocks) und dem Hotel pendeln, so geht einiges an Zeit verloren, weswegen wir Abends öfters aufs Taxi ausgewichen sind, da die Taxi-Fahrten dort nicht so teuer sind wie hier. In der Nähe des Hotels befindet sich die u.a. die Wall Street, direkt gegenüber befindet sich Ground Zero und nicht weit ist die Anlegestelle gelegen, von der die Fähren zur Freiheitsstatue fahren. Das Hotelzimmer selbst war recht angenehm gestaltet; es erwartete uns ein großes Doppelbett, ein ausreichende großes Bad, wobei die Duschkabine direkt an den Schlafbereich angrenzte und nur durch eine leicht verschwommene Glasscheibe getrennt war, was nicht gerade ein Gefühl von Privatsphäre vermittelte. Zu unserem Unmut haben wir statt eines Doppelzimmers ein einzige Zimmer bekommen und es wurde lediglich eine weitere Matratze auf den Boden gelegt, auf der zwei von vier Personen schlafen sollten. Bei einem Hotel dieser Klasse erinnern solche Zustände mehr an einen schlechten Scherz. Natürlich haben wir die Situation sofort in der Rezeption angesprochen und uns wurde versichert, dass das Problem bis zum nächsten Tag gelöst werden würde. Natürlich passierte, auch nach mehrmaliger Beschwerde, nichts und uns wurde gesagt, dass einfach nicht genug freie Zimmer zur Verfügung stünden. Einen Ausgleich / Entschädigung gab es nicht. Des Weiteren entschieden wir uns dazu unser Frühstück im hoteleigenen Restaurant zu uns zu nehmen, welches i.d.R. recht gut schmeckte, jedoch eine größere Vielfalt an Alternativen vermissen lies. Unmittelbar an der Baustelle von Ground Zero gelegen. Interessant alles von oben zu bekommen. Durch die Baustelle ab ca. morgens 6.00 Uhr Baustllengeräusche. Stört aber nicht.
"guter Komfort, absolut empfehlenswert"
Das Hotel liegt direkt am Ground Zero, wir hatten spectecular view gebucht - und den absoluten Ausblick auf die riesige Baustelle hatten wir auch. Natürlich bringt das auch Baulärm mit sich, aber das wussten wir vorher. Das Hotel an sich ist stylish und hat die Bewertung 4,5 Sterne durchaus verdient. Die oberen Stockwerke sind noch nicht vollständig […] renoviert. Die zentrale Lage und gute Erreichbarkeit mit der U-Bahn machen es empfehlenswert für einen bequemen New york Trip. Das Personal hilft gerne weiter, jedoch sind Sprachkenntnisse in Englisch von Vorteil. Essen kann man ( teuer ) im Hotel oder in einer der unzähligen Gaststätten in der Umgebung. Jederzeit wieder!!!! Ein modernes, neues Hotel mit sehr freundlichen Personal. Die Zimmer waren sauber, aber mit einer Familie (2EW, 2 Jugendliche) hatte man kaum Schräncke zur Verfügung. Sehr gut fanden wir, dass morgens Kaffee oder Tee und tagsüber ein Erfrischungsgetränk zur Verfügung standen. "Immer wieder"
Dieses Hotel ist einfach supter. Das Personal sehr freundlich und wirklich bemühlt alle Probleme zu lösen. Die Zimmer sind sehr schön, normal gross, mit einer spitzenhaften Aussicht. Die Anbindung ans U-Bahnnetz ist sehr gut. Leider ist die Aussicht auf die Baustelle auch sehr Lärmintensiv, wobei man sich daran gewöhnen kann. "Bizarre Experience"
First, let me unequivocally state that I have stayed here several times and LOVE this hotel. That said, this was truly a strange experience - upon check in, I was to receive a non-smoking room, "executive level" room. I was told that my room was non-smoking but it clearly was not. When I spoke to the front desk, I was told that it was and that all "executive […] level" rooms were non--smoking. Later that evening, a different person at the front desk told me that I was not in an executive level room. They also told me that my room was in fact a smoking room (the distinct smell of smoke and the ash tray in the room prompted my inquiry). When I told the front desk person that I had been lied to about the room, another person working at the front desk jumped in and accused me of being hostile. Ultimately, they gave me a non-smoking room (after I was told there were not available for that evening). I was truly stunned by this treatment, especially after having such a positive experience in the past (and frankly, aside from this, a great experience this time as well). This is a great hotel in a terrific area of Manhattan - this incidence will not prevent me from returning unless it happens again. Mehr

I could only recommend this hotel to people who understand that the Ground Zero work continues and the noise level from that is pretty bad...my door shook all night....Also when the hotel has a party it makes for a loud evening for everyone

"The W Downtown - Witnessing a rebirth"
It was a privilege to stay at the W Downtown recently. It must be the only place in the world where it is wonderful to overlook a noisy building site! To wake up in the morning and look out over the Ground Zero Memorial and the growing towers is truly spectacular, and really quite moving. Construction continues through the night, so be prepared. Ear […] plugs are a great idea but, if you are anything like me, you will embrace these sights and sounds as the welcome rebirth and growing pains of this marvelous place. I have nothing to complain about with respect to the W. They even gave me a very late check out so that I could meet friends for lunch and shower before leaving for JFK. My only request would be that they provide free internet access in the business for hotel guests . Having to pay is just inconvenient, and $5.99 for 15 minutes just feels wrong in the context of the whole package. I would love definitely try to book here again on my next trip. "Fantastic pet hotel"
Upon my arrival I found bowls for each of my 3 cats, litter boxes and a basket full of toys, treats and catnip. Super friendly housekeeping any time you ask for it. Near many subways and World Trade Center. See it all from the 5th floor bar. Would definitely return.

The hotel is cheaper because its directly across the WTC site. The staff was OUTSTANDING. Got many free upgrades because I was in town to get married. Convenient to the NYC courthouse and away from the sheer chaos of Times Square. A 20 minute subway ride and you're anywhere you need to be. A very swanky spot, for sure, but down in the gulag of the financial district. Sure, almost everything is a short subway ride away, and Battery Park is 5 minutes outside your door, but there isn't much There there. The hotel overlooks Ground Zero and the site of all the construction is rather spectacular. "Great hotel but we got screwed by parking garage"
Hotel and service is great! Watch out for the garage. The hotel claims that the over night charge is 35$. If you pick your car up 1 minute after 24 hours has passed, you get a special hotel rate which is minimum 25$ extra. The extra 30 min if you drive in as a regular customer is 7,60$. Not very smart of W to have such rules for its customers.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the W Downtown. The staff was friendly and helpful, our room was inviting and comfortable, and the lounge area was gorgeous and trendy- we stopped there both nights of our stay. We also utilized the MDX service, which we would recommend as well.

"W Financial District"
The W is a chain that promises much but seems to fall a bit short. They did not have the KIng room I had reserved, instead I was given two doubles or the option of taking a "lesser" room. Since I had already paid for the superior, I went for the 2 beds. The room I had was larger than any other W room I've stayed in, but it was very noisy due to construction […] across the street. The construction goes on all day and all night and probably will for some time to come. I can block out the sound of garbage trucks, but jackhammering is another matter. The hotel is in an interesting location, a block from the 9/11 memorial and only a few blocks away from Wall St, but taxis were notoriously difficult to get. The decor is W chic. Access to the lobby/reception is via elevator to the 5th floor. Gym was OK for a downtown location, but not the spa type spread that you get at some other W locations. But you're so close to the Hudson that it's better run along the river than on a treadmill. Coffee is available in the morning on the reception level, but there are no coffee makers in the rooms. A Starbucks is in the lobby of the Mariott on the next block. Mehr

I love staying at any W, but this one far exceeded my expectations. staff was very helpful and friendly. the hotel lobby is so beautiful as well! there is complimentary coffee in the morning and punch in the evening. very hip and trendy place to stay.

"W HOTEL DOWNTOWN DISASTER"
I've stayed at many W hotels in the past and the downtown location was GROSS ! The service was below par the room was dirty the walls had scuff marks all over it and their was hair all over the room. Worst place ever !

"Great but not worth the price"
The staff was very nice and upgraded my room without me even requesting. The room was cozy (I was in the cozy corner room) but when I opened my window, I was in direct view of the neighbors and that was a bit uncomfortable. Especially since the shades are solid; not blinds. Lots of construction surrounding the hotel but it's at a great location. The […] price is not worth the room. I've stayed at other W Hotels and this one seems like you are paying for the name, not the room. Other than the price, I had no problems. btw, the room is not dark and the lighting in the bathroom is bright. You have to insert your room key in a white box right next to the door in order to activate the additional lighting. I think they do this to save on the electric bill. Taking your key out the box darkens the room! You never forget to take your key and you save on energy! brilliant! Anyway, I think they should knock off $100 from the room prices b/c that's what they're worth. Mehr
"Average. Not liking the glass bathroom wall"
Cool, modern design, however room maintenance was not up to W standards and the glass bathroom wall has got to go!! Our room had many black marks and paint scuffs on the walls (very apparent in a minimalist, all-white room) and the accent pillows had stains on them. Not what I would expect from a new hotel. Also there is a glass wall between the bathroom […] and bedroom compromising privacy. Most of the glass is frosted, however some of it is not and the bathroom occupants are partially visible, especially in the shower.
