The Lily Inn - Burlington

Es war ein nettes B&B mit sehr freundlichen und warmherzigen Besitzern. Neben dem gepflegten großen Zimmer gab es auch einen Fitnessraum und einen großen Garten. In unmittelbarer Nähe war außerdem eine schöne Promenade am Fluss. Das Frühstück war ebenfalls sehr lecker.

I recently stayed at the Lily Inn with my boyfriend, and I cannot say enough good things about it! Jean and Murray were wonderful, and so accomodating. We felt welcome from check-in to check-out by both of them and Harold (their dog). There are a handful of reasonable and tasty restaurants in walking distance, a super cool antique shop that Murray suggested, […] as well as a bit to do within a few minutes of the Inn. The rooms (all of them) are immaculate and meticulously designed. It is clear that both Jean and Murray put endless amounts of tender love and care into transforming the Inn into what is currently is - and have extended it to their guests as well! I would most definitely suggest the Lily Inn to anyone looking to stay in the area or looking for a peaceful weekend away. Mehr

The Lily Inn was a wonderful, unexpected surprise! Tucked into the beautiful little main street of historic Burlington, NJ, it felt like home when I returned at the end of each of my work days while staying there. My room was decorated in exquisite wallpaper and furnishings reminiscent of the 1700's when the home was built, as was the rest of the house. […] In the evenings, I explored the restaurants and stores along the street, and walked along the Delaware River enjoying the sailboats and sunsets just two blocks down and in sight of the B & B. We honeymooned at the Lily during Easter weekend and couldn't have been more delighted. We were treated like family by Jeannie and Murray in their beautiful historic (300 yr) home within walking distance of the Delaware River. All the rooms are beautiful decorated, ours including a raised four poster bed, each room having a separate, modern & attractive […] bathroom, and a gas fireplace. Burlington has more history & historic buildings than you can shake a stick at; but the town, though charming, is underdeveloped from the standpoint of tourism--go now before it catches on! You'll do most--but not all--of your dining elsewhere, for example. Ask Murray about 'Grounds for Sculpture'--a must visit park with monumental sculpture, nestled on a lake. While we were there the cherry blossoms were in bloom and totally fragrant; and all the peacocks seemed to be showing that day. Oh yes, and the art! Beautiful, historical, architecturally delightful New Hope, PA, on the other side of the Delaware River, is a mere 40 minutes away, and well worth visiting (take the 'scenic route' along the river). So, in sum: If you like to be "in the center of the action," this is probably not the B & B for you. But if you want a perfect central location to explore every place of interest between Philadelphia and New Hope (and beyond; for example, drive Route 32 north of New Hope for an hour of river-hugging delight), and you might enjoy, say, a relaxing late morning conversation with Jeannie or Murray (or guests) at the breakfast table or in the adjacent garden, if you want to "feel at home" in an extraordinarily lovely and friendly setting, then you'll find the Lily to you liking. The breakfast at the Lily (cooked by Murray) is very good. And there's one good restaurant in town which, luckily, happens to be across from the inn. We had our wedding supper at the restaurant across the street. When we were done, we walked across to our hotel where we were welcomed as though we were lost relatives and escorted into a beautifully appointed bedroom with en suite bathroom. The hosts were wonderful, the breakfast delicious, but the most awesome thing was the house. It is a very old […] house but although it has all the decor of one, it looks immaculate.
