The Oasis Resort - Negril

You basically get what you pay for. The shower water was cold. There were barely any other guests. The taxi prices for the night life were ridiculous. They know how to slick talk. Stay somewhere on the beach if it's spring break. Perfect if u like a quiet place away from the crowd.

Great location friendly and helpful staff. Affordable shops and restaurants on the strip. De Bar and Sips and Bites are worth checking out. Only complaint is way too many vendors and hustlers on the strip and seven mile beach they're relentless. Good shuttle service to the beach and back. Or anywhere else just ask.

The staff was very pleasant and accomodating however, the hotel was out dated compared to most hotels in the area. The location was not on the beachside as I expected but very close to one of the local popular spots/ tourist attractions (Rick's Cafe).

Shakespeare once wrote, "Parting is such sweet sorry". I honestly believe he meant this saying for the Oasis Hotel. First of all, we were a group of four that stayed here. The atmophere was very solitude, very clean and peaceful. The staff was amazing. Special thank you to Chris (the chef), Keniel, Arnet, Sasha, Melisa, Alex and Richie for they comforting […] welcome. They were our family away from home. Very hospitable, always smiling. On many occasion, I sat in the dining room observing the attitudeS of these empolyees and their enthusiasm to please and serve all the guests at the Oasis. I admire them for their enthusiasm. Miss Taylor (Manager) always had a plesant smile and "Hello" as she passes by. Our stay were more enjoyable by these individual pleasantry. A huge asset for the Oasis Resort. All staff were helpful and friendly and gave us lots of information about local places to eat, shop and visit, as well as recommending a tour guide (who was good and reasonable). We booked a Deluxe room, but got a Superior for one day. A room was in an average condition with small double beds, ceiling fan was noisy, no soap and hot water, no fringe (although description says "A refrigerator is provided") and we also noticed a cockroach there. I do not recommend this option. After that we were moved to Deluxe room with was much […] better - large and comfortable bed, nice room interior and finally fridge and hot water. Unfortunately, it was not ideal - not enough light, not all outlets worked, walls were thin and noise isolation was bad. The restaurant service is awful. We were waiting for about 40 minutes for a coffee with a few people in the restaurant waiting for their orders. It is fair to say that almost everywhere the service is awful - waiting hour, hour and half for a food with a few people in the restaurants is a usual in Jamaica. So, the average impression is average - not bad, not perfect. You can consider this option when making a plans for a vacation. Mehr

The rooms look exactly as they do in the website photos!! No surprises. The staff were so lovely! I'd recommend the breakfast. The food was delicious, large portion and great value! It was such a nice treat to wake up every day and have such great food waiting for us! We had the Jamaican breakfast all week long and now that we're home we miss Dennis' […] (the chef) cooking! Yes, it is located in the West end and considered out of the way but we enjoyed coming back after a long day and relaxing. The shuttle is great! We often took it to the beach and then made our own way back later in the day. This way, we saw a lot more the the town than we would have otherwise. We are not all-inclusive people. If that's your thing then the West end is not for you! Route taxis are cheap! $100 JMD/person from the hotel to the square (Scotiabank, grocery stores) and $100 JMD/person from the square to the beach. Route taxis have red license plates and say "Route taxi" on them. We never had any problems taking them. We're from Vancouver where we walk all the time! Walking down the beach from the square was so beautiful! Erica's Restaurant is located at the end of the lane. Such great people and food! Very inexpensive and so close to the hotel, definitely worth eating there! 3 Dives Restaurant has the best view! You have to eat there one night and watch the sunset!! Jerk chicken was great. Mehr

The staff was pleasant and friendly. The hotel is neat, clean, brightly painted, and decorated with a tropical theme in mind. However, my wall unit air conditioner leaked onto the bed. The bathroom plumbing was subpar with the sink faucet just dribbling water when turned all the way on, the toilet leaking, and the shower head spurting water in abnormal […] directions. There was cable tv with American channels available, which was nice. An iron was there, but no iron board. Bring your own hair dryer and toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc.) as they only offer 2 small bars of basic soap, towels, and washcloths. There was a small, fairly new refrigerator in the room, but there was no microwave. Also no phone was provided in the room, so whenever I had a question, I had to walk to the hotel office to ask. Oasis was on the West End side of Negril...while it is away from the beach, it does offer an amazing view of the water from the cliffs. If you're into Rick's Cafe and the Rockhouse (both high on the list of places tourists should get to), then the location is good for you. Good value for the money. Rooms are clean but bring your own towels and wash cloths. Pool is nice. The staff is very friendly and they respond to issues promptly. For great food, walk to the main street and turn right, walk about a block and on the left side of the road there is a place named Bites and Sips. The food is awesome!

We loved our stay at the Oasis! My first impression was "Wow" "Beautiful" Our room was lovely. It's not a 5 Star hotel in that the towels were basic clean and white but not plush, no coffee maker but I don't care about that stuff. Our bed was very comfortable. I loved the tropical setting, the hummingbirds in the hibiscus, the wonderful smiling staff............the […] setting was so peaceful and as I experienced more of the very commercial, noisy, 7 mile beach part-of-town, going back "Home to the Oasis" every day was so great. I walked in the mornings and took photos, met some great people, enjoyed some local food and was able (6 of us) to walk to Rick's Cafe for sunset one night. There were some great people there and we all shared our thoughts. The bar was cute, drinks good. Breakfast plan was delicious. If you ever want to truly get away from the huss and fuss of life on the go and enjoy well kept scenery and beautifully fresh cooked cuisine, here is the place for you. The staff assisted me in getting proper transportation to and from my events with ease, the comfort was so pleasant and natural that it was easy to say, I felt I had known them for years. Everyone likes to get to know you on a name to name basis, this I was pleased to say made me feel right at home. Herva was so nice she stayed after work on one of the rainy days, just to help me make my daughters garters. Let me tell you she can sew!!!!!! I had a wonderful experience and would recommend this resort for anyone who can put aside a few extreme luxuries for hospitality. I'm so glad I had the honor to meet all of them and enjoy life somewhere else. To me its the people that make a place not the bed, walls and floors. Even though they were nice too...... The hotel itself is clean, has AC, free wii-fi, a pool and great service. The only draw back is you are not on the beach. It does feel a little off the path but it is quiet & safe. You can easily walk to the cliffs in the westend for picture-esque views but you have to take the free shuttle to 7-mile beach. The hotel is like a small resort with 4 rooms […] to a building. The bathroom was ample size (hot water does run out in AM so try a night shower if lots of guests), bedroom had 2 twin beds, TV with full cable, mini fridge & 2 balconies. (but don't leave food out mini ants invade). The staff could not be more helpful and yes you have to try Arlene's cakes; they are all good! The hotel restaurant has daily dinner specials & is worth eating there at least one night. I do recommend to purchase the breakfast with your hotel plan; its nice to wake up to food made to order. Service here is amazing, and the staff always remember your name. This is probably easier in a resort where there are only 20 rooms, but the small capacity leads to a quiet place and attentive staff. The hotel was located on the west end of Negril, basically the furthest point of the entire island. As a result, transportation was mandatory in order to enjoy stay. The food was well prepared however there wasnt a large selection. The staff was overall friendly but the accomodations could have been better

Nice stay. My wife (not me) had an issue with the sheets on the first day but they quickly changed them for us. A few things did not work, water in shower occasionally shut down as some tank refilled, the safe was small and in a ridiculous place to get anything into it, the toilet was broken for a bit. The breakfast, like everything else in Jamaica […] took a long time to come, but "no problem", we were on vacation. The staff was friendly and attentive to our needs. The shuttle leaves one time a day at 10:00 AM and returns at 4:00. If you miss it you can take a taxi but don't let them call one for you because the driver will want more money for being called.. Start walking and someone will quickly pick you up. During the day you can get to and from the beach for about 2 dollars (bargain with them). Good bargain for a fairly comfortable stay. A group of my friends and I stayed at the Oasis Resort for a week during our spring break the first week of March. We knew nothing more about the hotel beyond what we had gathered from the reviews online. The hotel describes itself as Negril's "best kept secret" and this is a very accurate description. It is definitely tucked away, nestled in a quiet […] corner of Negril's West End. If you are looking for a party palace with lots of spring breakers, this is not your hotel! It seems like it would be ideal for couples or families. The hotel is not on the beach but provides a single daily shuttle (leaves hotel at 10am and picks up from the beach at 4pm) to the beach. The Oasis is very clean and picturesque. The pool is pristine and inviting. I didn't try the food, but many of my friends did and were pleased with the quality and pricing. The rooms are pretty large and neat. They don't change your sheets or towels everyday (possibly not at all?) but that wasn't too much of a problem. I was very happy with the hotel overall. Lovely bright colourful decor, well kept gardens, friendly staff, great pool, quiet surroundings. Not on the sea front, but a short walk (5 mins) down drive to the main road through Negril. This is probably why it's so dreamily quiet! Just bird song to listen to! The food is great!

I heart The Oasis, just as my title says we arrived as guests and really did leave as family. Mr. Whyte, Arlette and Sasha treated us very well. Dennis and company cooked awesome food in the kitchen, though it did take some time keep in mind that they make every order from scratch. The chicken soup and curry were my favorites. The cleaning staff was […] wonderful and cleaned our room everyday and did a great job. We didn’t even use the safe and left plenty of valuable items out and it was never a problem. We did have two rude neighbors who shared a wall with us and they could be quite loud at times, but we tried our best to ignore them. I recommend going to Rick’s Café and don’t shy away from Erica’s Café on the corner leading into the hotel, the conch soup is lovely.
