Palomar Chicago, a Kimpton Hotel - Chicago

Das Hotel ist supersauber, die Zimmer schön groß, die Betten traumhaft. Die Lage perfekt zur Magnificent Mile, Supermarkt und Starbucks um die Ecke. Der Pool ist zu klein und eine Chlorbrühe. Dafür ist die Dachterrasse grandios, vor allem nachts.

Sehr gute Lage nördlich Chicago River, 1 Block zur MAGNIFICIENT Mile, Zimmer gross und sehr sauber, alle "wünsche" wie high floor, away from Elevator wurden berücksichtigt, tolle Terrasse und pool auf dem 17 floor, negativ: Business center, Internet und prints müssen bezahlt werden-nicht mehr Zeitgemäß, Insgesamt: würde ich sofort wieder buchen

An amazingly good experience here. The hotel was ideally located within walking distance or a short cab ride of most attractions. The place was well kept, clean and a delight to stay in. But was was really the best experience was the friendliness, courteousness and efficiency of the staff. I stayed at the Palomar for 4 nights between April 19th and 23th 2012 and was impressed. The Palomar truly offers the service that you expect from a hotel in this class (but that you rarely get anymore these days). Whilst the rooms, lobby and the hotel overall are comparable to other hotels in its class, it is the eye for detail that sets the Palomar […] apart (ranging from the lighting in the room, to the daily wine reception in the lobby, to the helpful people at the reception. The Palomar is a breath of fresh air when compared to the chain hotels like Marriott or Hilton in the same area). Compliments to the staff of the hotel! From a practical point of view, the hotel is very well located just two blocks away from the Magnificent Mile and next to the Grand Red metro station (with easy access to and from the airport - be it O'Hare or Midway - so no need to face the costly taxi ride and rush hour traffic). Great choice, centrally located...not too big..very modern and clean. Has a nice attached restaurant and bar. My only complaint is that the AT&T service for the IPhone does not work well within the hotel. Great choice and I will return

From the moment that we arrived until our departure four days later we felt papmpered and spoiled by the staff at the Palomar. everyday our inquires and requests for reservations were met with enthusiasm from the concierges, the front desk staff and everyone else working at the hotel. We had good recommendations respecting tours and restaurants. The […] hotel is centrally located and we could walk to many of our activities. We had breakfast two mornings in the hotel and the service and food were excellent. We had a great stay! I was with my 8 year old daughter and they treated her like a princess. When I was checking in she was admiring the fishes in the fish bowl. One of the staff walked over and asked her if she would like one in her room. She was estatic! We stayed for 4 nights in April. Hotel staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The location is great for shopping, restaurants and sight-seeing. The pool and gym are a fairly good size. Downside is there is no free wi-fi in the lobby. Had breakfast in the hotel restaurant and wasn't too impressed.

Beautifully decorated hotel in the heart of downtown Chicago. I loved the carpets and the modern art work. Service was great! The staff took extra priority in the comfort of their guests. Surrounded by tall buildings so not much view from the room. Overall beautiful place to stay!

The Kimpton Palomar is a moderate-sized urban hotel that feels like a boutique hotel. Excellent service, location right off the Red line, comfortable and classy. I will definitely stay here next time I am in Chicago.

Great staff. Great hotel. Only complaint was the indoor pool - very bad odor from chlorine or other chemicals used.

I am hard-to-please when it comes to hotels but we were just totally satisfied and happy with our stay last weekend. The staff was friendly and helpful, our room was super clean and comfortable, and the hotel itself was stylish and chic. We absolutely loved the location and found so much to do nearby. It was nice to have a cocktail lounge, Sable, right […] in our hotel, too. My only complaint was the high cost of parking for the weekend. Other than that, we were very pleased. Mehr

This was my 1st stay at the Hotel Palomar & I will definitely be back! It was conveniently located, and the rooms were very spacious. I had a full sized jacuzzi tub in my bathroom - it was fabulous! I also recommend the restaurant in the hotel We had breakfast there - food & service were great. Can't wait for my next trip to Chicago.

The rooms and amenities are fantastic;staff is friendly and helpful. I swam in the pool several times and it was good for laps. The fitness center was clean and comfortable. We really felt safe and at home, and are contemplating a family reunion at the hotel.

We were only there for 3 nights but found very nice facilities, excellent staff and the location in downtown Chicago is really good. The 'bubbly bath' was a bit noisy but was a great experience. The menu in the restaurant looked a little restricted and fussy on first viewing but we had two meals there and both were very good. The best I can say is […] that next time we are in Chicago we will definitely stay there again (assuming that the prices haven't shot up). Mehr

Everytime I go on a trip, I always spend an excessive amount of time looking for hotels to stay in and even after I book the trip, I'm still looking at reviews and other options. I am extremely satisfied with my choice at the Palomar Chicago and would definitely come back. It's a great location and the hotel is absolutely marvelous. Wonderful and very helpful concierge- went above and beyond. Our two queen room was small, but clean and comfortable. Bathroom door was sliding and didn't close all the way, so all bathroom noise was heard. Quite funny, but may be embarrassing for some. Nice lounge with fireplace in lobby. Valets were quick and friendly. Would definitely recommend, […] but it is not as fancy as some other in the Kimpton line. We have stayed in Chicago every year for the past twenty years to get away. We had friends visit us who wanted to see Chicago. We only had one free night, so we drove down to Chicago and had a very nice stay at Hotel Palomar. The location couldn't have been better. We were right in the middle of everything we wanted to do. Just 2 blocks from Blue Chicago. One block from Rockit for brunch. A couple of blocks from the river and […] a couple of blocks from Michigan Ave. The staff were very nice and helpful. The rooms were clean, comfortable and contemporary. And the bar was THE place to be. I'm not sure why we left the hotel to go anywhere else. I've stayed in many, many downtown hotels in Chicago and this one beats them all. Mehr

I was satisfied with the hotel. The shower/bath was outdated, the old, cheap, showerhead and lack of any place to put a razor or soap really seemed out of phase with the great room, great hotel, and other amenities. Nothing to stop me from going back there next time I'm in town, but turned an A+ into just an A. An easy fix for the hotel though.

For those of us who consider our pups to be as important as our own family members, you will probably not find a better hotel at welcoming them as if they WERE your family members! The friendliness of those behind the desk at check-in couldn't have been better, or their hospitality more warm. Not only did they give my little 'babies' each a complimentary […] gift bag (complete with a bottle of water, portable water dish, a calendar of 'pet' events AND the local restaurants that were pet-friendly), but they provided me the name of an excellent pet sitter that would come to the room and take care of my pups so that I could go have a night on the town. I understand this hotel is pretty new and has only been in existence a year and a half (it was built on a lot that used to be a park). They are well on their way to becoming a favorite, because they couldn't do enough to make me happy and feel welcome. Love this hotel! 5 stars!! Mehr

This was our first time in Chicago and there are so many hotels to choose from it's a bit of a pot luck, but we were very happy with the Palomar, and are sure to stay there again. We stayed for 6 nights between Christmas and New Year. The staff were great - there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, but we asked for a kettle and one was […] delivered while we were out. The location is excellent - a couple of blocks from Michigan, and walkable to Lincoln Park and Downtown. There's a small supermarket and lots of places to eat within a block. The room was spacious and clean, the air con worked, the bed was comfy - what more can you ask for? The only downside was the bar/restaurant area seemed overcrowded, while the restaurant seemed quiet. If you fancy a drink close to 'home' head back over the road to the Rock Bottom Restaurant and Brewery. For a good steak go to Joe's Seafood, Steak and Stone Crab, on the corner of North Rush and Grand. Mehr

Very nice catch from Hotels.com! I have stayed in Chicago many times in the surrounding area (Michigan Avenue) and found the Hotel Palomar (State Street) to be a bargin. I stayed there a few days between Christmas and New Year's, and there were lots of families with kids there, which surprised me. The rooms are new and beautifully modern, hotel staff were friendly, and room service had a limited, but great menu. The hotel bar/ restaurant were good as well. This was my first stay at the Palomar - the staff was extremely pleasant right from the valets to the front desk. The room was very nice - and one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in at a hotel. Interesting artwork in the halls - great wine tasting hour (free) - great bar with entertaining "mixologists" offering a huge/unique drink menu. […] Sable restaurant is excellent - but busy, so book ahead. Great location - near several clubs/restaurants/shopping/Michigan Ave. I read the other reviews and I'm shocked anyone could say anything negative about the Palomar in view of my experience! Although the staff were friendly and helpful and the bedroom/bathroom set up was what you would expect from a 4 star downtown hotel, the common areas were not adequate for the number of patrons. The lobby has a huge desk dwarfing the rest of the space making it crowded and somewhat claustrophobic when checking in/out or trying to get concierge services. […] The sitting area was packed during the happy hour making it difficult to sit or even get a glass of wine. People were lined up in the entrance area almost to the front door. My suggestion is to have all the red and white wines prepoured so people could pick up a glass instead of pouring for each guest. The pool, one of the reasons I chose the hotel was very small and there was no way to swim around the kids jumping in and out of the pool. The exercise room was packed making it difficult to get on any equipment at all not to mention the one you really wanted to use. Also one night the bar was so packed you couldn't sit anywhere. Although the next night was better and it is a nice bar. So... if you just want in and out of your room and skip all common areas, it is clean, comfortable and well located. Mehr

Nice rooms, clean, but needs to do something about the elevators... long waits. The pool and work out room are next to each other... but wait no showers for either. could be come a little nasty in that pool. Over all great location, good rooms.

Wonderful staff. Great location. Very nice hotel. No issues to speak of.

The hotel is beautiful and very comfortable, with large rooms (King city view) and a nice bar/restaurant. Very close to shopping, dining, and easy to get to museums, attractions, etc. The red line rail stops right on the corner so public transit was easy to and from Midway. We decided to stay here because we thought it was in the heart of the Magnificent Mile. While it's not far, it's not the greatest location. The hotel is clean and fresh and the staff is really great but I think there are better choices. Not really sure how this hotel rates #3 among all hotels in Chicago on Trip Advisor. Maybe Trip Advisor isn't really […] all that reputable. Still, a decent choice for a place to stay in Chicago but probably not the third best in this city. Mehr

If your going to have white carpeting in your lobby it should be cleaned -- often. Other then that --the room was very nice and cleaned. We will stay at The Palomar again.

Fantastic hotel with a great vibe and very comfortable. Loved the wine from 5-6 where everyone was talking to each other. Also nice touch in the morning with hot chocolate for the kids and it was fantastic also. I will definitely stay again.
