Hotel Utica, An Ascend Colletion Hotel - Utica

We went to Hotel Utica for a quick, convenient one night getaway and it was perfect for us. It is a very historical hotel and the lobby is wonderful! The room was small, but clean and the bed was fairly comfortable - could have used a comfortable chair and another light. The bartender was very friendly and was nice enough to make a special dessert drink […] for me! The breakfast buffet was free, hot, and okay. The central location makes it easy to get any where you want to go in Utica. It is not a Marriott, but it is a unique hotel and definitely worth the experience. Mehr

Really neat, historic old hotel, a reminder of a grand past for a city that has been depressed for the last 15-20 years due to corruption and mismanagement. A reminder of what was and what this city should be, but is not.

The Hotel Utica was restored a few years ago to its original grandeur. The lobby and dining areas are gorgeous, the rooms are large and each one is unique. Breakfast is more than just a plate of donuts. Everyone is very friendly and informative.

This isn't your Holiday Inn Express. The Hotel Utica is a throwback to the early 20th century. The staff and bar are great, so if you like a more classic look, I would highly recommend this hotel.

My daughter & I stayed here to look at a local college but were very disappointed with the location and condition of the hotel. It was probably a nice hotel many years ago but everything is dated and looked old. The surrounding area is not very attractive and we couldn't wait to leave the hotel & the town. The Hotel Utica is close to the Stanley Performing Arts Center, a beautifully restored Art Deco movie palace, where we saw the touring company production of STOMP. The Hotel Utica Lobby soars two stories with a second floor arcade overlooking the main floor and chandeliers. The Accomodations were comfortable. Onl stayed one night, but had a wonderful experience. All the staff that we interacted with were very pleasant and helpful. The room was as promised, a Non-smoking room with a queen bed. Did not get a chance to use the fitness facility, but maybe next time.

Basic rooms. General quality that you would expect in a 2.5 star accommodation (Comfort, Quality, HI Express, etc.). Historic elegance to lobby gives it a bit more class.

The lobby is a classic "turn of last century" but well updated, and not at all musty like you might expect. There was an old fashioned bar/breakfast room with a respectible offering. The Hotel Utica is a good place to stay in the center of Utica. It was clean, the staff were efficient, and the lobby is spectacular. Unless you are on business, there's not much around, but it was convenient to the Interstate and other roads.

They don't make 'em like this anymore! The Hotel Utica has a grand lobby with crystal chaneliers, wide hallways, huge rooms and is right in the center of town. It's an experience unlike anything you'll find at a modern motel. There were a few stains on the upholstery, but the room was clean and tidy overall, and the bathroom was spotless. We were there […] on Sunday night and it was obvious that the 14 floor building was mostly empty - a bit of an eerie feeling. But everything was fine, everything worked as it should, and we had fine night's sleep for a very reasonable price. The included continental breakfast wasn't lavish, but included eggs and sausage as well as bagel, muffins, cereal, juice, etc. As other reviews have noted, there's not a lot of activity in the downtown area around the hotel, but there are small parks and a few businesses nearby. I was nicely surprised that this old hotel was in good condition. The lobby and room was nice. The morning breakfast (free) was a bonus. The only negative was that the people next to use must have been smoking, even tough the entire floor was non-smoking. We could smell it through the door that connected the rooms.
