Casa Zuniga - Guanajuato

Sehr schönes B&B oberhalb der Stadt, große komfortable Zimmer, tolles und familiäres Frühstück. Achtung, das Haus liegt nicht an einer Strasse sondern an einem Treppenweg. Man kann es entweder mit der Seilbahn erreichen, dann sind es nur ein paar wenige Stufen, oder von der Strasse am Monument, dann muss man allerdings sein Gepäck einige Stufen herunter […] tragen. My husband and I stayed at Casa Zuniga during our little get away vacation in Guanajuado city. Rick / owner of the hotel is one of the nicest and most friendly person ever. The location of the hotel is great. and the View from each room is priceless. The staff there is great and traditional mexican breakfast is served daily.

Casa Zuniga has to be the best place I've stayed at on a recent trip. This bed & breakfast isn't a boring, run-of-the-mill hotel, but it's actually Rick and Carmen's home as well. The room itself was amazing. From the layout (the shower and restroom are separated but not in it's own bathroom), to the decorations, to the AMAZING balcony view of Guanajuato, […] I fell in love. Furthermore, Rick and Carmen welcomed us when we got to Casa Zuniga, and Rick even walked us out to give us a brief mini tour of where everything was from the Pipila statue, which offers a view of the entire city. Lastly, the breakfast at 9am was amazing! Really delicious, and it gives you an opportunity to chat up visitors from all over. TIP: When telling a cab driver to get to Casa Zuniga, tell them to drive you to the Pipila. It's a short walk from there. There are also people in white polos with the Casa Zuniga logo walking around that area, so you can ask for more specific directions. My friend and I didn't realize that Casa Zuniga was at the top of the hill, so we walked tons of stairs with all our luggage. Casa Zuniga is very easy to get to, but we just took the long way. Mehr

We only had two days and one night to see Guanajuato so we wanted to stay right in town rather than in one of those big hotels outside of town. The Casa was only several hundred meters from the central park and from Teatro Juarez. The unique factor being that it was several hundred meters ABOVE the park, residing on the hill overlooking the town. However […] the ride down in the funicular took just minutes and is a quaint way to approach the town. The owner, Rick, has been cited in other comments for his warm approach to guests. He joined us for the breakfast and gave us a long and extremely personalized account of the history of Guanajuato. I wish my History classes had been as interesting. Our room overlooked the town, with a little balcony to enjoy a drink or to take good pictures. One tip if you have limited time in the city is to make sure you include a cab ride to the Templo Valenciana and the silver mine that is practically beside it. The guide to the mine takes you down in it and you get a good feeling for what the Indians in the 17th and 18th century had to endure, while the mine owner built the absurd golden tribute to the glory of god that is the adjoining temple. (You can take a local bus back into town for pennies.) Also the Diego Rivera house is definitely worth a visit. And if your Spanish is good enough there is a film there at 11:00 each day on his life whih is extremely interestsing. We had a wonderful time, in large part thanks to Casa Zuñiga. Mehr

I just returned from a short stay at Casa Zuniga and must say the service and location were suberb. Rick, the host, is extremely helpful and goes out of his way to make your stay enjoyable. I had a very early flight out and had to be up by 4 am. He not only called me a cab, but he came to my room bearing a tamale because I was missing breakfast. Get […] a room with a balcony for the gorgeous views. It is up in the hills and steps from the Funicular (Rick gave me a card to use--apparently transportation is included.) The breakfasts were fantastic and thanks to Mexican hospitality, guests are encouraged to eat a lot. There was some construction going on, but it was not disturbing. The hotel owner - Rick was a great host. He took us on a tour of the city and the La Valenciana mine. It was great! Rick's enthusiasm, energy and passion for the city is much to be admired.

Interesting B&B, amazing host. Rick is a character who goes out of his way to make sure his guests get the most out of their stay. Amazingly tasty breakfast as well. Make sure to get a room with a view.

This B & B is excellent and Rick is a very friendly and helpful host. The breakfast was varied and generous and the house is very spacious. Highly reccommended.

If you're more interested in a location's history, geography, economy and its people than you are in rooms elaborately furnished with period or local handicrafts and knickknacks, then this is the place for you. Rick Zuniga loves the town of Guanajuato,its history and its residents, and is a fountain of fascinating information about both. The B&B itself […] was very comfortable for us. It's not lavishly decorated, but that's not important to us. The room was very comfortable. The breakfast, on the other hand, truly sets it apart. Each morning we were presented with generous servings of fruit and scrambled eggs, plus Mexican specialties, such as chiles rellenos, frijoles, grilled breakfast steak or chicken breast with Mexican seasonings. When he has time and enough interest from guests, Rick will take them on quick tours of historical sites within the town, just enough to give one a great start to one's own explorations. Rick and Carmen are wonderful hosts. The views over the city are amazing! Be sure to tell your taxi driver to take you to the top of the stairs (Pipila monument) and not the bottom of the stairs.

EL HOTEL ESTA UBICADO EN UN CERRO, LO QUE HACE QUE SOLO SE PUEDA ACCEDER POR ESCALERAS O FUNICULAR, LA VISTA ES EXCELENTE, LOS PROPIETARIOS MUY ATENTOS Y LAS INSTALACIONES MUY LINDAS

Hotel ligt bovenop heuvel, uitzicht over de stad schitterend, paar stappen van tandradbaan, vandaar in 2 minuten middenin historische binnenstad van Zacatecas. Kamer met balkon ruim en schoon, ontbijt voortreffelijk, eigenaar is groot kenner van de stad en omgeving, geeft goede toeristische informatie. Geen kinderen onder de 16, waardoor rustig. i loved the place and the warm personalitity of the host. i have no complaints and would recommend this to anyone looking for a unique stay and a private setting hotel.

Excelente lugar ,con una muy buena vista de la bella Guanajuato, pero por sobretodo quiero resaltar la calidez y hospitalidad de sus dueños, que fue lo MEJOR!.
