Overall the hotel was a very nice experience. Staff were friendly and helpful, the hotel was clean and room was comfortable. Highly recommended.

The Village chain have come on leaps and bounds in recent years (they recruited a chap from MalMaison who revamped them all ) and most respects this Hotel deserves more than its 3 star rating . it is immaculately clean, the rooms are very nice with large flat screen tv's with a good choice of channels, also an iPod doc.The staff, without exception are […] polite friendly and obliging with the standard of service being very good. The gym and pool Facilities, as with all village hotels, are second to none and this hotel even has a starbucks in the lobby. The only criticism I would have (but it would be nit picking) is that the menu is a little limited in the restaurant and the kitchen is a bit slow but in all fairness what they do cook is of good quality and the hotel was quite full when I was there so not surprising the service was slow . Overall this is a gem of a hotel and I will certainly be staying there again. Mehr

Hotel was located slightly out of the way but the facilities more than made up for its location. Excellent food (we had the 3 course meal for 2) and the kids loved the pool.

although the memory mattress was comfy i found them very warm so found it difficult to sleep

stayed for 2 nights at the Village and found the staff very friendly and helpful and the leisure facilities were very good Only complainy would be the cost of eating at the hotel although toe food was very good .It was ideally placed for getting to the NEC and was child friendly

The hotel suited us perfectly for our weekend in the Midlands. The room was very comfortable with everything to hand. The restaurant served good food at reasonable prices. We made use of the leisure facilities attached which was a bonus. Breakfast was provided in the price and a great start to the Sunday.

Hotel was conveinent for the NEC where I was attending Crufts. The only negative comment would be that the food prices were a bit too expensive

Only complaint is that with no headboard on the bed - just the wall behind - when sitting up in bed the bed (on casters) slid away from the wall!!!!!

This is a funky, modern hotel on a business park near Solihull. The rooms were clean and well equipped. Service at breakfast was excellent - however, we stayed for 2 nights a fortnight before Christmas. The restaurants were fully booked out to Christmas parties and as such not available to residents for evening meals. We were not pre-warned and were […] extremely disappointed to be required to drive from the hotel to find a local restaurant. The staff at the hotel, although polite, seemed disgruntled that they had to treat their resident guests in this way. Mehr

I stayed on the dinner bed and breakfast deal and opted for the verve burger described as coming with small fries, what arrived were limp large chips that had clearly been re heated from another time along with limp lettuce and tomato the same age as the chips!!The lift broke on the first day (I was on 3rd Floor)the second day still awaiting an engineer […] the notice said..Oh and no sky tv apparently due to the weather!!The room though was spotless and very comfy and Wi fi free and fast, would stay again but the manager needs to sort a few things out!! Hotel was very modern and clean. We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights with first night dinner deal. Since it was over Christmas, the grill was fully booked, so on Christmas eve we had a dinner at the pub which was nice with a part of live band music. The breakfast was good. The only problem was the meal on the Christmas day. The hotel restaurant was fully […] booked and hardly any restaurant nearby opened on Christmas day. So we went to BIrmingham to find a restaurant. A very friendly greeting from the reception staff welcomed us to this very stylish, yet, as I had booked a great deal through Hotels.com, inexpensive hotel. The room was very clean, comfortably presented and tastefully decorated. It was well equipped and had a splendid en-suite bathroom I had booked this hotel as we were going to see George Michael […] at the NEC, but due to the cancellation we decided to go into the centre of Birmingham instead. This was not a problem of the hotel's causing, but the location was not convenient for getting into Birmigham as the bus in went all round "Will's mother's" and took 1 1/4 hours, and the taxi back, though much quicker, cost over £20. Also there was a Christmas party in the restaurant downstairs, with the inevitable noisy revellers returning to their rooms in the wee small hours. The breakfast was EXCELLANT and plentiful, even though we arrived near the end of service, and I must offer a HUGE thank you to the staff there who were as cheerful as if we were the only people to have eaten there all day - well done you guys! Would we stay there again? Only when we finally get to the NEC, but for anyone wanting to stay in this neck of the woods I would receommend it. Mehr

New nice and friendly. One comment is not travel toiletries in the bath which can come in very handy for a traveler.

Great for a family stay, room was big enough for 2 single mattresses on the floor and a huge queen bed. Icing on the cake was the pool although this is only open to children during off peak hours, but we worked around this fine.

family room was fantastic with proper beds for the kids. really good location. access to the pool and gym was fantastic the kids were able to play in the pool and there were family changing facilities too!!

I recently stayed here on a weekend away with the girls. First impression from the outside, very masculine and industrial looking. Reception area was nice, and it was very busy as there is a sport's bar and a huge gym there so there was a lot of foot traffic. Reception staff were ok, but a simple acknowledgement that you were there and a "we'll be with […] you in a minute, madam" would have been nice. Initially, we were given a double, instead of a twin, which we had clearly asked for on our booking. Last thing you need after driving 3 1/2 hours to get there. When we finally got the correct room our first impressions were that it was lovely and clean, nice decor, but no mini-bar or fridge which was disappointing. Breakfast was lovely, although the coffee was dreadful - much too weak. And breakfast was served until 11 which is much more civilised! After breakfast, I went to use the gym which is amazing with great facilities. there's also a pool which I didn't use but my friend said was nice a warm. After the gym I returned back to my room only to find the door wouldn't open. There followed repeat trips down to reception (in gym gear) to get it resolved. Finally it transpires that it was a mechanical problem with the door and not down to my key not working. I had already told the receptioninst that I didn't think it was the key that was the problem. Anyway, maintenance man out and 45 minutes later, back in my room. No mention of any compensation, so I had to ask to see the manager, who came up trumps and said he would send 2 bottles of wine up to my room later in an ice bucket. Little cost to the hotel, but eased the stress of the situation, and something that should have been offered straight away. Anyway, I enjoyed the rest of my stay with no more drama. It's a lovely hotel. It is quite far from Solihull town centre, so you need to get a cab if you want to explore. The Hotel is very good location , fine modern bedroom Only thing missing is I like to have the soap/shower gel etc rather than travelodge standard dispensers on wall in bathrooms.

I love staying at t his hotel! Clean, modern and a vibrant feel about the place. Pros: Clean and fresh. Pleasant young staff give off a good vibe. Safe parking and always plenty of room. Cons: Karaoke in the bar on a Friday night, what's that all about!!!!!

Very clean, modern decor, free wifi in rooms. Not much surrounding neighborhood, but the hotel has two restaurants and a Starbucks on site. Service was great. Our room was prepared with the extra bed for my daughter made up prior to our arrival. The breakfast buffet was pretty good, but watch out for the feisty hotel customer at the toaster. Room was lovely although looks out over the car park but near to Solihull and for the price you can't complain. The only disappointment was the breakfast which was served in another room as they had hosted a wedding the night before. Lots of it but lukewarm and when we were asked if we wanted tea or coffee the lady never came back.

Very modern, luxurious for the price. Decent bed - 6' double/king, good curtains (important for a good nights sleep!), but the daftest shower and bathroom I've ever used. Raindance overhead shower head (at the plug end of the too-narrow bath - that's why the plug was broken then!), with a too-small shower screen that guarantees a wet floor. Could have […] been laid out SO much better. Silly shower control too - want to use the hand/hose showerhead? Get ready for a quick spray of cold water from overhead first! 'Window' between bedroom and bath - why? - switching the bathroom light on at night means waking your other half up as it lights the bedroom up better than the actual bedroom lights do. Genius!? Raised toilet seat neatly covers the flush buttons! Why?! Doh! I think a 'designer' did the bathroom without thinking first. Negatives - just two - that bathroom and there's only one small lift. Other than that, all good. Friendly staff, decent all-you-can-eat breakfast, pretty good value and a peaceful nights sleep. Mehr

Generally I am a big fan of Village as far as a hotel chain goes. You know what you are getting and in most instances the standards are consistent. The food menu could be a little more varied particularly if you don't want burger or steak. My only real gripe is with the express checkout. I ahve had an error on the last three bills when I have stayed […] at their venues. I book through Hotels.com each time and prepay with my credit card as required. Village always seem to disagree with the fact that the accomodation is prepaid and have consistenetly tried to double charge me. Beware, with the somewhat erratic room rates that Village apply, you might find yourself being charged another night on top of what you thought you had budgeted. Mehr

Stayed here for one night while working in Knowle. Its quite a busy hotel but rooms are quiet and comfortable. Shower is excellent, with good temperture control. Food was very good, but a little bit pricey. However, drinks are very reasonable in the large bar area. Staff were friendly and there are plenty of them. Breakfast was OK, but the chairs […] in the breakfast room needed a bit of a clean. Overall, very good value for money and I would stay there again. Mehr

I have stayed at the village in Solihull a few times now when visiting friends and family. Always been good although quality of breakfast could be better.

Overall very good and comfortable; good food, generally helpful staff, a few minor niggles with room but most of these were dealt with when mentioned to staff.

Generally a very good new hotel with great leisure facilities. Food selection for vegetarians was limited.

Had a great 1 night stay at this hotel before a girl's day out shopping in Birmingham City Centre. Arrived on a Friday night and although busy, check-in staff were friendly and courteous. We ate in the on-site "pub" which was standard pub food, neither good nor bad. A little expensive for what it was, but acceptable. It was "karaoke" night, which was […] clearly a favourite for locals. The DJ had most of his family / friends with him but in fairness they were all very good singers, and didn't exclude anyone else having a go (not us!). Breakfast was standard hotel fare. Nothing special, but plentiful and not busy at all on the Saturday morning that we were there. Staff were pleasant and we weren't rushed. A slight mix-up on check-out after they had put a bill under our door in the middle of the night for the room & breakfast, despite it having been paid in advance and us confirming that on arrival. Took a few minutes for them to resolve that when we were keen to get on our way, but other than that no complaints! On-site Starbucks to grab a coffee to go was great too. This is definitely a "functional" hotel rather than a "destination" one, but other than a slight concern over the cleanliness of our bath (several hairs, not ours) the room was well appointed and comfortable, with everything you need (including tea & coffee making facilities). Location not ideal if you want to head anywhere other than in a car. Took us a good 20 minutes to drive into Birmingham City Centre from the hotel, but had we stayed in a central hotel we would have both had to pay extortionate car parking charges so that suited us well. Didn't get a chance to try out the leisure facilities, so can't comment on those, but all in all would recommend if you're looking for a clean, moderrn, above-average hotel for a night or two when visiting Birmingham. Just off the main Stratford Rd and conveniently close to the M42, The Village Hotel is set in green park area with ample parking. The comfortable rooms are well appointed and the pool is just great. Breakfast is all you might want without being over the top and the quality is good.

A very good hotel. When you arrive, there is a large car park. The reception is modern and welcoming and the staff were very friendly and efficient. The room was a good size, even with the 2 extra beds in it for our children and the master bed was large and comfortable. The room was very clean and well presented with nice touches like tea and coffee, […] a great sized TV, a hairdryer, iron and ironing board. The bathroom was very clean and modern - very nice with lots of towels. Even though there were weddings and events on in the restaurant, the room was reasonable quiet at night and if the window was shut you couldn't hear any outside noise. The pool was a good size and very clean, the only down side being that the steps area was being used for swimming lessons on one day of our stay whilst the pool was open to children. This made getting in with little children a bit difficult as they had to jump in from the side. Apart from that, it was clean and there was a lifeguard on duty which is a definite bonus! Rooms and decor were very nice, tv has some sky channels which was useful. Ate in the restaurant which was a bit of a let down with very poor service and average food but the hotel was nice. I would stay again but would eat elsewhere.

This is an excellent hotel. The staff are courteous and quite helpful. My room was comfortable and better than pictured. The food in both the pub and dining room was quite tasty and the service prompt and friendly. The hotel is quite new and everything is in good condition. LC pool is very good. A third bed meant that there was not a great deal of space but this is usual in UK hotels. Bed very comfortable and bathroom clean but very little storage (hence "one night"). Service let themselves down a little with two requests for extra pillows not answered. 5th time ive stayed at a village hotel, and they never disappoint. They set an excellent standard with good friendly staff.
