Wir hatten das Hotel gewählt, weil wir ein Fußballspiel in Newcastle sehen wollten. Das Stadion befindet sich in unmittelbarer Nähe und ist, genau wie der Bahnhof, in 5 Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar. Die Umgebung des Hotels ist eher durchschnittlich, einige Straßen und Läden machen einen schmuddeligen Eindruck. Das Hotel ist sauber und macht einen gepflegten Eindruck. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist für englische Verhältnisse gut. Leider gibt es kein kostenfreies Internet, deutsches TV ist auch nicht vorhanden (wie eigentlich immer in England).

In diesem Hotel kann man englisches Lebensgrfühl nachvollziehen. Es war unser zweiter Aufenthalt. Leider hatten wir jetzt den Eindruck, dass Sauberkeit und die Qualität des vorher ausgezeichneten Essens etwas nachgelassen haben.

äußerst freundliche Gastgeber, superleckeres full english breakfast, sehr stilvoll eingerichtet mit Liebe und Blick fürs Detail, zuvorkommend, herzlich, zum Wohlfühlen, sauber, ordentlich und ruhig.

"Nice hotel but priced accordingly"
Very nice hotel but with their own golf course, it seemed everything was more expensive than normal. Breakfast was an outrageous additional cost, what you would expect to pay for a lunch!

"George Washington Hotel, Nr Sunderland"
Very quiet hotel, clean rooms and polite staff, worth a stay. We had family room as 8 year old with u,s her bed was in small alcove private from our bed, beds comfy and good quality linen, excellent nights sleep with no outside noise. Leisure facilities okay, pool cold and very small but daughter liked it, spa pool being cleaned so not in use, have […] to go through gym to get from changing room to pool so not ideal. Breakfast poor to start with eg cold coffee, but if you ask for fresh they happily fetch new. Would happily stay again. Mehr
"Good value room, but breakfast was expensive"
The room was lovely, spacious and comfortable, with free WiFi, a lovely comfortable bed, decent bathroom and was very quiet. No traffic noise and not much noise from corridors. However, breakfast would have cost over thirteen pounds, which seems astronomical to me! Needless to say, we didn't bother with it and went elsewhere. The hotel seems to be catering […] to business travellers with corporate accounts, to whom it can charge what it likes for breakfast. However, to private individuals, this is an excessive charge, and adds an enormous amount to the nightly rate, which suddenly doesn't seem so reasonable. Mehr
"a place to chill"
staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was a bit dated but very comfy and quiet. the hole hotel had a home away from home feel. the gym was small but well set out, breakfast was very nice to and it was help your self :-), i cant think of a bad thing to say so i'l bit you all a good hotel good night.
"Don't bother staying here !"
Receptionist had no knowledge of room locations and it took three attempts to get a quiet room. Bedroom cold, restaurant freezing; asked for a heater but no response. Menu was 3 days old as was the stale cheesecake. Bed was extremely soft and ended up sleeping on the floor and I don't normally have a back problem. Swimming pool cold and the floor surrounding […] it was dirty. Woodwork neglected and rotten on entrance porch. Having stayed in a nice Mecure hotel two weeks ago this was very dissapointing. The hotel was pleasant to stay at was great value for money. We were traveling with an infant and had no problems.
"Lots of positives but still not perfect"
This hotel was clean, relatively comfortable and the staff were friendly. Unfortunately the Internet wasn't working properly and couldn't be fixed on the night which was a let down. The food was really nice and well priced. "George Washington Hotel, Washington. Co. Durham"
This hotel nows belongs to Mecure group. The room was large and very clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. The only downside was the cost of breakfast, which we didn't have.

Overall hotel was good and the spa area, gym, pool, steam, sauna were very nice. Only bad thing was the rooms was a bit of a walk and in the morning at 6:30am the linen cleaners were collecting dirty bed sheets, towels for over 15-20mins and made too much noise. They were using loud metal trolleys and that is all I could hear. Considering it happen […] on Friday and Monday, this was not nice for me and my wife who were there for a 4 night stay. Mehr

"It was Ok but a bit far out for Concert"
me and my friend stopped here for the Take That Concert. The rooms were clean and bath was nice but it was bit far away from the Sunderland Football Stadium where Take That were playing. The only thing that I saw that was bad is that some of car's that were parked at the Hotel had been broken in to.
This hotel is the only hotel in Washington that I could find that had a pool. The pool was wonderful, just the perfect temperature, and had a hot tub as well. My grandchildren were in heaven. It wasa little too warm in the room, so we moved up to the the 2nd floor so that we could open the room. The beds were a little soft, but overall the room was […] comfortable and very clean. Mehr

"Nice and quiet"
When I arrived, I was first put up in a room beside the ventilation generators facing the parking lot. It was really noisy, and sleeping with an open window to get some air in, was not an option. In my case I stayed for a working week, and was relatively happy, after getting a room facing the golf course. Nice and quiet :) The gym is small and simple, […] but adequately equipped. If you come for a culinary experience, you will be really disappointed. The restaurant is terrible, prices are steep, and the service is poor. Sadly, this is typical for hotels where there's no other restaurants within walking distance - they get lazy when local competition is weak. All in all the George Washington is an OK alternative for people working in the area for a short period, if you have a car or other way of getting to local restaurants. Mehr
