die anbindung mit den öffentlichen verkehrsmitteln zur innenstadt ist super. das frühstück sehr dürftig, aber daß es 24/7 kaffe und tee umsonst gibt, haben wir oft gern genutzt. der preis schlägt alles! dashotel hat seine besten zeiten schon hinter sich. aber für den preis ist es top.

Es ist wirklich so schön, wie sie beschreiben. Die grosszügige und einladende Lobby in der ersten Etage diente u.a. dem Weinempfang aller an diesem Tag anreisenden Gäste. Allerdings scheint die Zeit auf 17 bis 18 Uhr begrenzt zu sein. Eher als Ausnahme bekam ich später noch einen Gutschein für die Bar, die nicht ganz so nett ist, wie die Lobby. Beim Frühstück im benachbarten Bistro muss man wissen, was man wählt, um nicht vom Amerikanischen Geschmack überrascht zu werden.

Zu unserer Ueberraschung war alles viel kleiner, als es in den Bildern erscheint. Der Fotograf hat einen super Job gemacht. Dennoch ist das Hotel eine sehr gute Wahl. Allerdings hatten wir eine Suite. Wir haben das Zimmer-Service-Fruehstueck nie genutzt, da es genug guenstige und gute Alternativen in der unmittelbaren Umgebung gibt.

I chose the River Hotel because it had the lowest rate and is near the magnificent mile. Sure, the room was a bit small, but well designed and clean. Underground parking was just a block away and the hotel validates a portion of the parking costs (24 bucks/day). The onsite Italian restaurant was nice. The location for the River Hotel is perfect. However, we found the rooms to be loud, we could hear every word of our neighbors conversations. The bathroom shower had virtually no water pressure. "Overlooking the river!"
Great hotel, great location. Problem - the cost of parking...OUCH! Due to the Wacher situation in Chicago, I drove around till I was frazzeled. So the valet parking sounding great. two nights $70. Wish I had a park and ride situation so I could just pay for the $6 fun pass to use the CTA all day. Everything is a 4 block walk from the hotel.

We went for a night on a romantic weekend. Our room was small but comfortable. It might be too small for a longer stay. You cannot beat the location or the price. One block from Michigan Avenue and only three blocks to Millennium Park. Our room also had a great view of the River.

"Great hotel for conference attendees"
The River Hotel is just down the street from the Hyatt Regency that hosts many conferences. I stayed in the Hyatt one night because I had a roommate and we could share the cost. Then for two nights I switched to the River Hotel, rooming alone. It was half the cost and just as nice. I really liked my corner room that looked over the Chicago river. It […] was clean and quiet - a lovely bathroom with a tile shower. Small, but usable fitness center. My cycling machine's computer program didn't work, but I believe no one had told the management about that. If you want a clean, simple, up-to-date, aesthetically pleasing room that is very reasonably priced, I recommend the River Hotel. Mehr

The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The location was perfect walking distance to a number of local establishments including the House of Blues (our destination). The hotel was WONDEFUL!!!!!!!! MODERN AND BEAUTIFUL VIEW. Upset i had to pay for an up graded room when i already booked my hotel and paid for it in advance. When i booked my room it said i would have a queen bed and pull out. When i got there i had to pay extra for it.

We stayed at the River Hotel for Super Bowl weekend. The room was very clean and well kept, the staff was very nice and friendly, and the in hotel restaurant was awesome. They had Eugene on tap which was they actually ran out of at Revolution Brewing. It was in an excellent location. We walked (albeit it was a long walk) to Millenium Park, the Bean, […] and Willis/Sears Tower. The only issue I had was the size of the room I booked, but that's pretty standard issue as most hotels go. Next time I go back to Chicago, I will definitely be staying at the River Hotel. "bad staff"
Great location, rooms, cleaniness. Staff was ok helped with check in but the parking situtation was horrible. They check your parking garage ticket to ensure you get discounted rate but they didnt. I had double checked on exit that I would get the lower rate, got to my car, get got charged full 48hr rate, I called them they told me to return to the […] hotel to get ticket validated which I did. I had to go back to the hotel, they were unable to assist me. The reception guy said speak to the parking garage attendant-I explained that were was done, the garage was a ghost town. He would not help me. It took me 90mins to check out,get my car, return to the hotel, return back to car (which is not easy as Sundays everywhere is closed to getting to garages) and still not get discounted rate. Mehr

"Great Bargain / Great Location"
I've probably stayed in at least a dozen hotels in the Loop, and this hotel was the best in terms of location, service and pricing. Would recommend it to anyone.

The price wasn't bad for Chicago and was one of the nicer hotels I've stayed at there.
This hotel is a diamond in the rough. It is perfectly located to where you can walk to the shops on Michigan Avenue or State Street. Our stay was very pleasant, relaxing and enjoyable. I've already recommended the hotel to my friends - we had a couple friend who ended-up booking a room same night just because we were raving about it!

"River Hotel is convenient and well appointed"
The River Hotel on Wacker Drive in Chicago has very well appointed rooms, free Internet service, and a business center with a free computer and printer.
"The River Hotel: A Small Boutique Inn"
A welcome alternative to the large hotels. Purified cold water available on each floor is a nice touch. While the room was in the corner and thus odd shaped, it had windows on two sides and was quite comfortable. Pizza restaurant next door was very good too.

"You pay a price for a good location"
The location of the hotel is perfect for people who want to see downtown Chicago and Millennium Park. It has good rates (On December 2011) and the staff is very nice. They give you unlimited complimentary water which is cool. BUT it will cost you a very small room (you can't open the bathroom door and the room door at the same time), uncomfortable pillows […] and rough- not too great towels. The TV in the room was smaller than the average computer screen and there was no option to purchase movies or anything else. Parking is a mess over there, there are two parking options and if you're not planning to take the car out that night, don't use the valet service- it will save you $13 (you do have everything around there, that's the reason you chose that hotel). It's good for a short stay, for business people or over night, I would take my family there. Mehr

Room was nice, TV was small, no fan in the bathroom, and the rooms bathroom door was missing the handle. I liked the all around set up of the room with a kitchen and desk. What made my stay negative was that my spouse and I had to take cold showers before we left for our event and maintenance came to fix it but never returned. We chose this hotel due to it's convenient location to The Magnificent Mile, The Loop and Museums and because the price was very reasonable. We did upgrade after being shown the tiny room we had originally booked. The upgraded room was large and included a sitting area and kitchenette. It was well worth the extra cost. Even with the upgrade the value […] was good and less than what we usually pay in Chicago. We visit once or twice a year. The staff was pleasant and the room was clean and mostly comfortable. Our one knock on this hotel was the shower. The adjustable shower head kept slipping down and, on the first two days, the water pressure and temperature was low. We managed with the shower head and, since my wife did not seem to notice the lukewarm water, we did not complain. The pressure was better and the water was nice and hot on our last morning there. "River Hotel in Chicago is nice and clean"
The room was pretty small but it was very clean and nice. Everything looked very new and modern. We only stayed one night so it didn't matter too much how large the room was but if I was staying for a few days I would feel claustrophobic. Check in and out was easy. "small rooms - nice stay"
The room was small by American standards, although no smaller than comparable rooms I have stayed in throughout Europe and Asia. Aside from that it was clean, modern, quiet and convenient. Overall, a very pleasant stay for a very good price.
"The River Hotel - Chicago"
We enjoyed an excellent room with a view of the river and downtown Chicago. Everything is within walking distance that we wanted to check out including Navy Pier and Ditka's Restaurant. It is also 5 minutes from Soldier Field, which was our reason for coming in the first place (GO BEARS!). We stayed the night of the Festival of Lights on the Magnificent […] Mile (which we didnt even know about). Talk about an added bonus. Room size was not even a factor. I would classify the room size as quaint and cozy, not small at all. Other reviews had me worried, although we did stay in the bigger of the two rooms offered at The River. Was actually suprised when we walked in, the room being bigger than expected. As for hotel services, everyone we encounted was courteous. We are self-sufficient so we dont use room service or wake up calls or need pampering, so I can't comment on those types of things. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would certainly not hesitate to stay again. Mehr

"My place to stay when in Cicago"
Great stay, my second time staying at River Hotel, even though I eventually switched rooms to the Club Quarters, they allowed me to switch to a room with a microwave and refrigerator, it was great and had a much better view, just isn't as updated as River Hotel, they are in the same bldg, River Hotel are the lower level rooms, and club quarters are […] up top. Near Mich Ave. and State Street, and the river, you can hop in a cab, bus, or train and go anywhere. Mehr
