Lage des Hotels ist etwas außerhalb, aber trotzdem noch gut zu erreichen, sogar mit dem öffentlichen Bus. Ansonsten ist es vollkommen OK vom Preis/Leistungsverhältnis her. Das Beste ist, dass im Preis auch noch ein annehmbares Frühstück enthalten ist. Leckere Kuchen und viel Obst. Und es gibt den ganzen Tag über Gratis-Kaffe und Wasser.

Kann man NUR EMPFEHLEN. Endlich eine Anlage die das Geld im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes wert ist. Super sauber, liegt sehr schön, sehr gepflegt und schöne Poolanlage. Die Mitarbeiter (ALLE!!) waren sehr freundliche und hilfsbereit. Zudem gab es ein ausgezeichnetes Frühstück (Diverse Obstsorten, klasse Café, Toast, Kuchen, Marmelade...). Das Kauai Inn kann ich zu 100 % weiterempfehlen! Das Personal war durchweg super freundlich, das Zimmer sehr groß, gut ausgestattet und sauber. Für die Zeit des Aufenthalts konnte man sich kostenlos verschiedene Reiseführer leihen. Und das Beste war das kostenlose Frühstück mit viel frischem Obst!

Liegt in der Hafengegend, Gartenanlage aber schön. AC war alt und zu laut um laufen zu lassen. Nette Dame am Empfang, aber etwas überfordert. WIFI geht im Zimmer nicht.

Das Kauai-Inn entspricht meiner Vorstellung eines erholsamen Ortes für Ferien, das Preis-Leistung-Verhältnis ist sehr gut, und die Betten sind gut, was für mich auch sehr wichtig ist. Die Zimmer sind recht gross, vor allem diejenigen im oberen Stock. Der einzige Mackel ist das Wi-Fi das nicht immer einwandfrei läuft.

Could not have asked for a better place to stay ! Perfect ! Clean , Quite . Really Really suprised , will stay there again if possible .

I loved the old feel of the hotel, the placement of the windows for the breezes was wonderful. Crowing roosters woke us up int he morning! The bed was very comfortable and the staff was welcoming and helpful. The neighborhood was quiet, except for the early morning mowing across the street.

Nice staff; easy check in. Fun to meet other guests at continental breakfast by the pool each morning. Older motel but well maintained. Rooms small and bathrooms dated, but bedding was new and very comfortable. Large flat screen TV was nice. Would stay here again for a short stay. Close to airport.

Thos hotel is a little older (over 100 years) but quaint with comfortable rooms and Lanai's, a great view of the ridge south of Lihue, and an amazing breakfast with lots of fresh fruits and bread, and first-rate kona coffee. Definitely a great place for the price.

Very satisfied in all categories. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The included breakfast was very good. The hotel is very close to the Lihue Airport and the local Costco, as well as many local shops and restaurants, all within a 10-minute drive. It does not have a shuttle to the airport (like all but one of the other hotels), but you […] will need to rent a car anyway if you are going to explore the island at all. We initially had a first-floor room with a lanai, but the latch on the door to the lanai was broken, making one of the two locks inoperable (the door still locks, but less secure). When we brought it to the attention of the front desk person, Sandy, she immediately went with us to check out other rooms, and we were happy with the second additional room that we saw. No lanai, but on the second floor and, as a consequence, larger. We stayed for 5 nights without feeling cramped. Keep in mind that the room doors are operated with keys, not electronic keycards, but we didn't have any problem while we were there. Sandy also warned us that the strength of the wireless signal may not be strong enough to reach the rooms, but we are welcome to use our computer in the common area outside the office or use their public PC in the office; however, we found that we could get a signal in our room, and got on the internet without problems (albeit a little slow). The fridge and the microwave in the room were very convenient. They also offered the use of their towels, mats, and chairs if you were going to the beach. As long as you return them in good condition, as we did, I'm sure they will continue this tradition. My wife wants me to add her review with the following points: 1. The pool is very small. 2. No workout room. 3. She was initially disappointed that it was not on the beach (this may have been a miscommunication on my part), but, as she told me on the third day, "it (the hotel) grew on me." This hotel was nice but it was not real modern. No sink in bathroom, outside of shower/toilet room. Smelled a little musty but probably because a little older structure. Opened doors and room was refreshed. Staff very nice. Just surprised that hotel had not been updated for awhile.

While the approach through the major container terminal on Kauai is off-putting at first, the actual location is lovely, with mountains in the background and roosters crowing incessantly (as they are everywhere on the island). The rooms are excellent and the property is well-maintained and quite picturesque in a quaint kind of way. Excellent breakfast […] included, boogie boards, beach mats and towels on loan and an overall relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Much more than any review suggested. Mehr

Beautifull landscaping, flowers. Nice coffee, rolls, fruit. Guest computer non fee a bonus. Easy location, convenient to Lihue airport.

We loved staying at the Kauai Inn and will return. The friendly staff, availability of staff, and their willingness to help where needed was great. We also enjoyed the ambiance of breakfast and being able to mingle with the other guests during this time which is something we didn't get while staying at a high priced resort on Maui. Though some might […] not like the location being near industry and the port, we actually liked the ease of getting there and being away from heavy traffic, and even liked the neighborhood setting. The Kauai Inn is a quaint hotel. Very comfortable, very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. It's worth the price.

We needed a place for only one night, close to the airport, an Kauai Inn filled the bill. Reasonable price, small but clean rooms, nice people, quiet spot. It's not a resort,but has reasonable amenities. One thing that could be improved is signage. Because it's in an industrial area, it's very hard to find. This is a nice little hotel tucked away in a harbor on Kauai. It is an old hotel with a little bit of charm. The rooms were clean and tidy. The bed was VERY comfortable! Because it is old the walls are thin so you can hear everything that is going around you. It is surrounded by residences and a park. We could hear "partying" going on at the park well […] into the night. The windows/doors are older so they don't seal out the noises very well. The free Wi-Fi they advertise was virtually non-exsistent. If I sat out by the pool I might have been able to get service but it was raining the whole time I was there so I couldn't sit by the pool. The free breakfast didn't have a great selection but it wasn't bad. If you are doing Kauai on a budget and don't mind a little noise this hotel is a good option otherwise you might want to look around a bit. Mehr

In my mind there are only 2 negatives about this hotel. A hot tub would make the pool area more rewarding as we were only back at the hotel in the evening and the pool was a little cold and almost no one ever used it. The location, while picturesque and convenient as far as proximity to the airport, is not within easy walking distance of anything. […] Although if you have a car (which you probably will) Kalapaki Beach and the Anchor Cove shopping/Restaurant area is 2 minutes away, and kukio grove shopping mall (with the closest starbucks) is just 5 minutes away. Oh, and I almost forgot, no coffee makers in the room, although they do mostly have coffee by the reception, but still $20 a room would solve that problem. Positives are: great picturesque view, authentic feeling, good value for the money, friendly, helpful staff, clean, rooms spacious - not extravagant - but comfortable and they had everything I needed, breakfast included (boiled eggs would be a nice addition to the fruit and muffins and toast), laundry facilities definite plus, I would stay again for the price I paid. The Free breakfast is wonderful and the views of the nearby mountains are cool. However, there's absolutely nothing withn walking distance...definitely rent a car. Book the rental car online, its cheaper.

This hotel is sort of hidden, but what a nice welcoming atmosphere. We enjoyed our brief stay and would recommend it anytime.

I was very satisfied with my stay. It was a beautiful environment. The staff was very helpful. The only problem I found was that it was out of the way. If I were looking for a hotel just by driving, I would never have seen the hotel. I don't believe it even had signs directing one to the hotel. But I had a wonderful stay. First of all, great price! The continental breakfast (served close to 8:15 a.m. every day) was great, free coffee 24 hours a day, very quiet hotel, very quiet neighborhood (on the edge of a residential area). The front desk loaned us a Kauai guidebook for our stay and gave us a 2-for-1 coupon for an ATV tour. The bed was very comfortable, but the pillows […] were not great (okay, but not great). They have coin-operated laundry for those who need it. The rooms have A/C, but you can also open the windows and turn on the ceiling fan when it's cool if you'd rather have the fresh air. The only weird things were that 1) being on the edge of a residential neighborhood, when we looked out the window we could see people in their yards behind the hotel (not right next to it, but clearly visible) and 2) in our room, the bathroom and the sink were on the same side of the room as the door to the outdoor walkway and there were two windows, but the windows only had sheer curtains. It didn't make us uncomfortable, because it was such a quiet hotel without a lot of traffic on the outdoor walkways, and with mostly much older guests. We would definitely stay here again. Mehr

Very nice staff, the room was nice, although a wodden door with some sort of opening to the bathroom, making it not so private to be in there. :) Would recommend it and is definently gonna stay there if I go to Kauai again!

The place is a dump, very difficult to find and in serious need of renovation. It's by the town garbage dump and an industrial area, very depressing to travel by when you're expecting beautiful. The room was passable, but I would only stay here if one was on a very tight budget. For a bit more a night we could have stayed somewhere nice. Not worth  […] it! Mehr

This was exactly what our group was looking for. We were camping at various places around the island but wanted a cheap place to stay for our first night to relax after our flight. This was one of the best values we could find. We weren't looking for anything special, but all things considered, the hotel was very nice! Beautiful pool area and landscaping; […] the staff was very helpful and homely. At night, we wanted to do some stargazing with the clear Kauai sky, so we were eyeing the pool area and the staff noticed and offered to bring us some towels to put over the pool/beach chairs! Breakfast was a little late (by mainland standards) but wasn't too annoying (we felt it was more the laid back Hawaii-style); we mainlanders are always worried about time too much anyway. :) But breakfast was delicious consisting of various muffins, breads, and fresh fruit (including some amazing pineapple!). The most annoying part is the roosters in the morning, but that's going to be anywhere on Kauai! (don't plan on sleeping in!) Mehr

Enjoyed my stay and would stay there again. Need a rental car, but lots to see and do in the area if you have one, and is away from the main highway. Niumalu area is Old Hawaii, even if it is right next to Nawiliwili harbor. Estuary area where Huleia River comes out is amazing (but they better get a grip on the mangroves!). Great place for kayakers, […] kama'aina and budget travelers. Family run by local family with lots of aloha. These smaller places are a dying breed in Hawaii - so glad Kauai Inn is still there. Even if it's for only one night, this is the relaxing Kauai experience....NOT a Marriott or a Wyndam resort experience. Close enough to the GOOD local restaurants on the west side of the Nawiliwili Marriiott to long walk or minutes drive. Don't let the adjacent harbor area fool you into thinking that the location is a poor one: A cool place to stay […] with great local feel to it and friendly staff. Mehr

This was a wonderful one night stay for the two of us. It was the first night of our month long stay on Kauai. Our flight arrived in Lihue at 9:00 pm, so this was a perfect place to get a good night's sleep after traveling for more than twelve hours from Virginia. The Kauai Inn is small, but the bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean and comfortable. […] The complimentary breakfast they served was delicious with fresh tropical fruits, muffins, etc. We would definitely stay there again. It was a great "connecting night" until we could check into our timeshare which, by the way, is on the Northshore of Kauai, a 45 minute drive from the Lihue Airport. Mehr

You can catch free wi-fi only in reception building, poor signal strength. 1 of 5. Breakfast is not as good as everyone describe. Several slices of fruits. 2 of 5.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Quiet and relaxing. No coffee maker in room, but we were close enough to the patio to walk over and get our coffee. Small inconvenience.

Close to the airport and easy drive to mai tais on the beach (Dukes). The hostess was fabulous, as she was extremely friendly and cared about the Inn. We arrived early and she graciously accommodated us. The grounds are attractive with a great variety of beautiful plants, and our room had hardwood floors. The Kauai Inn is located in Lihue in the center of the island if you are driving around by car. It's located in a residential area near the boat harbor with a small park across the street. Good view of the mountains behind it but not much view of the water. Airport, shopping and restaurants a short drive away. Great location for touring the island, […] not if you just want to stay in one resort. Area and hotel was quiet at night, no road noise, but port can be noisy during the day and the chickens are noisy in the morning but you will have them anywhere in Kauai. Couple of dogs and cats on the grounds. Older 2-story wooden buildings on nicely landscaped grounds with small pool run by friendly local family for 100 years. They live onsite, but only open at 8 AM and close around 9 PM so if you need 24-7 service, you may not like it here. Cost was very low for Kauai. Room was comfortable with excellent king bed, many pillows. Includes refrigerator, microwave, large flat screen TV with many channels, plenty of hot water and towels. Has a guest laundry and will loan extra towels and beach mats for pool or beach and dishes for cooking or barbecue. Room had small air conditioner and ceiling fan. They want you to turn off all electricity when you are gone, so leave the windows open with fans on. Room can still get pretty hot and it takes a while to cool it down if you get back before evening. One minus is that rooms are usually very hot on arrival. Lots of fresh fruit, breads, juices and coffee at free breakfast poolside. Starts as soon as they set up after 8:00 and ends at 9:30, but realistically 8:15-9:00 is the time to go. Free parking and wi-fi, but others said it was slow, also had a guest computer in the office. I used Verizon on my laptop and had good reception for it and my cell. Has a small pool. Biggest negative was lack of security for belongings. No safe in the room and none in the office. We had no trouble, but best bet may be to pay the rental car company a Mehr

This hotel was wonderful! When pulling into the hotel, you can tell from the outside that it's very peaceful and welcoming. The staff was friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast is delicious. The only complaint would be it doesn't start until 8:15am. The room was clean and with the mini fridge and microwave made it easy to save money while on […] vacation. For the price, you couldn't get a better hotel. Very close to airport and you're only 30-40 minute drive in either direction from main attractions. 1. For internet in the room you need to ask login and password at the reception. Internet was unstable in the room: sometimes fast, sometimes very slow. Stable fast internet was only at the reception area. 2. For breakfast they serve fruits and muffins. We stayed for 4 nights. Fruits were not fresh once. 3. Went for Kauai Marathon in September The Kauai Inn is literally less than 10 minutes from the Car Rental parking lot to the check in desk. 1 minute off the main road by the Harbor, very quite neighborhood. Nice mountain back drop. Was almost dead center between both ends of the Hwy to each side of the Island. Great price for location. Clean rooms, nice […] friendly family staff. Good little breakfast of fruits and muffinsm juices. Nice little pool but beaches are close. Very close to a large shopping center & resturants either direction. Super K-Mart 3 minutes away, Walmart 7-8 mintues away. Not a resort which was great for me and my sister, We preffer small friendly places. Has Microwave and good size compact frigde (we could fit a case of 24 water bottles and lots of snacks in fridge). Cleaning people were friendly. Has washer and dryer avalable for guest use. Owner gave me and my sister 50% discount tickets for ATV adventure that he was not going to use. Will stay here again when I come back. Mehr

We had to leave the timeshare we were staying at and needed the hotel for 1 night. It looked the same in person as it did online. Very friendly lady at check in and everything was clean and neat. Continental breakfast was great also. Great view of the mountain and was close to a small shopping area near where the cruise ships come in. If you need a […] basic,clean.comfy and affordable place for a few days this is for you. No frills here just a great place to keep you stuff and rest your head. Mehr

I absolutely love the charm of the Kauai Inn... right next to the mountains.... the view is amazing... located close to the beach/shopping/dinning. The breakfast was delicious. I love love loved the fresh fruit coffee and bagle. EXCELLENT service. I will most definitely stay there again!
