Howard Johnson Inn Augusta/Fort Gordon - Augusta

My family and I were in Augusta, GA for the wedding of my nephew. The Howard Johnson facility was in an ideal location.......close to shopping centers and ironically, the church where the wedding ceremony was held within 15-minutes too.

I was nervous about bookinh this hotel after reading some of the reviews but I was rather please with this hotel. The front desk had everything ready for a speedy check-in. The room was clean and fresh despite being a smoking room. Although I must admit that the walls are thin. I could hear the Tv in the next room all night. We stayed for a week. Hotel was clean and close to Fort Gordon. Pool is across parking lot but clean. Friendly Hotel Staff who were very accomodating. Great price for what was given. Would stay their again.

The hotel was good for what i paid.

The room was clean, the location was okay near to several restaurants. The only complain I have is that the television kept going out at night all I could see was static, the front desk person came in and fixed it but after several hours it went out again. Also, I was giving a room with bathroom for a handicap person, the bathroom setting was weird […] because it was a stand up shower with a seat and two drains, one inside the bathroom and the other right in the middle of the floor close to the sink. When I took a shower the water ran out and the entire bathroom floor was wet. Mehr

The front desk clerk never greeted me. The room chair had tears. One chair was broken. The stopper in tub didn't work. A roach was on wall. I checked out early the next morning.

Convenient location, quiet, clean, courteous and prfoessional service. The laundry and fitness room are an example of the convenience offered by HJ.

The rooms themselves were great. Very comfortable and clean with ample room. My only two gripes are that the hotel sits off the road a little ways and there isn't very clear/noticable signage to let you know exactly where it is. We passed it up and had to turn back around to get to it. My other gripe was the front desk service. There was a young girl […] working who obviously did not want to be there. She was not very personable at all and seemed to have an attitude with everything she did. When we checked out in the morning, the same girl was working, and she was walking around the parking lot talking on her cell phone. We stood at the front counter for 15 min waiting for her to come back inside, and when she did, she was even less helpful than before. satisfactory overall...pros: microwave, refrigerator, excellent TV channel selection, free wi-fi, pretty good breakfast...very convenient! CONS: not the cleanest place, housekeeping is slow (but nice), they insisted on cleaning our carpets one afternoon and left our carpet damp for the rest of the evening (we could barely walk around/ was gross) but […] the most bothersome was the SUPER THIN WALLS. My boyfriend and I felt like we were in our neighbors' conversations. and one room had the alarm clock ready to go off every single morning at 6:30am. I was on vacation and did not want to wake up that early. (it also wouldn't turn off for another hour or so OR until I could sleep through it...so i assume it was an alarm clock in a room that had no visitors) but other than that, enjoy. Mehr

I am generally very critic of hotels; but this time, I will have to pass. I have no complaint at all. The manager seemed to be very attentive to his guests' concerns and his employees were right on hand.

Good value. Low price. Good location. Not quiet (some hotels now use very quiet lightweight concrete for this reason). Coffee maker had sludge in water tank and a frayed cord with copper wire showing. Clerk could not replace it, nor did she want to take it out of service. TV remote did not work. Good location for Augusta National Golf Course, just off the highway. Approx 5 mins drive from restaurants and shops.

The room was nice. The bathroom was clean. The bed was ultra comfortable and I got a great night's sleep. I loved the flat screen TV and all the amenities. I will definitely be staying here the next time I am in Augusta.

Great location 10 min. from the job and the base, awesome eatery in walking distance, will stay there when I return later next month.

Customer Service Reasonable Prices Clean and Comfortable

All i can say is things were very pleasant , beautiful 32" flatscreen tv,s in every room , nice channel line- up , and a very appetizing and hot breakfast selection . Many amenities in the room ( coffee, hair dryer , iron and board , shampoo , and great WiFi and coffeee served 24 hrs a day . When i return to the area , i will defiantly stay again !

Worker very nice! Ower goes out of his way if you tell him of any problems. Continental Breakfast is Incredible! Eggs, sausage, donuts, cereal, coffee, danish, toast, hot tea, bagles..... Only complaint is housekeeping....They seem to be LAZY!!!! Sometimes my bed is made some times it is not, even if the rest of my room is done. They have a policy that […] if anything is on they bed they not make it but I did not ever leave anything on the bed and it still did not get made. Many of the times they either ran out of trash can liners or forgot to put them in cause they would empty my garbage but not put new liners in the cans. One of the days I did not get fresh towels. They took my dirty towels but only left me with 2 hand towels and 3 wash cloths!!!! Did they run out!!!!! I did not even realize it until I got out of the shower so I was quite irritated drying off with a hand towel and wash cloth! My hair is VERY LONG! Mehr

I thought initially that this hotel was a steal with all of the things they offer. Several amenities that suited me well...breakfast, free paper, laundry service, office and printer, and overall it was clean and decent and in a safe location. And the staff are very friendly and accommodating...I needed a later checkout time, and they happily obliged […] to let me stay later at no charge. However....the walls are thin, and the guest next to me was very inconsiderate as she blasted her music through the tv, up in to the late night. After working a night shift, I couldn't sleep. So I asked for something to be done about it, and they moved me to a new room. Supposedly an upgrade b/c it had a hot tub, but it was supposed to be a non smoking room, yet reeked of smoke smell. So, if you stay here....it's a toss up of who your neighbors are and what kind of decency the room is in. I would have recommended it, had it not been for these things... Mehr

Very nice room, large fairly comfortable bed, pretty good cable selection (but there was no progam guide handy), freezer did not keep ice cream solid but mini fridge was adequate as was the microwave. Very good breakfast. Only bad review I have to say is the bath tub did not drain during showers. I would stay here again and recommend it ti anyone.

Staff and owner very nice. Treat you like you live there! All requests were met. Carpet was dirty but was cleaned upon my request. I wish they could clean a little closer to the walls with their cleaning equipment, but it just doesn't make it. There is a buildup of dust in the corners and edges of the room. Shower curtain had mold but was changed on […] my request. Did have 2 bugs, but again, this is not unexpected because bugs are everywhere and could have been brought in by other guests. Staff took this seriously and took care of the issue. I have reserved this hotel again several more times because the staff went out of their way to make sure I was happy even with the events I described. They really tried to make everything right. I trust the staff and they will accomodate me in any way they can. Being a travel nurse, price and happiness means a lot. Microwave and fridge/freezer a BONUS!!! Beds are comfy! Large desk for workspace! 32" flat screen TV w/ TONS of channels!!!!!!!! I could not believe the amount of channels they had for no extra cost at this hotel!!!!! It was incredible!!!!! The Howard Johnson Fort Gordon-Augusta is not a bad deal for the price. The hotel is conveniently located and is in decent shape. My room had a bit of an unpleasant odor, so I went to the local grocery store and bought a can of Febreze to take care of the problem. Otherwise, the breakfast was not bad, featuring eggs, sausage, some fresh fruit, baked […] goods, cereals and yogurt. The fitness facility has four cardio machines, but one was out of order. The staff was pleasant. If you're on a budget and you won't be staying too long, this is not a bad option. Mehr

1st room reeked of smoke and I didn't cross the thresh hold. 2nd room had broken furniture w/no fronts on the dresser drawers and mold in the shower. 3rd room had roaches crawling, missing pillow case, and hair in the bed sheets. Chair cushion was dirty so I turned it over and it was worse. Asked to check out and a upgrade was offered for the property […] next door to a 2 room sweet. This one had missing lightbulb in 2 areas. Will not go back. It's convient to Ft Gordon, interstate,&reaturants. Total length of my trip was 5 nights. Hot Breakfast offered a variety at both hotels. Mehr

The hotel was comfortable, the walls are thin though, but overall no problems

Did not have a pleasant experience when checking in to this hotel. Surrounding area was questionable. There was a lot of foot traffic through the parking lot, and people were loitering outside of the hotel entrance. I did not feel comfortable leaving my car in the parking lot overnoght. Inside of the hotel was musty and the hallway and room smelled […] of cigarette smoke, even though it was designated as a non-somking room. Front desk manager was not receptive to my desire to check out and was very reluctant to take back my room key. Mehr

We had previously stayed at this hotel and had a pleasant experience. Therefore, we booked it again and was not disappointed. They had a great breakfast, the staff was friendly, and the room was clean (bed very comfortable).

for the price it was not bad but the rooms do need a different type of air fresherner they were not smelling fresh/the location was great in regards to Fort Gordon We were told the hotel was fairly new just having been built in March but it was remodeled not a new hotel.

Very disappointed and I would not recommend. Dirty towels were not removed after first night and coffee and cups were not replenished. Breakfast was mediocre at best. Noise level in hallway was untollerable until after 2:00 AM. Am returning to Augusta tomorrow and will stay in a different hotel.

Breakfast--minimal. Rooms adequate. Rough- looking people. My car was broken into but little was missing (very odd). I would not stay here again,

Awesome breakfast at this price point. Helpful staff! Down pillows and great mattress were wonderful.

Grea hotel! Te staff was very helpful and the rooms where above standard. Would highly refer to otheer guests.

Clean, safe hotel. The walls are thin, but you have lots of TV channels to cover the noise.

Basic, Clean, no frills, it is what you imagine a short stay Motel to be. It does the job satisfactorily for overnight rest.

This hotel was excellent. The price was perfect, the hotel was clean and smelled great, the room was comfortable, and was conveniently located near Ft. Gordon. The staff were polite, and they were really great about setting up breakfast early. The restaurant just in front of the hotel was great and offered discounts for hotel guests. It was within walking […] distance of several restaurants and the highway is close by. Other reviews mentioned thin walls, but I didn't have an issue at all with outside noise.
