good location, convenience, clean, comfortable, but servicing just so so

The hotel is located at a good location. It is very convenient because there are lots of shops around the hotel. The room's shower and bath tub badly need update. TV in the bedroom wasn't working too. Very slow internet connection

Very good service and comfortable though a bit old. Along Nanjing Road Pedestrain Mall where shopping, banking facilities and food are conveniently available. Near tube and bus station including double decker tourist bus. Thouroughly enjoyed our stay.

Overall, it was a good hotel to stay, especially with it great location, walking distance to the Bund, and right by the street of the famous local food retail shops. The best thing is the pillow that is made of rice. I had the best sleep there, and wish I could buy and bring back for my house. Excellent location with plenty of food choices nearby. Don't forget to turn in to the small lanes off Nanjing Rd (such as Guizhou Rd) for cheap and yummy local food. Frankly, I was unhappy with the sudden room change whice differed from I booked and pre-paid. It was supposed to be a king-sized bed but I stayed at twin beds room. But, it's pretty nice hotel basically.

I stayed at this hotel on the last three days of 2011. The hotel is conveniently located with one of its entrance facing the main pedestrians street (Nanking East Rd). Food and shopping were never an issue during my stay. Hotel staff at the counter were helpful including the concierge. The only grudge I had, if any, is the difficulty for taxi to locate […] the entrance to the hotel. Majesty Plaza is located right next to Nanjing Rd pedestrian mall and is 1 block away from the park which is located next to the Shanghai Museum, Art Museum and Concert Hall(?), where we took the opportunity to see a local opera while we were in Shanghai and thoroughly enjoyed it, however getting a taxi back to the hotel at that time of night was virtually […] impossible. Easy to walk back if you don't have a sore knee and back though like we did. Very nicely furnished hotel, we had an executive room so checked in on the 25th floor. We found the staff on the 25th floor always very helpful and attentive but the front desk staff on the ground floor could do with some extra training or perhaps customer service initiative. We found you were often left standing there or they served other guests who 'muscled' there way in first (more than once) even though they knew you had been first and waiting a long time in the queue. One other warning, if you use the computers on the 25th floor like I did, be aware that your email etc may be compromised. I have been to China several times and in all the hotels I have stayed in have used the computers and never had a problem with such an issue. I think the hotel needs to maintain more rigorous computer and internet security for the benefit of their guests as I was not impressed when I found my email had been compromised while using the facilities at the Majesty Plaza Hotel. Other than these issues, we really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We had previously stayed a few blocks down the same street at another hotel but prefer the Majesty Plaza. Directly across the street was a 7-11 type store which was so handy to buy water, snacks etc. About one block away was an excellent foot massage centre and on the other side of that block a great hair/beauty salon in which my mother got the best cut and colour she said she has had in about 20yrs, she was extremely impressed with their ability to cut naturally curly hair. The location is great and value for money. Hotel do not provide much choice of good food.

Excellent location on Nanjing Road close to everything. Hotel staff was courteous and helpful with any questions we had. Would definitely recommend.

Hello, am from India and travelled alone to shanghai in oct. well, booked the hotel for the first time via hotels.com and when i reached the hotel, everything was perfect, they had my bookings confirmed and everything according to the request. i thank hotels.com for the excellent travel booking. now coming to majesty plaza, i shall say that hotel is […] in the best location of shanghai. its all shopping, food and best surroundings. subway, costa coffee, jamaica blues, dumkin donuts all on the ground floor and macdonalds and pizza hut just opposite. so no worries of food. only thing i disliked about the hotel is that the staff doesnt smile at all. they speak behind your backs, though one cant understand what they speak but definitely can make out they are speaking something about you and then laughing at you. only complain i have is that the room they gave me was not good, means not at a good floor and it was the smallest of the rooms they had in the hotel. in short it was not convinient at all, requested to change but they would never do it even though many rooms were vacant. well, i didnt bother much as was whole day out, came only to sleep in the night. rest everything was fine, safe and decent. The selling point of Majesty Plaza Shanghai is its location, right next to Nanjing East Road. Other than that, it is just a tired 4 star hotel

Best point about this hotel is its location. While the main door opens on Jiujiang Road, there is another entrance/exit to Nanjing Road. Hence, everything you need is there from food, shopping, entertainment (massages, KTV etc). The service is quite good as well but I notice that the quality of the food has dropped from a year ago. It's walking distance to the Bund and central to most other tourist attractions within Shanghai. For uptown shopping/food options, there is Raffles City next to the hotel that has all the international brands that you can find anywhere in the world. Not recommended. Check in around 9:30PM to hotel and found most restaurants in the area closed. Hotel lobby was like an OVEN!! Like the big swimming pool though. Too many hustlers outside hotel selling all sort of fake items. Not very safe.

Not recommended. Bedsheet/Duvet cover was not changed. Called twice to get it changed. Hotel staff not very friendly and helpful at all. Big Mooncake shop at the back entrance and lots of salesmen hustling you to buy moon cakes!! Lots of Hustlers pushing fake watches & bags outside hotel. General surrounding of the hotel not very safe.

comfortable hotel,great location for shopping,sightseeing double decker bus just around the corner BUT hotel does not have lobby coffee shop with light meals, breakfast restaurant (2nd floor)food and coffee always only just warm,same with room service, staff not much help had to eat mostly outside---give it a miss.

Great hotel smack in the middle of all the shopping in Shanghai. The rooms, facilities and service are value for the room rates booked via Hotel.com. Signage of entrance to hotel from Nanjing Road needs improvement, not clear.

Only good thing about this hotel is it's very convenient location and elegant lobby.

When you travel in the Far East especially China there are hotels who cater the their population. In this case Chinese. The amount of English spoken is very limited. They answer to Chinese at counters before they answer others. TV station are limited. Laundry is incredibly expensive. Location was great.

This hotel is in a good location, very near to People's Square station which has several MRT Lines. Room is very spacious and well-kept. Front Desk staff are friendly and polite, they speak English pretty well. Concierge service is, however, more disappointing. For a 4* hotel there are certain expectations which a customer takes as standard. I would say this hotel did not meet them. Upon arrival at the hotel, the front desk staff were uninterested in serving us and when they did, they did so rudely. We had booked a double room for 3 people meaning we would require an additional bed. In the others hotels that […] we stayed in throughout China we did not have any problems with this and the additional bed was included within the price. However, the Majesty Plaza would not provide the additional bed unless we paid extra. On top of this they did not provide additional toiletries, towels extra to accommodate 3 people. Also the doorman at the entrance of the hotel was also rude and again very uninterested in helping. Overall the staff behaviour at this hotel was simply unacceptable. As for the room, it was very dark inside and a little depressing. However, it was kept clean and everything else was in working order. Our room did not come with breakfast which was fine. But when we inquired whether there was any upgrade available to include breakfast, the staff rudely responded with a 'no' without thinking about it. This is the first 4* hotel I have come across which does not offer deals which include breakfast. I would say the only thing good about this hotel is its location. Sited directly on Nanjing road there are plenty of shops and restaurants within a few minutes of walking, therefore very convenient. Only problem was that we had a leak in the ceiling. It was reported and repaired. However, two nights later the problem happened again. We think it was the air conditioner unit as there was a small amount of mold on the barthroom ceiling. Other than that the hotel was fine great location right on Nanjing Rd.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and found it to be mediocre at best. The hotel lobby and restaurants are spectacular but the rooms are something to be desired. The rooms are in need of renovation to bring them out of the 90's. When we got there they had run out of our reserved room type and we got upgraded to a suite. The suite was roomy but had […] old worn carpets, CRT TV, and well used furniture. The hotel's breakfast buffet was not good as well. We decided to have breakfast at cafes around the hotel. The location is great...right on Nanjing road which is a mile long shopping street. People's Square is also a couple of minutes walking distance away. The Majestic Hotel is an old hotel. However if you’re looking to shop or visit the Bund or peoples park its a great location. Very close to the subway station too.

I was pleasantly surprised with this property. The hotel has an opulant expansive deco lobby with one entrance leading directly onto Nanjiang Road, the wide pedestrian street. The hotel is located steps from shops, food options, People's Plaza Park, museums and other attractions. The lobby and public spaces are inviting. The room on the 20th floor […] is spacious, comfortatbly furnished and quiet with a view of the city (due to energy conservation, the skyline lights go out at 10:30pm). The dark wood and the furnishings should be updated, and when it is, the rates will be higher. The young staff were all very friendly and helpful focusing on service and comfort. My colleague and I stayed at the Majesty for 4 days on a recent trip to Shanghai for business. Great location if you want to be close to People Square and Nanjing Road where there is a lot of shopping and general activity. The hotel was clean, great entrance and superb service. We stayed in the executive suites on the 24th floor which were very nice […] and great setup for doing work in room. Gym and sauna were top notch as well. Kan verkligen rekomendera detta hotell till den som önskar ett lyxigt boende till ett rimligt pris. Engelsktalig och hjälpsam personal - och ett hotell som ligger på ett perfekt läge i Shanghai och nära till The Bund! Gym, pool och sauna - allt väldigt fräscht och tilltalande. Ger allt som allt en 4 av 5!

人民公園のすぐそば。繁華街のなかにあり、抜群の立地にあり便利。ただしホテルそのものは老朽化して、サービス、部屋の快適さは普通レベル。夜、入口に、マッサージの客引きの男性がいたので、あまりホテルのマネジメントレベルは高くないような雰囲気。この立地で、この価格であれば、コストパーフォマンスはいいので、短期の滞在ではそれなりの意義があるが、それ以上ではない。

일단 인민광장역과 매우 가깝고, 번화가 한복판에 있다는 점에서 위치가 아주 좋아요. 호텔도 꽤나 크고,세련된 분위기입니다. 전 슈페리어 더블룸에서 묵었는데 방 넓이나 분위기는 좋습니다. 다만 조명이 너무 어두워서 오전에 조금 답답했구요~ 욕실에 욕조도 구비되어 있고,깔끔합니다만, 샤워기가 고정되있어서 여성으로선 좀 불편함이 있었어요. 침구는 아늑하고, 포근해서 괜찮았고, 냉난방도 잘 되더라구요. 물론 조금의 불편함은 있었지만 이정도는 사람에 따라 느끼고 못느끼고의 차이정도구요~ 위치나, 분위기나, 청결도 정말 좋았어요 다음에 또 묵고싶을정도네요^^

Ett bra hotell precis mitt i smeten i Shanghai. Hotellet ligger precis bredvid Nanjing lu som är en av dom stora shoppinggatorna i Shanghai. Det ligger också nära folkets torg "peoples square" som räknas som centrum av Shanghai där flera t-banelinjer skärs. Hotellet är bra men jag skulle inte tro helt på deras hemsida om ett femstjärnigt hotell men […] fyra kommer dom upp i. Rent och snyggt och dom kan hygglig engelska i receptionen. Tänk på att väldigt få kineser talar engelska så om du skall ta en taxi till hotellet så se till att antingen ha med en mobil så du kan ringa hotellet och be dom berätta för taxi chauffören vart han/hon skall eller att du har adressen skriven på kinesiska. 10월 21~부터 24일까지 동생이랑 같이 묵고 왔는데요~ 바로 옆에 르메르디앙이 있습니다. 건물1층에는 콜드스톤, 서브웨이, 그밖의 커피숍등이 있고, 바로앞에는 정말 난징동루 보행가라서 정말 여행도중에 피곤하면 집에와서 쉬기도하고 너무 좋았습니다. 아침식사도 모 그냥 다른 여느 호텔에 비해 뒤지는것은 아닌것같구요~ 저처럼 짧은 여행을 다녀오셔야 하는 분이라면 최강의 호텔입니다. 가격대비해서 정말 완젼 만족했구요~ 신천지까지 16~20위안 밖에 안됩니다! 비오는날 우산도 빌려주시고 수영장, 헬스장도 사람없고 깨끗해서 아침마다 이용했네요! 특히나 걸어서 산책삼아 위에탄 야경보기에 딱입니다!!!

Et bra hotell dersom man trenger et sentralt sted på forretningsreisen. Har bra tilbud og tilrettelegger når det trengs. Prisnivå er gunstig. Beliggenhet gunstig både for møter rundt omkring og for fritiden.
