Das Portal Hotel ist sehr nah an "Central Station" (Anreise vom Flughafen mit der Bahn problemlos möglich). Das Stadtzentrum ist zu Fuß in 5-10 Minuten zu erreichen. Parken ist etwas schwieriger: man muss während der Woche zahlen (8am bis 18Uhr). Alternativ kostet aas Valet Service 25 AUD am Tag. Although the rooms are small the best hotel staff that I have ever met made up for that , great food , nothing too much trouble for ANY of the staff , will stay there again

Very cosy, pleasant place to stay - a home away from home for the short time I was here. The staff were very helpful and friendly which made it all the more better.

We stayed at the Diamant Hotel for 5 nights in August and were happy with our stay. The hotel has recently changed hands and the decor in the hotel reception and corridors is clean and fresh. The room, whilst quite small with only a little space around the bed, was clean, comfortable and adequate for sleeping there overnight. The bathroom was spotless […] with toiletries and a nice shower. The room was cleaned everyday and bedding changed half way through our stay. Cannot fault the cleanliness or the friendliness of the staff. A lovely stay! Mehr

Hotel was newly refurbished and done well. The only thing was that the bathrooom was very dark. Ok location a bit of a walk to the centre but for a few nights exploring the city it was fine. staff very friendly and welcoming.

everything was good but not great, except for the staff who were indeed great. Location: far enough so not to be in the noisiest part of the city, but close enough to walk there in 10 minutes or less. toilet was smelly. I don't know if it's the duct or the drains but it smells funny. (or actually, not funny). Air-con / heating doesn't work. it's set […] up according to the outside temperature so that if (outside) it's above or below a certain temperature you can't use the heater / air-con (respectively). There was a night I could've done with a bit more cold, and it wouldn't let me. Mehr

I was visiting Brisbane on business and was really hoping that this could become my second home, when regularly travelling to Brisbane. However, I was extremely disappointed as the: * room was extremely small, even with my luggage and business resources; * no work desk - so always sitting on my bed to complete business; * constant musty smell from bathroom; * […] to combat this, had to leave light and fan constantly running, as well as air conditioner; * the air conditioner was noisy; * was located on first floor so would have bins banging until 11.00pm and re-commence at 5.00am; * view of a black and white wall; * ripped and holey bed linen; and * leaking shower so towels and floor always wet. The office staff were always polite and courteous, while the restaurant had some terrific food and coffee. It was a shame that they couldn't accomodate me within a larger room as I was told that "all the rooms were the same size!" This is a little baffling given that the website states there are different types of rooms??? Therefore, if you enjoy a small box for accomodation within minimal sleep/rest then this is the place for you! Overall, will be looking for another hotel in Brisbane that I can frequent on my regualr trips! Any suggestions? Mehr

Nice hotel with a very fair price. Big compromise on the the size of the hotel room - definately the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. However the location is very good and the staff were very friendly and helpful

The Portal was easy walking distance to Central Train Station, Central Business District, Roma St. Park & Bontanical Gardens. Staff very pleasant! Would definitely book this location again!

Excellent hotel - friendly staff, room clean and just a short walk to the city centre - you can't ask for much more

This hotel is just perfect! Staff is very friendly and always happy to help you. Rooms are modern and clean.

The hotel room was far too small. We stayed for 3 nights and there was no where to even put your suitcase. You can't relax in the room and the balcony is very small.

The hotels staff and service was below average. We returned in the evening to find our door unlocked and open, and that staff had entered our room without letting us know they would. Thankfully nothing was missing from our room! In addition there were dirty coffee cups sitting on the bench (not used by us).Services promised like newspapers, ringing […] to let us know when the room was ready never happend. The staff at the hotel were completely amazing. From booking taxis, keeping our lugguage while we went away to Fraser Island, and quickly rectifying a cleanliness concern. The reception staff were also very helpful and knowledgeable with regards to information about the local area. The room was compact, modern and had everything to make our stay comfortable; […] including an Ipod dock so we could play our music. In the evening we grabbed an enjoyable drink at bar attached to the hotel. Would definitly recommend this hotel to others. Mehr

Well, what can we say? Everything at the Portal was excellent....from the staff to the room to the meals and bar. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. How nice to come to our room after a sumptious dinner to find clean towels, bed turned down and choccies on the bed. Very spoilt in our absolutely comfortable […] king size bed. I chose this hotel for a last minute business trip.Location and pice were major factors. It was better value than larger more luxury hotels. Staff were very welcoming. Hotel was modern, room small but quite adeqaute for overnight stay.Smallproblesm like lightbulb blown in bathroom and dead roses in vases in hallways. No hotel information in room about […] room service or menu so had to gd down to the cafe O. They woud have delibvered to room. Food was good but service very slow. TV and radio hardand slow to operate and no instructions! Breakfast was much better - nice range,reasonably priced cafe style menu. Mehr

Very much enjoyed my stay at the Portal Hotel. Not the greatest location as it's a fairly commercial neighbourhood but it's not a long walk to the Valley or the CBD and there is public transit not far away. The room was quite small (walls were about 2 feet away from all three sides of the bed) but clean and comfortable. There was no tub in the bathroom […] but the shower was very nice. Mehr

Nice boutique hotel -everything you need for a quick overnight stay . Taxis unfortunately have no idea where it is so paid more than I needed to whilst they took me the wrong way - three cabs . Very pleasant staff and super helpful . I would stay again in fact tried to book again but hotel was full

Found all the staff at this hotel to be friendly and helpful. Only thing that lets it down is no onsite parking although the offer a valet service.

What a great find we had with the Portal Hotel, which we will definitely use again & recommend for overnights in Brisbane. Ours was a one night stay whilst in the city for a wedding, and we had wanted an economy hotel hence our booking at The Portal, and I must admit to having some apprehension from reading other online guest comments, but we found […] no faults whatsoever as we had nothing but excellent, friendly service from start to finish. The moment we pulled the car up outside, a porter came out from reception to greet us kerbside and not only assisted with luggage, but after being checked in by the friendly counter staff, he took us up to our room and showed us where things were. We had a standard queen bed room on 4th floor, which was small, but very comfy, with a wonderful bed, neat little bathroom with a very spacious shower, and all the amenities you needed including breakfast and late night snack packs. Better still it was quiet and peaceful, and we had a great nights rest. The cafe on street level has a great atmosphere and serves great coffee and the breakfast menu was superb at a fair price. The Portal Hotel was a great spot to explore Brisbane. It's just a short walk to Central station and well-suited to explore the CBD. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were well-appointed, comfortable and clean. I would stay here again!

Great Hotel, comfortable bed, modern styled room. No problem with late check out til 12:am free of charge... It's a keeper...

yes the Portal hotel is located centrally, including only two blocks from the central train station but the luxurious bed and flat screen tv does not create much of an incentive to get up and go out. Lovely decor, good in-room facilities, no noise from the bar downstairs. The room is a little on the snug side but im prepared to forgive much for a decent […] nights sleep. Loved the size of the TV & bed, but room was too small, & had no bath. But very clean & therefore comfortable..

Well, i arrived earlier then 2pm check in time and they gave us a room immediately, which was excellant because i was driving to surfers paradise. smooth 3nights there, staff were real friendly, Rooms were perfect, changed sheets and new towels every day. Would definately return to Portal Hotel, 52 astor terrace. The only thing i would recommend they […] do is organise parking or have a plan for people parking. it is bang in the middle of town so most people won't need parking but i did as i rent a car. Although the Portal is a new hotel it does have that "sterile" feel that many do. It was the minor things that I found to be irritating - housekeeping not cleaning under the bed; having a balcony that they shouldn't have worried with [so tiny you could barely stand out there, but had 2 chairs & the weest table]; the standard of finish of the paintwork […] left something to be desired and there was no hotel directory of services in the room. I had booked a bed & breakfast package, which was served in the bar downstairs. Although there was a limited choice [2 options] they were imaginative. If you wanted something else there was always the full breakfast menu to select from. Although the breakfast staff were cheery & pleasant the speed of service left something to be desired. The king bed was extremely comfortable with plenty of pillows and made an ideal platform on which to use the laptop, the only flat surface big enough. Overall I was satisfied with the stay, but these little thngs would have gone on to make it a more pleasant stay. Yes, I would give them another go. Mehr

I originally thought the the pOrtal was too far from the CBD to be convenient. I was wrong. The Portal is close to professional services of Spring Hill, easy walking distance to the Queen Street Mall, Casino, etc. I recommend this motel as value for money. They are painting at the moment, so it will be even more fresh soon.

This hotel was very very good, it is almost brand new and the rooms are of a very high standard. They are a good size and well decked out. The bathroom is very nice, a fully tiled wet room with everything you need. The location is very good, you can walk easily to the train station, ferry stop or into the main shopping area. The staff were great, when […] it rained the receptionist stopped me on the way out to give me an umbrella to borrow for free, they always said hello and were very helpful in giving directions and advising on places to go and things to do. The only thing I would say is their bar/pub doesn't open on the weekend and so you have to go out for food but to be fair there is plent of choice down on the riverside area which is 5 minutes walk downhill and it is open week days. This hotel is in an excellent location. The bed is very comfortable. Modern bathroom with good shower. Flat panel television. The rooms are small, as we anticipated based on others' reviews. But the price and location make it an excellent choice. We were on the sixth floor at back side of hotel, and it was very quiet.

The hotel is new and modern. The room was a bit small. There is no restaurants and shops around the hotel, but it's only a short walk to the train station.

The Portal was a neat place. A little small, but new and well designed. The only thing that I didn't care for...and this is pretty picky...was the AC remote. I'm pretty tech savvy and it was impossible to figure out. Overall, it was a very good place.

Conveniently situated for Brisbane city. Clean, tidy and quiet. Fridge took up most of the wardrobe so little space for clothes. So-called Internet access didn't work at all well. I couldn't access my emails and access to ordinary websites was very difficult. The attached cafe was OK but there is a much cheaper one on the other side of the road […] that also opens earlier that the hotel cafe. I had to leave a deposit on checking-in that was an unwelcome surprise. Mehr

enjoyed the stay, the staff wasn't the most accommodating group i've delt with in my travels, but the newness of the hotel made up for the lack of their helpfulness.

Friendly, helpful, staff at the 24-hr reception desk. However, room was small, with apparent emphasis on a stylish, clean, and minimalist look rather than visitor comfort and practicalities. Likely best for a single traveller. Cramped for a married tourist couple with sizable suitcases and desiring bathroom counter space. Comfortable bed; large flat […] panel TV. For $10 more/night, we had included breakfast for two at the adjoining restaurant. A tasty bargain, given usual prices. Location was good. Just a few blocks from the Riverside ferry stop, the Roma Parkland, and one end of the Queens St mall. I recommend this hotel overall, if room space is not a major concern. Mehr
