Super Hotel mit neuer Einrichtung, super Lage und sehr großzügiges Zimmer. In Vergleich zu anderen Hotels ein exzellentes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis.

Das River Hotel ist absolut toll. Es liegt in einem freundlichen Quartier am Wacker Drive, die Zimmer sind modern, gut renoviert, toll in Schuss und sehr bequem. Badezimmer komfortabel und sauber - absolut empfehlenswert. Näheres zum Zimmer: 2 KingSize Betten, moderne Einrichtung (Flachbild-TV, Inernet-Anschluss [WiFi im ganzen Hotel gratis], Schreibtisch […] [schwenkbar, falls 2 Personen Essen möchten], Fernsteuerung für Klimaanlage. Badezimmer mit Duschkabine und separatem, starkem Haartrockner, moderne Armaturen, inkl. Toilette (neue Deckel, sie selbsttätig und langsam schliessen) und Schminkspiegel, beleuchtet. Obwohl am belebten Wackerdrive liegend wurden wir durch keine Verkehrsgeräusche gestört und auch gegen die Nachbarzimmer war es gut isoliert (oder wir hatten so ruhige Nachbarn). Die Lage: 150 Meter zur Busstation und zur Haltestelle des Hopp-on-Hopp-off Touristenbusses sowie 300 Meter zu den Schiffsstationen, um Rundfahrten auf dem Chicago River oder weiter raus zu machen. Restaurants direkt beim Haus und in der Nähe. U-Bahn-Station der Loop-Linien 2 Blocks entfernt - alles bestens. Das Personal unterstützt beim Ein- und Auschecke, obwohl alles automatisch möglich wäre. Internet-Stationen, inkl. Boarding-Pass-Drucker gratis vorhanden (WiFi im ganzen Haus gratis). Die Mitarbeiter vor dem Haus sind total freundlich unt informieren bez. Sehenswürdigkeiten, holen Taxis oder plaudern auch einfach so mit den Leuten. Besonders schön: Sie haben auch sehr guten und freundlichen Umgang mit den anderen Angestellten der angrenzenden Parkhäuser oder Hotels, was m.E. immer ein gutes Zeichen ist. Das ist ein Hotel, das sich bezüglich Preis-Leistung in keinster Art verstecken muss und wir werden jederzeit gerne dorthin zurückkehren. Mehr

Das Hotel ist sehr gut gelegen um die Sehenswürdigkeiten auch zu Fuss zu erkunden. Parkgarge ist auch in unmittelbarer Nähe.

Gute Lage, winzige aber saubere Zimmer.

We stayed at the River Hotel for Super Bowl weekend. The room was very clean and well kept, the staff was very nice and friendly, and the in hotel restaurant was awesome. They had Eugene on tap which was they actually ran out of at Revolution Brewing. It was in an excellent location. We walked (albeit it was a long walk) to Millenium Park, the Bean, […] and Willis/Sears Tower. The only issue I had was the size of the room I booked, but that's pretty standard issue as most hotels go. Next time I go back to Chicago, I will definitely be staying at the River Hotel. Great location, rooms, cleaniness. Staff was ok helped with check in but the parking situtation was horrible. They check your parking garage ticket to ensure you get discounted rate but they didnt. I had double checked on exit that I would get the lower rate, got to my car, get got charged full 48hr rate, I called them they told me to return to the […] hotel to get ticket validated which I did. I had to go back to the hotel, they were unable to assist me. The reception guy said speak to the parking garage attendant-I explained that were was done, the garage was a ghost town. He would not help me. It took me 90mins to check out,get my car, return to the hotel, return back to car (which is not easy as Sundays everywhere is closed to getting to garages) and still not get discounted rate. Mehr

I've probably stayed in at least a dozen hotels in the Loop, and this hotel was the best in terms of location, service and pricing. Would recommend it to anyone.

Nice hotel in center. Staff was frendly. according to the price level, they should have breakfast included. Nice litle Pizeria/Bar in the lobby.

The price wasn't bad for Chicago and was one of the nicer hotels I've stayed at there.

This hotel is a diamond in the rough. It is perfectly located to where you can walk to the shops on Michigan Avenue or State Street. Our stay was very pleasant, relaxing and enjoyable. I've already recommended the hotel to my friends - we had a couple friend who ended-up booking a room same night just because we were raving about it!

I stayed here NYE. The price and location were right for a New Year's celebration. I would definitely stay again.

The River Hotel on Wacker Drive in Chicago has very well appointed rooms, free Internet service, and a business center with a free computer and printer.

A welcome alternative to the large hotels. Purified cold water available on each floor is a nice touch. While the room was in the corner and thus odd shaped, it had windows on two sides and was quite comfortable. Pizza restaurant next door was very good too.

The location of the hotel is perfect for people who want to see downtown Chicago and Millennium Park. It has good rates (On December 2011) and the staff is very nice. They give you unlimited complimentary water which is cool. BUT it will cost you a very small room (you can't open the bathroom door and the room door at the same time), uncomfortable pillows […] and rough- not too great towels. The TV in the room was smaller than the average computer screen and there was no option to purchase movies or anything else. Parking is a mess over there, there are two parking options and if you're not planning to take the car out that night, don't use the valet service- it will save you $13 (you do have everything around there, that's the reason you chose that hotel). It's good for a short stay, for business people or over night, I would take my family there. Mehr

Room was nice, TV was small, no fan in the bathroom, and the rooms bathroom door was missing the handle. I liked the all around set up of the room with a kitchen and desk. What made my stay negative was that my spouse and I had to take cold showers before we left for our event and maintenance came to fix it but never returned. Great hotel for the price. We would stay there again in a heartbeat!

We chose this hotel due to it's convenient location to The Magnificent Mile, The Loop and Museums and because the price was very reasonable. We did upgrade after being shown the tiny room we had originally booked. The upgraded room was large and included a sitting area and kitchenette. It was well worth the extra cost. Even with the upgrade the value […] was good and less than what we usually pay in Chicago. We visit once or twice a year. The staff was pleasant and the room was clean and mostly comfortable. Our one knock on this hotel was the shower. The adjustable shower head kept slipping down and, on the first two days, the water pressure and temperature was low. We managed with the shower head and, since my wife did not seem to notice the lukewarm water, we did not complain. The pressure was better and the water was nice and hot on our last morning there. The room was pretty small but it was very clean and nice. Everything looked very new and modern. We only stayed one night so it didn't matter too much how large the room was but if I was staying for a few days I would feel claustrophobic. Check in and out was easy. For self parking you had to drive to the next block. It is in a good location so finding […] a cab was pretty easy. Mehr

The room was small by American standards, although no smaller than comparable rooms I have stayed in throughout Europe and Asia. Aside from that it was clean, modern, quiet and convenient. Overall, a very pleasant stay for a very good price.

We enjoyed an excellent room with a view of the river and downtown Chicago. Everything is within walking distance that we wanted to check out including Navy Pier and Ditka's Restaurant. It is also 5 minutes from Soldier Field, which was our reason for coming in the first place (GO BEARS!). We stayed the night of the Festival of Lights on the Magnificent […] Mile (which we didnt even know about). Talk about an added bonus. Room size was not even a factor. I would classify the room size as quaint and cozy, not small at all. Other reviews had me worried, although we did stay in the bigger of the two rooms offered at The River. Was actually suprised when we walked in, the room being bigger than expected. As for hotel services, everyone we encounted was courteous. We are self-sufficient so we dont use room service or wake up calls or need pampering, so I can't comment on those types of things. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would certainly not hesitate to stay again. Mehr

Great stay, my second time staying at River Hotel, even though I eventually switched rooms to the Club Quarters, they allowed me to switch to a room with a microwave and refrigerator, it was great and had a much better view, just isn't as updated as River Hotel, they are in the same bldg, River Hotel are the lower level rooms, and club quarters are […] up top. Near Mich Ave. and State Street, and the river, you can hop in a cab, bus, or train and go anywhere. Mehr

We spent a long weekend in the city and found the accomodations at the River Hotel to be exceptional. The location was convenient to shopping, dining, mass transit, parks etc.

We loved everything about our stay. Everyone was friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The location is close to the train station and Michigan Ave. Tables and heaters were set up outside in the evening so we enjoyed dinner and drinks outside in November!

Rooms are European in size but to be expected for such a terrific location and at the provided rates. Rooms appear to have been redesigned recently and were comfortable, clean, and fashionable. Recommended for those who don't plan on spending much time in their room yet want to come back at night to a nicer room.

The hotel is located right by the chicago river. The Trump Tower is directly across the river from the hotel. Shopping and The Magnificent Mile is just around the corner. They will securely hold your bags if you still feel the need to walk around after you check out. Calamari is THE BEST at the restaurant located at the entrance of the hotel. The room I booked turned out to be double booked. However the hotel had seen that before I arrived and booked me a second room free of charge. No hassle. Rooms are clean and nice. I passed the hotel once when looking for it even when using GPS. They need a big sign because its easy to miss. Overall a good hotel and great location.

Beware of this place! The room was small but adequate. There are better choices at lower rates in the same (nice) neighborhood. This place is a weird combination of hotel rooms and apartments in one building. You can do better for less. I had meetings all morning on the Friday I was checking out and my last meeting ran over, so I was unable to check […] out until 1pm (one hour past the posted noon checkout time). They "automatically" added 33% of the cost of one night's stay and were completely dogmatic about it. The desk clerk said it was out of her control. Upon questioning, she then she told me the hotel was fully booked on Friday night (which was very clearly not the case as there were large signs at the front desk saying "Upgrades available tonight for $xx"). I asked to speak to a manager and of course there was no manager on duty and she said had no authority to act. No manager on duty in the middle of the day with a hotel that's telling me they are fully booked? Also, you can find a place with room service with breakfast ealier than 8am every day of the week, and get sensible, straight talking staff as well. Trust me, there are lots of better choices for your dollar. Mehr

This hotel was a great value downtown Chicago. Right on the River a block from Michigan Ave. The rooms were a little small but overall we had a great time. They were very clean.
