Gutes Hotel, in unmittelbarer Nähe zur Wallstreet , am südlichsten Ende des Broadway. Sehr nette Bedienung. Enges aber sauberes Zimmer mit zwei Kingsize-Betten.

Frühstück im Hotelrestaurant empfehlenswert, sehr nette Bedienung. Infostand für Sightseeing im Hotel sehr gut. Karten tlw. kostenfrei. Mexik. Pub +Chinarestaurant ca. 200 m entfernt. Wir waren sehr zufrieden mit dem Hotel. Das Zimmer war sauber, zweckmäßig und der Service freundlich und aufmerksam. In direkter Nähe befinden sich viele Sehenswürdigkeiten (Stock Exchange, 9/11 Memorial, Trinity Church) und man erreicht 3 verschiedene Subway-Stationen innerhalb weniger Gehminuten. Außerdem die Fähre nach LongIsland bzw. den Anleger für die Boote zur Freiheitsstatue und Elis Island. Da an der Wallstreet Abends/ Nachts nicht ganz so viel los ist, kann man - für NYC-Verhältnisse - relativ ruhig schlafen, v.a. im Vergleich mit der Gegend rund um den TimesSquare usw. Ein kleines, aber feines, familiengeführtes (so schien es) Hotel, dass wir auf alle Fälle weiterempfehlen würden!

"Gutes Hotel in schlechter Umgebung aber zentral"
Das Hotel ist sauber und gut, wenn man die Preise mit anderen Hotels in NY vergleicht. Leider ist die Umgebung sehr schlecht. Von der U-Bahn zum Hotel sind es ca. 250 Meter. Auf dem Weg begegnet man vielen Empfänger von Transferleistungen. Die Polizei ist auch öfter anwesend . Wir waren eine Woche dort. Es ist uns nichts passiert. Jedoch, sind wir immer […] schnell von der Haltestelle ins Hotel gelaufen. Wohl und sicher fühlten wir uns dann nur im Hotel. Mit Kindern würde ich das Hotel nicht empfehlen. "Preiswert und Verkehrsgünstig gelegen"
Ich war mit meiner Freundin eine Woche dort. Das Hotel ist ein recht neuer Turm mit 10 Stockwerken. Das Gebäude und die Zimmer machen einen tadellosen Eindruck. Wir hatten ein Zimmer auf der Westseite und damit auch den tollen Ausblick über die Queensbridge und Manhatten. Es war zufällig ein für Rollstuhlfahrer optimiertes mit besonders viel Platz, […] allerdings gab es dadurch im Bad keinerlei Ablagemöglichkeiten. Es gibt ein großes Klimagerät an der Wand, dass sich auch tadellos bedienen läst und einen Save den man nicht nur über Zahlen sondern auch mit einer Kreditkarte öffnen und schließen kann. Der Internetzugang läuft ohne Probleme und ist auch schnell genug. Das Frühstück war ebenfalls in Ordnung. Es ist eben nur das sogenannte Continental Breakfast mit Cornflakes, Toast, Bagels und Kuchen. Die meisten Hotels in den USA haben aber gar kein Frühstück oder es kostet extra. Die beiden Frühstücksräume sind recht klein, weshalb es schon mal eng werden kann. Wir haben aber immer noch einen Platz bekommen und auf dem Buffet war auch immer noch alles vorhanden. Für uns in Deutschland mag es komisch erscheinen das nur Einweggeschirr verwendet wird, in den USA ist das aber wohl so üblich. Die U-Bahnstation Queensbridge / 21 Street ist nur etwa 250 Meter entfernt. Von dort fährt die F-Linie in wenigen Minuten hinüber nach Manhatten. Unter optimalen Bedingungen schafft man es auch in kaum 30 Minuten bis zur Westside und kommt noch pünktlich zum Broadway Musical wie wir getestet haben ;-) Zum Flughafen JFK sind es mit der Express U-Bahn und dem Airtrain etwa 1,5 Stunden. Die Umgebung macht nicht gerade den gepflegtesten Eindruck aber das stört nicht weiter. Es gibt ein paar ältere Mietshäuser, kleinere Betriebe wie eine Tischlerei gleich nebenan und ein paar Geschäfte. Um die Sicherheit braucht man sich nicht zu sorgen offenbar. Wir hatten nie irgend welche Probleme auch nicht um 1 Uhr morgens nach dem Musical. Insgesammt kann man das Hotel voll empfehlen, zu mal es deutlich Mehr

Frühstück war für amerikanische Verhältnisse ganz ok, Parkplatz war kostenlos vorm Hotel vorhanden, der Weg nach Manhattan doch etwas länger mit mehrmaligen Umsteigen je nach Ziel, Wir hatten schöne Aussicht auf Manhattan Am Tag des Auscheckens wurden wir um punkt 11 Uhr von der Putzfrau aufgefordert, das Zimmer zu verlassen.

Das Hotel liegt in Long Island City in Queen. Die Umgebung ist nicht so interessant, man ist mit der Linie F allerdings sehr schnell an allen wichtigen Adressen. Der Service war freundlich, es gibt auch ein kleines Frühstück, bei dem man aber nicht immer einen freien Platz findet. Zimmer und Hotel sind sauber und in gutem Zustand.

"TOP Preis-Leistungsverhältnis"
Das Hotel liegt direkt in der Nähe zu einer Subway-Station. Von dort aus ist man schnell im Herzen von Manhatten. Die Zimmer waren sehr gut ausgestattet und in einem guten Zustand. Sogar das Frühstück war gut (wie überall in den USA aber sehr Zuckerlastig)!! Ich würde dieses Hotel jederzeit wieder buchen!!

Typical U.S. budget hotel for price sensitive travellers (book early). Helpful staff at reception, spacious, quite clean rooms. Want to […] have a nice view on Manhattan? - Go on the roof early in the morning, when first sunrays touch Manhattan or ask for rooms on floors 6-10 facing Manhattan. You will like it. Multicultural neighbourhood, would not recommend to persons that get easily scared, particularly not after dark. - However I never experienced a problem and I was travelling alone. What else: Cheapest transfer from JFK is the airtrain from all terminals US$ 5 to Sutphin boulevard + subway E (blue) to Jackson heights + F line (orange)to 21st Queensboro bridge at an additional US$ 2.25. - Cheap and convenient if you don't carry too much baggage. "Das Howard Johnson ist günstig und gut"
Anbindung per U-Bahn nach Manhatten ist schnell und gut, Zimmer sind sauber und wenn man das Zimmer mit Blick nach Manhatten bekommt, hat man besonders Abends einen tollen Ausblick. Der Frühstücksraum ist leider zu klein, aber man kommt klar da ständig ein paar Plätze frei werden.

Einchecken war trotz früher Anreise unproblematisch. Hotel liegt in einem Mischgebiet von Wohnungen und Firmen. U-Bahn-Station ist ca. 300 m. entfernt. Man fühlt sich auch abends sicher. Man fährt mit der U-Bahn wenige Stadtionen nach Manhatten. Auch das Frühstück ist akzeptabel - manchmal ist der Raum dafür etwas klein.

Das Hotel liegt an der Metro-Station "21 Street" (Queens) der Linie F , die in guten 10 Minuten am Times Square ist. Daher ist es eine günstige Alternative zu den teureren Hotels, welche direkt in Manhattan liegen. Die Qualität der Zimmer ist sehr gut. Das Hotel liegt an der Long Island. Ist eine sehr ruhige Ort. Keine grosse Möglichkeiten, was Restaurant oder Bars angeht. Aber Subway Station liegt gleich um die Ecke mit der man nach 3 Stationen an der Times Square ist. Preisleistung stimmt.

"So-So hotel in dicey neighborhood"
While the Howard Johnsons Inn in Long island City is easily accessible to Manhattan (2 stops on the F train) and is only 2 blocks from the train station, the surrounding neighborhood is distressed and a bit scary at night. A swarm of hoodlums from the nearby projects always hangout around the subway escalators and I would not recommend this hotel for […] out-of-town tourists. I would suggest guests use taxi if they are to arrive late evening after 8:00PM. The hotel lobby is a bit messy and the front desk is a bit surly. The rooms are small but adequate and the room was clean. On the plus side is the complimentary breakfast, complimentary airport shuttle (to all 3 airports) and the price. Mehr

"the location is a little... lol..."
I won't mince words, it's pretty much in the projects of Queens LOL. But I'm from NYC so it didn't really bother me. Thing is though, for tourists this is great because its a very short walk to the train and you're literally in Manhattan in 10 minutes. The hotel was clean, the staff guy was helpful. They should tell you ahead of time how to turn the […] shower on though, I nearly broke the handle off! And when I called the front desk asking how to turn it on he said, "Ah, that's our secret! Well..." which tells me I'm not the only one who couldn't figure it out. One thing that did ANNOY ME was when I was sleeping and the dang maid BANGED on my door asking if we were checking out AN HOUR before checkout time! Scared the crap out of my and my friend! That wasn't cool. They really shouldn't knock until AFTER 11. But other than that, I would come back and stay at the hotel. It was clean and you can't beat that price. Mehr

The hotel was ok, needs some updates, wallpeper was coming off and carpets were very stained. Also, the nighborhood was very scary.

NYC can sometimes be a challenge for visitors when looking for a place to stay. Manhattan is wildly expensive, and you never know what you're going to find in the outer boroughs. Fortunately, this hotel seemed to work out pretty well for us. The location is very convenient, as it is less than a 5 minute walk to the Subway (the F train, which is only […] 2 stops away from Manhattan). The surrounding neighborhood is a mix of businesses, some apartments, and some car repair shops. Despite the gritty look of the neighborhood, we never felt like there was any danger. If you're driving in, be forewarned that parking at the hotel is extremely limited. When we got there, all the spaces were filled, and all we could do was park on the street. The street is pretty well parked in most times during the day due to the nearby businesses, but we found a space on the street. The spaces at the hotel are first come, first served--we lucked out and got one about an hour after check-in when one opened up--I ran out and moved my car to it (the parking is free, so when you find a space, put your car there and don't move it! The room was small-ish, but the size was really no problem. It was well appointed, with a new bed and new TV. The bathroom is basic but nicely outfitted. There was a basic, but nice-to-have continental breakfast in the morning (which got very, very busy while we were there). Now, for the not so great... The cover on our bed was a bit dirty, so we didn't use it, of course. We left a note and the next day, it was changed. Also, the bathroom surfaces were not as clean as they should be--taking a damp paper towel across the sink yielded a bit of grime. Not good. Some better cleaning would have made the stay a little better. Also, the pillows on the bed are little square ones, and are pretty thin, so if you require extra neck support (as I do), you may be disappointed by this. "Overall satisfactory but had a couple of problems"
We were given a handicap room, and unfortunately that meant absolutely no counter space inside the bathroom. So we had absolutely nowhere to place our toiletries or even clothing since the toilet had no lid. Ended up pulling the office chair into the bathroom to use it for our counter/shelf space. Also, the night clerk forgot to give us back our credit […] card and photo ID. We did not realize it till the next day while sightseeing, and that left us with many hours of worry. Moreover, the hotel staff took a long time to figure out what happened, and it was not till we asked to get a police report that they finally came up with the cards. This place is not worth it. Service was extremely poor. The day I came the guy at the front desk didn't even bother looking up to address me. He ask what I wanted and I asked if we could check in early. Still not looking at me, he just told me check-in is at 3pm. Such poor manners. He was not very professional or courteous to guests. When I came back […] later that night to check-in he was still there and busy channel surfing for cartoon network or something like that as I stood at the front desk. I had to wait for him to finish looking for his TV station before he addressed me. I informed him that I had reservations and that I was checking-in. So he took my ID and credit card, and apparently I didn't find out until the next morning that he confused me for another reservation booked by a woman with the same last name. Serious, he had my ID card so it wouldn't have been hard to verify the reservation. So in the end if the receptionist in the early morning didn't catch this then I would have been charged for someone else's room. I would never stay at this place again. Mehr

Good - very good rate - 1/3 of the going rate of hotels on Manhattan - close to subway - literally 10 min away from TimeSquare. - indoor parking and euro breakfast both included with the stay. - ideal for budget trip - Late check-in at no extra charge Not So Good - location in an industrial area - a bit run down and some welfare housing - looks unsafe […] at first glance - but we have not witnessed any incidents. "Close to the city and a great value"
This hotel was just across the river from Manhattan and very near the Subway. It isn't really possible to walk to Manhattan, but if you are ok taking the subway this is a fantastic deal! The continental breakfast was great as well, and all the staff were friendly and helpful!

We personally did not have any problems but potential guests should be aware that the neighborhood of the hotel is not very nice. The hotel is right next to the Queensbridge projects. The hotel itself was ok for a 2-star.

While the surrounding neighborhood looks rough, we had no problems whatsoever. We never felt threatened or in harm's way. We came and went at all times of the day and night without incident. "Beware"
This hotel was barely acceptable. The location was the main drawback. The neighborhood might make one feel uncomfortable. There is no place to walk to except the subway, and only the 7 train comes here. Don't believe you will be able to park at the hotel. There are almost no spaces available. Instead you'll be parking your car on the street, wherever […] you can find a spot. Our car was safe, but even street parking is limited. The room and other amenities were ok, but the location and lack of parking bring this place down. Mehr

"Breakfast not as bad as we expected."
Previous reviews complained about lack of variety of food and lack of space to eat at the continental breakfast. My wife and I found it to be an average continental breakfast, nothing worth complaining about. As far as the space provided, the hotel opened an extra eating area when the main room filled up, so we had room to sit down and eat.

"Captive clientele"
With a location so close to manhattan and cheap rates they will be full regardless of what the hotel looks like or how they treat people. Sadly they've let both lapse to mediocrity. Ok if you need a bed and not much more.
"NYC proximity, cheaper than NYC prices"
We chose this hotel because of its proximity to Manhattan and the reviews. It may only be 2 stars but it's way better than that. The only really bad thing about it is the surrounding neighborhood - it's ok for daytime walking but we did taxis at night. It was only about $14 from Irving plaza to the hotel my cab, and there's close proximity to subway […] stops for daytime. The hotel was kept clean as are the rooms - a little small but good furnishings, and the hotel staff was incredibly friendly. Would definitely recommend it if you don't want to pay Downtown prices Mehr

Overall my time at this hotel was good. My only complaint is concierge. I wanted to book a day trip to Washington DC but the man at the concierge desk had no idea how to book it for me and asked me to come back later when his supervisor was there. He wasn't there that night, so when I tried to book it again with another person at concierge, the trip […] was booked up so I was very disappointed. And I don't know who they use for their shuttle service but the driver I had was a lunatic and got road rage and called another driver a very derrogotive name. It was very unprofessional. Close to subway, very friendly and helpful staff, nice room and clean. We wanted to see if staying in Long Island City was just as good as staying in Manhattan at a lower room price and the results were yes! Nice hotel, thanks!
