Liberty Inn - Old Saybrook

Well after reading reviews on the hotel i figured wow this place cant be bad for the price......Soon as i pulled up i could tell it was a cheap hotel but still gave it a shot. I wanted to just stay over night for a wedding. When i opened the door it smelled awful and the room was nasty. We pulled the bedding off and there were so many stains on the […] mattress i have no clue what happened there but i wanted to throw up. The bathroom fan was so lound we couldnt even hear eachother talking i honestly was in shock about this place and never write reviws but i had to on this one! Other people from the wedding stayed there also and were saying the EXACT same thing that we did. I do not recommend staying at this hotel ever. Clean up your act please. Mehr

It was a dump- I couldn't believe it. Our comforter had holes in it. The sheets had elastic instead of fitted sheets. The bathroom was about 50 years old with patches on the wall. The carpet was filthy. I was shocked i booked this place through Hotels.com.

DISGUSTING. They still allow smoking, which is insane considering less than 5% of the population actually smokes. So when you get a "non-smoking" room, it's right next to a smoking room so your room STINKS from smoke. The beds are old and gross and very uncomfortable. Don't get tricked into the "free" breakfast - it's just stale muffins and cereal. […] Wish I spent the extra $10 and stayed at a decent place. Would have better off sleeping in my car Mehr

Like the Hotel and extremely clean for a motel. Its one best motel I have stayed in.

Room was clean, but there were smoking rooms around us so we could smell the smoke coming through the vents/floors. Hotel is very close to the highway so it is pretty loud when trying to sleep. Overall, not a bad place for a quick stay at a good price.

This is a motel. Room was basically clean, but loud. Could hear other guests' television through the walls. Way too much money for what you get, and I usually rate hotels all 5's. Annoyed it cost so much.

For a one night stay this place is perfect. The staff was helpful, the room was clean.

This is an economy motel with nice amenities that you'd find at more exense lodging. Iron, ironing board, hair dryer, shampoo, hair conditioner, fridge, microwave, clock,TV are included. Firm mattresses but sucky, soft pillows. The manager said they are replacing them. It's a good deal for the money since the inns and B&Bs in this expensive shore neighbood […] are double the price. after 2 showers the water was 4 inches deep as the tub didn't drain. Room 26, the sink wasn't much better. convenience was the only reason we chose as it was centrally located for a weekend travel. pillows, not much to them

We were desperate for a place to stay in Old Saybrook to attend an event, and all other places were either booked or required a two night stay. This was our last choice and we expected it to be low-end, but we would have been better off sleeping in the car. Hotel is literally right next to the highway, you will hear loud road noise all night. Room was […] borderline disgusting - dark and smelly, old dirty bathroom with a door that did not close, sticky tabletop surfaces, and a giant fly in the room. Luckily we brought our own sheets and pillows for the dingy, hard, lumpy bed. The only positives were that the front desk staff was friendly and check in/out was easy. Maybe in my 20's a place like this would have been okay, but in my late 30's it is definitely not. Just know what you are getting into. Next time I would drive further out and get into a better hotel. Mehr

Great place to stay for an overnight...Right next to 95, but noise is not an issue...Hotel is a little dated and old, but I would stay again for a one night stay

I call this a hidden treasure because the directions acquired off the internet took me thru back roads to get there - except that it is actually, quite conveniently, right off I-95, exit 68, which I found by accident on the 2nd day. I was very pleased with the service - my requests for extra items were satisfied right away. The room was clean, well […] appointed, and very comfortable. Everything in the room worked and all the usual amenities were provided, including a refrigerator. I thought the highway noise might be a problem, but it actually faded into the background and was quite soothing. Even the landscaping outside was clean and well cared for. The hotel has very easy access to I-95 and Route 9. It is an old hotel and in need of improvements. The front desk manager was very friendly and pleasant to communicate with. The shower tiles were old, but the bathroom was clean. The pillows were lumpy and have seen "better days." Old Saybrook is a great town to visit and enjoyed dinner at local Italian […] restaurant - Tiberios. It was about a 10 minute drive from the hotel. Mehr

I attended a friends wedding in Westbrook and decided to stay at this place. I was pleasantly surprised. For the price I paid for the room this place exceeded my expectations. My room was nice and clean. The front desk staff was helpful. It would have been nice if there was a restaurant on site but we found a great restaurant on the water called Dock […] and Dine. This is a great little town, I would stay here again. Mehr
