Ambassador Hotel - Glasgow

I visit Glasgow most weeks on business and this lovely hotel is 1 of my favourites. Great location in West end of Glasgow. Quiet street just a short 5 min stroll past Botanical Gardens to the array of interesting bars and restaurants on Byers Rd. Staff as with all McQuade owned hotels are extremely friendly and helpful. Very close to the West End shops and a short bus trip to the city. Comfortable and cosy accomodation.

My fiancee and I really enjoyed our stay at the Ambassador. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable. I will say that the room was a lot smaller than I was expecting, but it was still great, especially for the price. I'm also very glad that we stayed in the West End, we were visiting family there and it was nice […] to be in a quieter part of town. There are also great restaurants and bars in this area and a really pretty trail that can take you further in town. However, since it rains often, we often found ourselves walking in town or to the tube in the rain. Mehr

A small room in a great location - next to the University, Gardens and Public transport. Rooms were adequate and clean. Staff was friendly.

This hotel was ok for a one night stay. The room we were given was in the attic very small and dated with very small window and poor ventilation. (there were two small fans in the wardrobe so we were not the only guests to find it airless !.Our view was just the roof.

Triple room was huge, lots of room and very comfortable beds. Net access a plus. Full breakfast was tasty. A bit more expensive than I would have preferred, but a quality establishment.

This is an ideal base if you want to enjoy the west end of glasgow, it's only a couple of minutes walk away from the bars, shops and restaurants, but it's in a quiet location by the kelvingrove park. Our room was a little bit tight on space but not unmanageable, and was very clean.

A good value hotel at a convenient location. Quality and standard of the accommodation was good, although to be honest from a reception perspective we did n't get the warmest of welcomes, the staff are a bit diffident.

We arrived at about 9.30 am due to an early flight from Gatwick. Our room was already available and we were able to check in straight away. This was a relief to us as it was snowing heavily and we were quite damp. This is a perfectly adequate hotel and the staff were particularly cheery and helpful. It is perfectly situated for the West End of Glasgow. […] The Oran Mor and the Botanic Gardens. It is only a short hop into the city centre by subway from nearby Hillhead Station on Byres Road. We would recommend checking out Byres Road as it has some wonderful individual shops and make sure you visit Ashton Lane for it's bars and restaurants. As we had a late night flight on Sunday the staff gladly locked our bags away for us so we could enjoy a full day out in Glasgow. We would definitely stay in this hotel again Mehr

Great centrally located hotel close walk to Hillhead underground and shops and restaurants on Byers Road. Next to Botanical gardens. Staff helpful and rooms comfortable.

Well located in Glasgow's lovely West End. Hotel service is good. Only negative is that our double room was quite small.

A charming, converted 'gentleman's house' in a very pleasant part of the city,opposite the Botanical Gardens and easily accesible by pubic transport which is complemented by a taxi rank 150 yards away. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the rooms neat and clean with adequate storage for clothes etc. A good breakfast was provided, with real, not […] reconstituted, fruit juice and the quality of the food was good. It is a pity that there was no evening meal available but there are plenty of restaurants and cafes of every variety on the nearby Great Western Road. Similarly, the bar facilities are very limited, and close early, but ,again, there is no shortage of pubs in the area. No big downsides, but the following would merit consideration by the management: . the water in the self-service 'hot' drinks machine provided for breakfast is not at a temperature to make a decent cup of tea. Water for tea-making needs to be BOILING not just 'hot'. Just about excusable on the Continent or in the USA but unforgivable in Britain. . the showers were old-fashioned and underpowered, and in my twin room there was no bath in which to have a good soak after a long day. . Distracting television in the breakfast room. WHY do hotels assume that people want to watch the bally television at breakfast, which should be a time of quiet relaxation before starting what could be a busy day. Take them out!! Mehr

Stayed 2 nights and found the location very central and an excellent location for exploring both the city and outlying regions. The hotel staff were helpful and pleasant. The room was clean and well maintained.

Ett rent och snyggt hotell i en lugn och skön miljö nära en av de mindre floderna, ca 10 min till city m tunnelbana. Bra frukost, väldigt stadig skotsk! gratis internet och parkering bakom huset. Prisvärt!
