Argyll Plaza Hotel - Edmonton

When I first arrived at the hotel entrance I was a bit worried that my room would reflect outside (hotel was located in a strip mall), but to my surprise the room was spacious and rather comfortable, and the staff were very pleasant. I recommend this place if your looking for something that's affordable and not over the top

Once I arrived at the hotel I was informed that they do not allow cats (I had two and a dog - moving from another province). Then they also said I would have to stay in a smoking room but I do not smoke. The front desk associate let me see how the room smelled because of being sensitive to the smell of cigarette smoke, the room had an extremely overwhelming […] smell of cigarette smoke and appeared quite outdated. I advised the front desk associate I would find another hotel. Even though I had booked my hotels far in advance to avoid late night hotel searching, I ended up staying at the Holiday Inn express which was very nice. Mehr

I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE SERVICE OF THE HOTEL AND HOW HELPFUL THE STAFF WERE. THE ROOM CLEANED EVERYDAY IF WANTING TO USE TV THEN THERE IS SO MUCH CHOICE THE ROOM WE STAYED IN WAS ENOUGH ROOM FOR THREE ADULTS GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY SITUATED CLOSE AMENITIES AND ID HAVE NO PROBLEM STAYING THERE AGAIN

The sheets were threadbare. The decor was... Dark and hasnt been updated in a very long time. Beds were old and they had navy blue towels... I'm assuming to hide stains. Gross. HOWEVER: This hotel was conveniently located, and had good service. Everyone was friendly.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was neat and clean.

I went to stay a night at this hotel during my brief visit to Edmonton. I had booked my room in advance through hotel.com and when I arrived the front counter staff had my information with him. Got free parking spot and they had bar and mcdonald nearby in case if anyone wants to grab something to eat but make sure you go there before 10:00 PM as they close after that. Will definitely recommend this hotel and will probably book again during my next visit to Edmonton. Mehr

We have been there a few times and every time we come to Edmonton from now on that is where we will stay. The rooms are big,clean and quiet and they can accomodate our dog. It is easy to get anywhere from their location.

I stayed just this past weekend, its convenient if your there for business or want to be near whyte ave. its great to leave edmonton as its a south location. great large sized room, newly renovated bathroom. Two large couches, bedding was fine. Overall cleanliness was fine. the night shift guy was kinda douchey, the morning gals were wonderful. highly […] recommended for the price, so cheap and its nowhere near a dive, they keep it tidy. Rosies restaurant attatched to the hotel was so good. Basically a plain jane good rate hotel. No frills, but no bed bugs either. Mehr

The Hotel is OK if you only going to stay for the night and don't want to spend a lot. It's not the cleanest place; the shower was dirty with mud.

This is a very nice hotel. Free continental breakfast was a nice surpise. Did NOT ask us to 'book direct' the next time. The staff was VERY NICE. Will go there again for sure if they maintain the price/service through hotels.com.

My friend and I stayed here while visiting the city for shopping and a trip to Whyte Ave. A cab to Whyte was only about 10.00 from the hotel so we were pleased. It is a 2-star hotel, we paid a 2-star price and we had a 2-star experience. It wasn't special, it wasn't bad. The hotel staff did make a mistake when putting our booking in the system, I will […] call and double check next time I book online but the issue was resolved. I stayed at the Argyll Hotel 30 years ago. Not the same place today! It very well presented. The room was clean, spacious (nice to sit on a chesterfield and watch TV instead of the bed), and the bed was comfortable. It was like being in a suite instead of a hotel room. Definitely would recommend the hotel to anyone.

I stayed 2 separate nights and found both to be problems both nights. There were sequins on the floor and stuck in the fibers of the coverlet on the bed. I'm guessing that vacuuming and washing didn't take them out. But still weird. And in both hotel rooms the toilets were annoying to flush. I really liked that the towels weren't white! After 2 stays […] I'm still not sure if there is a free breakfast. It wasn't mentioned either time I stayed, however upon leaving it did look like we could have had free breakfast. Mehr

A friend and I stayed here when we spent a weekend away. We were talking to each other throughout the night, and got 3 noise complaints, one of which was a staff member to the door being extremely rude. The room was not very clean at all, either. A bad experience with another guest also spoiled the experience.

Decent room for the money - I knew it was budget and that's what it was. It was clean, secure, and the staff were quite friendly and helpful. No frills, but I was expecting that. Not a great neighborhood, but seemed safe enough for the most part. The Thai place in the little strip mall around the corner had very good curry!

The receptionist was very difficult to understand. He was from a different country and did not speak English very well. He said nothing about the included breakfast. The only way we knew about it was from the in room hotel guide. The room itself was not bad. It was very big with a little couch and arm chair. this is the best value for the money you pay to this hotel.this was my third visit and it is still very clean and the location is very convinient for shopping, airport, night entertaintment etc.good deal.

I spent one night in a 3rd floor suite facing the main street. It was a great disappointment! Shower had hair and residue in it, and the towels were torn and smelled like feces. It was DISGUSTING. The suite was separated from the next one by a thin service door. The guest was gagging and coughing up phlegm all morning. Soundproofing was non-existent. […] HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Mehr

We were really surprised with the room size which was immaculately large, a lot bigger then other hotels room we had stayed in previously. Not to mentioned that the room price was a lot affordable then other hotels. I would highly recommend Argyll Plaza hotel to our friends and families. We would for sure stay with Argyll Plaza Hotel the next time […] we plan a trip to Edmonton. Mehr

I Do Not recommend this hotel for non-smoking pet owners as pets must be put in smoking rooms that just reek of the stench of stale tobacco. Asthmatics would certainly have a problem with these rooms. The staff are friendly and helpful and there the convenience of a resaurant on the premises as well as a small pub.
