Hotel was fine and the discounted price was about right. Unfortunately a leaking gutter/Downpipe during rain meant very little sleep. Reception didn't seem tt interested when I reported it.. Meals were small for the price, but quality was OK.

We chose this location mainly for its convenient location, but benefitted from a very good rate that was neither available from other booking websites nor direct because of the short notice. Despite our late arrival, we were greeted cheerfully and politely, and will have no hesitation about staying here again. The only downsides were the early checkout […] time, which on this occasion did not pose a problem, and being presented with a bill, despite having prepaid. This was quickly resolved. Mehr

Comfortable and overall enjoyable stay in an efficiently run hotel. Sadly the following detracted from it being excellent. The standard double room supplied would have been small for two people, the ironing board having to be stored in the barely adequate wardrobe space. Excellent bathroom but one expects a shaver point as standard in a bathroom. For […] a hotel of this class only four standard channels available on the TV is poor. Poor wi-fi coverage. Extremely noisy with much banging of doors into the night. The room was booked as part of a reduced rate offer and as such was acceptable, at normal rates the shortcomings would make it difficult to recommend. Mehr

Good Hotel, I liked the special offer price. Near to Gatwick.

I booked this hotel late, as I had an early flight from Gatwick and the rate was very good. Location is excellent for Gatwick Airport and also very relaxing. I was disappointed to be placed in the Lodge section which was a short drive from the main building, as I did not want to have to waste time driving back to main building in the morning to check […] out. The Lodge section itself is very nice, but with only two parking spaces and both occupied, I had to leave my hire car parked on the hotel entrance road, which was irritating. The room was very pleasant, reasonably maintained and mostly clean, except for a hair in the bed and some dusty services. A bulb was also gone in the bathroom and TV reception was very poor. I was annoyed to find the reception desk unmanned at 4.30AMthe next morning as I was in a rush to the airport. Despite the room being paid in advance it also took several minutes to clarify that I was not responsible for mysterious charges that appeared on my bill. Mehr

Got the room on one of thier special deals. As we drove up, we were preparing ourselves for a terrible stay and reminding ourselves how much more can be spent on fun stuff with all the savings. The main hotel looked impressive. The staff were pleasant, eager to help, and quick. When they told me that our room was in the lodge near the entrance, I thought […] here we go. It will be a bleak 70s style cubicle with no amenities. What a shock.! The room was modern, well kept and stylish with everything that you would expect from a quality chain. When I called about the heating not working, they came (walking) and turned up the thermostat. Doh! Overall a very pleasant experience. Mehr

what a great hotel with a great price

A lovely pre Christmas night of relaxation. The old manor house was beautiful. Our room was on the top floor of this building, small, but very comfortable. The staff were really friendly and helpful. My only slight issue with the whole stay was the limited menu in the restaurant, but having said that we did enjoy what we had ordered. In other reviews of this hotel I was told to expect a very small double bed. As I had paid a very low rate for a double room to be used only by myself, I wasn't bothered about that. The bed was, indeed, tiny; but the room was absolutely perfect for one. Very tastefully decorated and furnished and the bed was really comfortable. The staff are wonderful […] and extremely professional. The food I ordered for room service was excellent and plentiful. The problem that the hotel has been facing, that of actually being more of a conference centre than the romantic getaway that the beautiful main house leads many to hope for, is being addressed and in future the rooms like mine will be sold as singles. If you want to be in the main house and have a view then I'm guessing that you'll have to ask, and then pay, for that. But the cheap rooms are just fine and the area is beautiful. My only criticism would be that much of the paint work, in the rooms and corridors, could do with a wash and sprucing up. The handyman, who went way beyond his remit to help me, is kept relentlessly busy and De Vere need to get a paintwork hit squad in. Mehr

Beautiful building set in pleasant surroundings. My room was well appointed but small. However, I didn't mind as I was travelling on my own. The food at the restaurant was nice and it was great having free WIFI in the room. My only disappointment was the little choice of channels available on TV.

Rooms at this hotel are for females only, they have no shaver sockets. Evening meal had grit in the spinach. Breakfast had no Tomato Juice, Marmite, Hot croissants, Weetabix. Even a Banana in the bowl was split, and the waitress had never heard of Darjeeling. Feedback forms to this hotel are never acknowledged, presumably because they don't care […] . Mehr
