L'Escapade îlot Maître - Nouméa

Decorated in early Motel 6/Reichtag style, and expected amenities like WiFI and phone did not work. Cannot understand how it rated a 4 1/2 stars. Whole place is designed for large groups, and in our case, occupancy was 99% Japanese. Felt like someone cut a good packaged deal - buffet meals and all.

Great spot to relax, nice bungalow, clean big resort pool with a bar snack open till 2.00pm.Staff @ the reception need to be nicer to clients!

Absolutely magnificent setting. Kids will remember for a long time. Snorkelling, turtles, sting rays & coral snakes took a bit of getting used to but great little creatures. Price of food for kids was very expensive and cans of drinks were also over-priced. Breakfast buffets were good value, as were the lunches but dinner for Kids was excessive.

Had a relaxing time on this gorgeous island haven and my stress levels plummeted almost immediately. Although the overwater bungalows looked amazing, but I was happy with my (much cheaper) garden variety one. It was located only metres from the shore anyway, and was spacious and comfortable. It's more of a romantic place for couples or people wanting to chill out from the hustle and bustle. Strolling around the island at sunset is breathtaking. All staff were multilingual and extremely helpful. They even delivered some cookies to my door one night. Water sports are plentiful. Saw a huge turtle and a wide variety of fish species while snorkelling. I only booked three nights, but it wasn't enough. I'm sure I'll be back at some time in the future to get more of the tranquility that this island offers. Yes, the restaurant was expensive, but so laden is the buffet, only two meals are necessary. There is a bar fridge and a kettle, but no microwave. Didn't have the problem of bird noises others have complained about. Nor did the day-trippers overtake the island. Maybe these incidences only occur at certain times of year. Note: Garden bungalows do not have a separate bathtub as outlined on this site. I was a little disappointed, but apparently only the overwater bungalows have a bathtub. Mehr

Our check in was good and fast! And we had no problems checking out. The women on reception were lovely and friendly the men could be friendlier, but they were french. We went there to allow my husband to just chill out and do nothing!! It was perfect for that, as really there wasn't allot to do unless the weather was nice and you could do some snorkeling! […] We didn't mind the food, some nights were a bit ordinary, but over it all we enjoyed a buffet each night with a variety of duck, roast lamb and curry beef, a chief cooking venison, steak (very thin and cheap rib eye), chicken and fish on a BBQ. There was vegetable dishes to accompany the main dishes. Desert buffet with some nice rich deserts. A seafood dish on the buffet each night with mussels and prawn etc. The floor in the dinning room needs cleaning more often, as it was a bit greasy and slippery and dirty at times. The bar is often unattended still, but if the prices where better maybe they would get more business to keep him there. Water had to be asked for, we went back over to the mainland on the ferry to get water and wine and a few nibbles. There didn't seem to be much choice for room service just a few cold platter's. I found there to be some great staff on some nights at dinner on the ball, but there were also a few that could improve. I think overall from the other reports I've read it has improved quiet allot. We were pretty much laid back, going with the flow and we didn't have allot of complaints. Mehr

The island itself is breath-taking, however if you do not speak french you will find it difficult asking for the most simplist of things. Food is VERY expensive. It is linked to the Euro so you will be paying between $40-$90 per person per meal.

this was a great hotel and was well worth it's expensive price. make sure you find out when the buffet is on as the buffet at the restaurant on the island is a must (very expensive but worth every dollar)! the service of the hotel is fantastic and the small details given to ensure a great stay adds to it being a must experience. we stayed in the garden […] room - the room is ok, the bed was comfy. internet connects to the huge TV which was fantastic. it was hard to get a really good night sleep because of the birds which coo all night long but the whole experience of the service made up for the lack of sleep we got over the two nights. the staff at the reception are a huge help and really friendly - we didn't feel like we bothered them and they were always willing to help with a smile. i would definitely recommend staying here at least for a night if you are heading to New Caledonia - l'escape island resort is a must - don't pass through - stay a night and enjoy the whole experience!! we saw plenty of sea snakes but they are not aggressive - just watch your step and enjoy watching them swim through the water or slither on land - the place is so beautiful you look past the fact that your sharing your space with the sea snakes. again, this place is a must!! Personnel accueillant et très agréable emplacement de reve avec un lagon sympa, prix de la chambre abordable, seul regret le choix dans la nourriture et le prix prohibitif de celle ci sinon rien a dire. Un vrai moment de détente.

専用フェリーでわずか10分 静かな時間の流れる別世界に行けます。 昼間はデイトリッパーも多いので賑やかですが、フェリー最終便が出る夕方になると、それ以降はとっても静か。 クリスマスから年始にかけては唯一のレストランがビュッフェスタイルになるので、料理を選んでリーズナブルに済ませることはできません。ランチも、プールバーでホットドックを食べる以外はビュッフェ（しかも、高い）しかありません。 食事つきのほうがお得かも？
