Park Place at City Centre - Indianapolis

My overall experience and satisfaction of the Park Place at Center City was not very good. When I arrived in my room, I found that it smelled of cigarettes or some other type of smoking material. Is was unable to get the smell out of my room by opening windows for the length of my stay at the hotel. The front desk personnel were not very welcoming or […] approachable when I voiced my concerns about the room. I found out early in my stay that the shuttle service to the Indianapolis downtown area was not timely. I had to walk back to the hotel (2.5 miles) due to the shuttle service not being on time and ending their shuttle service at inconvenient times during my stay in the Indianapolis area. I would not recommend this hotel to others and will seek other accommodations in the future when I come back to the Indianapolis area. Mehr

I liked the room and the hotel. It was nice and a good deal. It was about 2 miles from downtown center Indianapolis and there was a shuttle service. The thing is I was told after riding it for free the first day and I injuried about possibly missing the shuttle, then I was charged five dollars per ride each way because I was told the two hotels that […] were next to each other were "sister" hotels only and mine didn't include the free shuttle. Staying at the Park Place at City Centre was a great experience. We got a good deal for going during the Big Ten basketball tournament, and we even walked to downtown Indy once and it wasn't that bad of a walk at all. Staff was very friendly and they upgraded our room so that was a bonus as well.

The room was great untill I went to sleep. I found two bugs crawling on the bedspread. Yes it was clean,the room was like a small apt. for an extremely low price but the bugs on the bed.... I ended up sleeping on the couch!! Not too comfy. It turns out they weren't bed bugs but any bug is bad. everything else though was great.

I was pleasantly surprised as I entered my suite during a short visit to Indianapolis. My meeting didn't include resources for an expensive stay - and the very appropriate rates were indeed matched with a very comfortable and sizeable suite. I'll return!

Bathroom is way way too small. Nowhere to place your shave kit.

Other than, not being on GPS to find the hotel I enjoyed staying there. Coming to a strange city and not knowing where you are going can be stressful.

This is a no frills hotel! They don't have daily cleaning (clean once a week), but I loved it. The room was stated to be a one bedroom suite, but when I arrived, I was pleased to get a two bedroom apartment, with a living room and an efficiency-like kitchen with full size appliances! This was a great place to relax and had plenty of space for two people. […] To my knowledge, there was no breakfast or anything. It was like renting an apartment for 4 nights! Once they give you the key, you are on your own, but they are available if you need something. I will stay here again! It's not as convenient as staying in downtown Indy, but it is MUCH less expensive...you can take a cab downtown for $5 or drive and park your car. On average, it was about a 7-10 minute trip, including parking, to the convention center. Mehr

Our room was more than we expected, and I had read the reviews before booking. We arrived thinking we had a room with one bed, and actually checked into a 2 bedroom suite. The kitchen was great, the room is a litle dated but served our purpose perfectly. It does have the college dorm feel with all the kids around, but they didn't bother us at all.

It was fine, the only problem was our lock on the door didn't work, but the secondary lock did - will probably stay there next year

I only stayed for one night, but this place reminded me of my first apartment. 2 bedrooms, kitchen and living room. I would have liked to enjoy the pool, but ddn't have time due to work constraints. Very clean, and I was able to get to downtown for a meeting quick and easy in the morning.

I was a little nervous about the name of the hotel when I booked it, I am so glad I did. It is a great place to stay. It's like staying at an apartment.. I would stay again.

Seems as if there are a lot of people that live in this hotel. The pool was not heated as they claim it is. A lot of students stay there. No clean towels though during a 2 night stay.

The hotel was close to my destination for medical care appt. The check-in personnel were very abrupt and did not appear to be very customer focused. The location is some distance away from any dining facilities and pool was still not open. Overall not too bad.

Very good space for low price, but older facility with older carpets, bathrooms, slow elavators, etc. You get a place to sleep and not much more. Convenient to downtown and Indianapolis Motor Speedway. If you want a good hotel stay somewhere else. I'd spend a little more for daily room cleaning and a newer and better maintained facility.

Close to downtown, the universities, and the river. No frills from a service perspective. Clean and functional. Did not tell us the pool was not in service which was disappointing.

Too far to walk to downtown and was very noisy. Some students live in this hotel and they were up late banging around and making hallway noise. It was like a dorm.

I did not know that Park Place was used as a dorm for overflowing students for the nearby university. There was no mention in reviews or by Hotels.com. It was a little awkward being surrounded by college kids.

The room was better than expected. Large, comfortable and in a wonderful location. There wasn't a single problem from start to finish, with all of the comforts of home. The wi-fi connection was excellent, the appliances modern and in wonderful condition. Not one bad thing to say about our stay, from the helpful staff to the pleasant accommodations.

room was large and clean but very out dated not close to anything. trouble sleeping due to lihts outside window that were on all night. you get what you pay for would not go back to this hotel.

The hotel was excellent the room was clean it has your own kitchen like living in your own apartment. I would definitely stay here again. The hotel next door provides shuttle service to downtown Indianapolis.

Anyone thinking of staying at Park Place at City Centre, be aware. Some of the hotel has been converted to college dorm rooms. We arrived at 10:30 p.m. and had to walk into the building under the watching eyes of a group of 15-20 college-age young men who were hanging around and "scoping" us as we entered the building. We had not been informed that […] we would be staying in the same building with students beforehand, so the whole situation was quite a surprise for us. Once we got over the shock, and the messy appearance of the office, and were directed by the (fairly friendly) staff to our room, we discovered that the "room" was actually an entire suite with full kitchen, separate living room and bedroom, large closet and bathroom. It was evident that this suite had once been an entire one-bedroom apartment (larger than expected). The room was well-kept and clean upon our arrival, but again, I was surprised that there was no daily room service. Apparently this is considered an "extended stay" hotel; you do not get clean towels, a new coffee packet, or trash emptied unless you ask. All in all, I would say we had a positive experience, but this is a cautious recommendation. If you are trying to save money, you may want to try it; it's fairly convenient to the downtown. But be aware of the drawbacks before you sign up. Mehr

I chose this hotel because it was reasonably priced and within a few miles of where I was going in downtown Indianapolis. The road that leads to the hotel looks like a side road or back entrance but it is the only access to the hotel. There is no driveway in front of the door you go in to register or go to your room. You have to go a short ways up […] a sidewalk to enter the hotel - not good for registration or dropping someone off on a rainy night. As bad as that is, the driveway by the sidewalk is a no parking area. I had to park my car way back in the parking lot to enter the hotel and register. Then, I had to walk a long distance back to my car to get my bags. Once in the hotel, I walked right past the registration desk. It looked more like a private office than a registration desk. It didn't take long to figure out this is an extended stay hotel with a large number of college students - a dorm. Students were everywhere at all hours: hanging out in the entrance, in front of the hotel and tailgating in the parking lot. My single room was fine. It was very large, clean but showed lots of signs of wear. The staff, from the people who checked me in an out to the maids, were very nice. The hotel didn't have a restaurant or a vending machine. The closest convenience stores looked like very unsafe areas. This hotel served its purpose for an adult male traveleing alone but I won't stay there again and I certainly wouldn't recommend it, especially for couples or women traveling alone. Mehr

one staff member was a little rude, but did make thing as convient as possible considering the amount of students checking in. Rooms were very quiit, and comfortable. Students were very resectful. Lots of room, big closet. We knew there would be no daily room service, but we could pick up our towels and coffee at the office each day.

Where do I begin... the shower leaked water all over the bathroom floor, there was NO counter space for toiletries, there was broken wall plaster on the floor, there was something disgusting in the sink (looked like chewing tobacco), the AC did not work...finally after 90 minutes and a second call, someone came to fix it. The lights on the outside of […] the hotel were so bright in the bedroom, it looked like mid-afternoon all night (blinds did no good!). The neighborhood was highly suspect and getting to the hotel was a joke! I'll never stay here again, nor would i recommend it to anyone! Ever! Mehr

I cannot understand the negative reviews this hotel received. It was very clean and the grounds were also well kept. The only negative is it is in need of room darkening shades- too much light shining through at night. I would call this place Indianapolis' Best Kept Secret -- great price and very clean.

The price does not reflect ll you get at this suite hotel. the rooms are very large with full kitchens and king size beds. The pool is heated and open until 1100pm . The small store in the lobby.has basic needs . and goodies. The staff were helpful and courteous. My stay was pleasant

The room was very spacious and clean. It was more like a small apartment. Two bedrooms, living room, bath, and small kitchen area. The pool looked to be nice and it was within walking distance to the Track. I would highly recommend the hotel and i will stay there again next year. Price was also reasonable given the fact that it was a race weekend.

The Park Place apartments are a great value. We stayed in a two bedroom (one queen, one king) apartment that had a living room with pull out couch (not very comfy for sitting on), two wingback chairs, a small dining table and full kitchen. The kitchen had some dishes, but not a complete set up by any means. However, it was clean, quiet and a short drive […] from downtown. It is NOT, as the name suggests in the city center. In fact, it is across the river near the campus. Despite the location, you can't beat the price for an entire apartment! Mehr

The pictures on the internet are of the few rooms that they had renovated. The hotel as a whole has not been renovated in some time...that is obvious. Old appliances and worn out furniture. Therefore, it's only as clean as one could expect. The air was working minimally. Very hot in the room. Too hot to curl hair or do makeup. Some of the light switches […] did not work. No staff around the clock, therefore no access to towels. The sister hotel across the street would not provide towels. Noticed that the office air was extremely cool and was very comfortable in there behind the closed doors. (Noticed this at check out). The front patio was dirty with leaves and cigarette butts. The front garbage was overflowing. The calliber of people staying there were those that would hang out in front of the hotel and throw paper and cigarette butts on the ground. Therefore, if these are the ones providing the other reviews, that speaks volumes. Normally, I would have seen the quoted price as a red flag however, when the site reported the normal price to have been reduced related to a summer special, I counted it as a blessing. I must remember that in this day and economy....No company is going tobe that generous. My family asked to look at the rooms in the sister hotel across the yard (Candlewood Suites) and It was "GORGEOUS" and of course, the price spoke to that. I had already pre-paid on on the website and was told by the sister hotel staff that I could not transfer unless I wanted to pay out of pocket and hope for a refund. Mehr
