The Inn At Del Monte Beach - Monterey

Das Del Monte hatte uns bei unserer Kalifornien Reise sehr gefallen. Wie alle Hotels der Reise war es zwar nicht gerade billig, verglichen mit anderen Hotelketten aber sehr charmant und in Monterey eines der günstigeren Hotels. Unser Zimmer war sehr klein, aber ok, das Bad relativ groß. Uns hat es nicht weiter gestört, da wir uns für eine Nacht wohl […] fühlen konnten. Und wir waren froh, mal keinen Teppichboden zu haben. Die Lage ist nicht ganz ideal, aber zu Fuß ist noch alles zu erreichen.Dafür ist der Strand direkt vor der Haustür. Die Dachterasse bietet einen einen Ausblick auf die umliegende Gegend und Liegestühle, auf denen man sich sonnen kann. Ein riesigere BarbecueGrill kann bei Bedarf wohl auch genutzt werden. Autos kann man problemlos in der umliegenden Straßen abstellen. Der Besitzer ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit, es gibt einen Drink an der Bar for free und das Frühstück war eines der besten auf unserer Reise. Mehr

Mies gelaunte Inn-Keeperin, minimal kleines Zimmer, muffige BettwÄsche. Hotel Webseite würde einiges mehr erwarten lassen

Das Hotel ist schön gebaut, sauber und gepflegt und die Angestellten sind sehr freundlich.

We had a wonderful stay. The owners were so nice and helpful. Breakfast was superb and there is a roof top for relaxing or dining with a view of the ocean. Walking distance to Wharf and fine restaurants. Definitely would like to return.

Great breakfast!

Pros: Great location with access to to beach and bike path in 5 minutes. The service was amazing and they were very accommodating. Free drink and snack each night was a plus and the bar was great to have right there. The roof top was like Jersey Shore with great views of the beach and a fun vibe. The free breakfast was all made to order and was great. […] CONS: Drove past the place because it is right off the main road and is hard to see. Parking is tough but the side streets were pretty open. The rooms were small and we could hear everyone outside our room and felt everyone outside our room could hear us talk. The shower had a hole in the floor, they forgot to give us towels after they made up our room. The wall had some stains on it and the elevator was the slowest I have ever been on. But the service was such a plus and we had a good time in the area. If only they fixed some of the minor things it would be great. They already are top on service. Mehr

We were very disappointed to be stuck in a queen-sized bed on the road side of the inn when I'm sure I requested either King-size bed or two queens. My husband is 6'6' and I can't sleep well with him in a small bed. This is a small European type hotel with a set menu breakfast. Family run - very friendly and helpful they went the extra mile to make our stay wonderfull. Short walk to beach and Wharf. Located 4 feet from busy highway, no parking (3 spaces in back, "streets are very safe" to park on, we were to;d); dark hallway, light bulbs go on as you walk one-by-one as you walk past motion sensor; overall dark and mid-eastern throughout. the room was small, but the hostess and waiters were wonderful ... old style european feel ... breakfast was great!

It was difficult to spot the hotel as there was only qa small sign over the door saying "The Inn". Parking was back through an alley about a foot wider than our car. Upon entering the front door we thought we were in a German Gast Haus. The proprietor was very pleasant. The room was very small and oddly shaped. It was also on Del Monte Blvd. and very […] noisy. I was not given the room I paid for! I paid for a third floor suite and I was given a second floor room that was nothing like the suite. The heated floor didn't work other than three tiles in random locations. The tub/shower was small and dirty. The phone in the room didn't work at all. There was no ice bucket or cups in the room you had to ask for […] them. When I told the hotel owners that I was in the wrong room I was told there was nothing they could do! After talking with other hotel guest I know the rate I paid was much more than them. Mehr

We called because we were lost. The answering machine picked up and we never got a call back. When we did arrive, we waited 5 minutes until the manager (owner?) came to the front. She asked for our name about 6 times. She then said we wern't suppose to be there until the next day. I showed her our email confirmation, and she then tried to email hotel.com. […] Eventually, she found it. Aside from that glitch, our stay was great. The room was small but comfortable. The breakfast, which was included, was delicious. We thought it a great deal for the price. Mehr

Three of the four lightbulds were burned out in the room. The room was very small and there were no windows. There was a door that opened into a bricked patio that was 3 feet wide and 10 feet long shared by 2 other rooms, all of which had a key on the outside of the door which put security in question. The parking consisted of 4 spaces down a narrow […] alleyway and was extremely difficult to get in and out of. Tnere are 18 rooms in the hotel so many of us had to park on the street several blocks away. The ocean view was a joke...the ocean view pictures posted on line are from the roof which is accessable via the staircase or a ladder outside the room on the alley patio. This hotel was an absolute delight! I loved the atmosphere and the decor of the hotel. I felt like I was in a little hotel in Europe somewhere. The only downside was that it wasn't very conveniently located. It was right off of the street and a little tough to find, but it was well worth the small inconvenience. We thoroughly enjoyed our night at the hotel. It has old "charm" enhanced with modern amenities. It is obviously a labor of love by the staff. Two things would make it better and I'm sure both are known items. A more noticeable street presence and more generous parking. Small room, bartender who is owner went to bed before bar closed. couldn't find hotel, because entry way is dangerously next to busy street. room is way too small. Not cozy. great roof access.

The hotel was awesome manager is great with people made us feel comfy .The rooms are small but nice well worth the price I will defetnetly come back breakfast was great.

great location, with in walking distance of the major attractions. Great service, free breakfast, and happy hour drinks.

I loved every minute of my stay. I am already planning my next trip and will stay there again. Everyone from the owners to the staff were friendly and helpful. They serve a full breakfast every morning and provide their guess with a happy hour every evening. I recommend this hotel.

I called for exact location, and the manager came out on the sidewalk to make sure I pulled in at the right address. The owner was there and was very friendly and happy to recommend a restaurant as he poured my complimentary glass of wine. The room was small, but comfortable; bath robes were hanging in the modern armoir and a large spa tub which could […] accommodate two was in the bathroom. I took a peek at the rooftop patio and wished the weather were milder so I could stay and finish my wine. The complimentary breakfast the next morning was a lavish helping of French toast(somehow filled with cream cheese!) with sausage and fresh fruit. Coffee with cream was delish. The Inn is a little way out of town but you can walk in easily enough. There is a small car park but plenty of car parking in the neighbouring streets. Our room was on the second (third) floor but there is a lift. The room was not large but there was a fire, TV and spa bath. There are free drinks in the evening at the bar which is a really nice way to meet other guests. There were also snacks provided which were very good. The roof terrace is delightful in the late afternoon with a good view over the ocean. Breakfast was included and was fantastic with excellent and friendly service. Monterey is certainly worth a visit to see Cannery Row, the aquarium and the seals. Lovely walk around Fisherman's Wharf and lots of good places to eat. Mehr

The room we were in was very small, but SO comfortable. Bathroom was ultra modern with a Bidet, loved that. The service was beyond Fabulous, they couldn't have been more willing to make our stay as pleasant as it was. This was a perfect anniversary weekend for us.

My boyfriend and I stayed here. Granted the rooms are very small, due to the fact it was orginally a hostel and only had 3 bathrooms for 18 rooms they had to add bathrooms to all rooms which decreased the size considerably. This hotel was very nice for two. The picture on the internet make the rooms seem larger than what the rooms really are, but they were cozy. Breakfast was unque and the staff were very nice to deal with... We would stay there again on our next visit.

The couple who have renovated the Del Monte Inn did a wonderful job! A small hotel big on modern conveniences and comfort, the Inn was reminiscent of Bay Area Boutiques -- quaint and elegant. In addition to its lovely surroundings, the Inn was VERY reasonably priced; Happy Hour (first drink on the house) and the complimentary breakfast made this Inn […] an even better value! It was a bit hard to see from the road when finding it for the first time -- the building itself is a bit non-descript -- but the location is a straight shot to all of the sights of Monterey AND The Fish House, a fantastic eatery, is just up the road! I was very nervous for my stay at this hotel. At first I remember seeing their incredibly low price for what seemed to be a great room in a great location, therefore I went to their website and checked them out. I called and asked what the difference in rooms were considering that my rate was much lower and the front desk person was happy to respond […] that it was simply me being lucky and catching their promotion. Excitedly I swooped it up. However, as the days approached and I kept on reading the reviews and i saw that some of them were specially negative. I could not believe it and I was afraid that our trip would tank. We could not have been more wrong. Our trip was delightful. Although the room is comparatively small to other hotels, my husband and I didn't mind a single bit becuase Monterey was a great place to explore and our hotel would serve as a resting place. The terrace is heavenly as is the breakfast. I loved the decorating and the staff was great. The beach was a short walk away and I loved how the hotel was so close to hiking paths and Fisherman's Wharf. The only place my husband and I drove to was the Aquarium. The noice level was not bad and overall it was a GREAT location. I looove this place and we will definitely book again. I recommend for a romantic gateaway. Not more. Mehr

I was scared to stay at this hotel after seeing the reviews on it. The Inn is in a great location, its easy to get a cab and even walk to fishermans warf, its a longer walk but when I visit places I enjoy long walks. When i arrived at the hotel i got there earlier and I wanted to see if I could have an early check in. THey said I had to wait till 3. […] I came back at 7 and only one room was left 102. This room was fine I didnt hear much noise. When I was checking in I left a white bag on the desk by accident when I realized it was gone,,, when I was already in the room I went back and the owner didnt see it. Either someone took it or well I dunno but I was pretty livid about this. The room is small but cozy and I enjoyed the electric fireplace. The showers were extremely nice and had extra jets that some how left a puddle outside the shower. Some people might think thats horrible but it really isnt. For the money I paid and all the real nice accommodations I know I would totally stay there again. The room was decorated nicely the roof top deck was a nice bonus and the breakfast was fantastic. This place has a different type of hotel experience that IS NOT A CHAIN. But be advised if you are looking to be weighted on hand and foot this place is not for you. but if you want to try something different and cozy and fun I highly recommend this place. We booked a deluxe room but it was a tiny, cold room we got on the 2nd floor. The bed was so close to the wall that each time when we went by we hit your head on the TV on the wall. The heating system contained a fake fireplace which took forever to heat up the room. There was NO desk or table where we could put our belongings. The phone's cord had […] a 2-inch cord so we had to sit on the floor to call the main desk... The bathroom was nice but no counter place to put our lotion or toothbrush. After all, it was not a nice experience. The lady at the front desk was not friendly enough, she didn't even say good-bye or come back soon.... Mehr

This is obviously a family affair and they do try hard to make your stay as pleasant as possible. It is almost impossible to find and you haven't a prayer of parking your car on site, though the nearby street is safe enough---just not what you would expect when staying in Monterey. But the people? Very pleasant and worth the bother. The staff was friendly and the location wasn't too bad. The only problem is that there's no air circulation in the room which made it very stuffy. From the looks of it, it looks like there's no AC, only a heater. We had to open the window, but when we close it b/c it got too cold at night, the room got stuffy as well.

My boyfriend and I stayed here and it was amazing! Don't be fooled by the exterior look of the building or location. Once you get inside, there is an inviting fireplace and bar and you are instantly greeted by the inn owners. This inn seemed more like a fancy bed and breakfast! The included "continental breakfast" was more like a gourmet one. It was […] delicious and took place in a dining area with detailed decorations, beautiful table settings, and great service. The first room we checked into had problems with window handle, the window wouldn't close all the way. The handle was broken. The room's furnace/faux fireplace was broken. They politely put us in another room. The bed moves away from the headboard attached to the wall. When that occured I found a condom wrapper underneath the bedframe. The water for […] the shower never got completely warm enough. The handle on one of the closets was missing. The bed was uncomfortable. The best thing about the stay was the complimentary breakfast the next morning. It was very tasteful- the service at breakfast was above average. Mehr

The owners are a sweet couple and have done a great job renovating this place, it is very cute inside. But be aware that this B&B is located in a neighborhood that feels a bit sketchy and the street is very noisy. If you're looking to get away to a peaceful place, this may not be the right choice.

This Inn is very attractively and is squeaky clean.However, the Superior room was tiny and very cold with no way to warm it up. The blankets on the bed were also very attractive but also very thin and we really were cold all night. Breakfast was served at 8AM only and there was no coffee available until that time. Don't be fooled by this advertisement. The property is run down and is in the middle of a McDonalds and another business. The window to your room is about 3 feet away from the brick wall to another building. It is TERRIBLE. Furthermore the management is HORRIBLE! The lady Negwa, refused to allow us to cancel our room and even began making racial slurs […] to me and my girlfriend (we are caucasian). She even refused to write down the managers name and told us to "Do it ourselves." This hotel is in the middle of the ghetto and it is NOT walking distance to any attraction. Do NOT STAY THERE. If you want a hotel, go three blocks down and stay at the Cannery Row Inn. The hotel is $30 less, offers a great breakfast, rooms with a view of the bay (unlike this one), and walking distance to all the shops and attractions. Mehr

If you're expecting a Vegas-style suite with a 1000 sq-ft room with amenities galore, this place is not for you. But if you want a cozy comfortable stay to relax, with wonderful hosts, then this place is it! Though the rooms are a bit small, it's extremely cozy.
