Lorien Hotel and Spa, a Kimpton Hotel - Alexandria

Das Hotel war sehr schön und sauber. Der Service der angestellten war sehr zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Die Gegend ist auch sehr schön und eine Bahn-Station ist auch in Reichweite. Es gibt sogar im Hotel ein künstliches Feuer draußen das die ganze Nacht brennt bei dem man gemütlich entspannen kann. Das kostenlose Internet auf dem Zimmer mit PC war […] sehr positiv. Jedoch muss man ehrlich auch sagen dass man das für diesen Preis auch ein bisschen erwarten kann. Waren hauptsächlich zum schlafen im Hotel jedoch sind die meisten Gäste Geschäftsleute. Mehr

Ja wer hier Station macht fühlt sich wohl. Nein ich bekomme keine Prämie für diese Zeilen. Aber das neue Kimpton Lorien in Alexandria ist ne Wucht. Ich komme hier garantiert wieder her. Es ist nicht billig aber preiswert. Frühstück kommt extra mit ca 20$

Neat boutique hire that is very convenient to the Metro and all that Old Town Alexandria has to offer. Great restaurant on premise (Brabo) and really enjoyed the nightly wine tasting in the lobby.

The room was extremely small for the price, and the furniture was a little worn. Room service didn't offer any vegetarian food, and although they did make a special order veggie plate for me that was delicious, they charged an entree price for it, and I thought that was a bit cheesy for a "wellness" hotel and spa. Then the fire alarm went off and we […] had to vacate, but there wasn't any clear direction from staff on what to do. I love the town, but I would go for a less expensive chain hotel next time - this really wasn't worth the money. Mehr

For the price of our room it was not that great of an experience. The bed was okay but we stayed in a super 8 on the way in the night before and that bed was much much more comfortable. Also for the price I would expect to have free internet service. The DUNCAN DOUGHNUTS a few stores down had free internet and all you have to buy is a coffee. I was […] afraid to use anything in the room because you did not know what was going to be charged and what wasnt. The vallet parking was a hidden charge as well. if you read what the hotel offers you will see a list of things that you think are included in price, turned out some are and some arent. We wanted a nice place to stay for our honeymoon, we figured out what we could afford to spend and found this hotel based on the price given including taxes. We winded up with over $60 more charges than anticipated. Also we used my husband debit/credit card and because it was that kind of card they put a $200 hold on the card that wasnt returned for five days. so over $260 was cut from our vacation money. The hotel was clean and the people were nice enough there but for the money I expected a lot more. Mehr

This was a beautiful hotel, but as a business traveler some of the amenities I am used to were not here. No coffee/tea maker or microwave in the room. You had to order ice from room service since there wasn't any machines. The mini bar took up too much space in the refrigerator. Our stays at Lorien just keep getting better. This time around, we booked a room for the standard king rate, but they upgraded us to a suite because...well, because they're really nice? I really am not sure I've ever stayed at a better hotel in my life. The bed is soooo amazingly comfortable, and the shower/bath were to die for. Do we plan to return? […] As soon as possible! I stayed here for 3 nights while traveling for business. It's close proximity to old-town Alexandria was very nice. It was also within walking distance to the DC Metro (King Street Station). Being right on King St made it easy to catch a cab. The room was comfortable and modern, although the ultra-modern sliding glass bathroom door didn't provide much […] "privacy". The staff was very friendly. The attached Brabo restaurant was excellent. The fitness center was also better than I expected with several options including treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, dumbbells, and weight machine. Mehr

This is my second time staying at a Kimpton Hotel, and now I'm a fan. The Kimpton Hotels are not outrageously priced, and yet they seem to give you a high-end experience. They pay attention to the little details that can make your stay so much more comfortable.

Beautiful hotel, close to shops, restaurants and Metro, easy access to Washington, DC. Rooms are modern, updated with a beautiful bathroom but on the small side for two people. We stayed in a regular king room. The air conditioning didn`t work the second night and we called customer service who said they would contact the maintenance person. An hour […] later we hadn`t heard back but thought we had got the air to kick in, however it didn`t work and the room was at 80F all night. I mentioned it to the clerk when we checked out but he didn`t seem interested, apart from that it was a nice hotel and spotlessly clean. Mehr

This is a new Kimpton property conveniently located on King Street within walking distance of the Metro. Everything about it is first-class, including complimentary coffee service in the "drawing room" in the morning and wine tastings in the evening. If you are traveling on a budget, the on-property restaurants are pricey, but there are dozens of choices on King Street. This hotel was amazing from start to finish. The staff was kind, the spa was incredible, room was hip and clean, but the location was spectacular. You are a block from the metro right into DC, but King Street is worth the visit alone. If you choose this hotel you will be so happy you did!!!!!

Hotel was spot "on" with check in service,quick to aid any particular questions asap. Always looked you in the eye and treated you with "true"concern . Rooms were very clean- a little pricey on the "in house items" but nice convenience. Right by the Metro so great drop off point.

Hotel is on King Street next to nothing that is open past 9pm beside the overpriced restaurant that connects to the hotel. So if you need anything or want anything other than high priced food you have to continue to get the car in and out of valet. The room itself was clean and nice with a pleasant staff. However, I did have one bad experience when […] asking how to get to the local pharmacy. They gave me directions to a CVS on Washington Ave that they said was 24/7 yet when I got there it was closed. This caused me at least 30 minutes in delay...frustrating. The spa is nice, however, with limited staff (1 person to do massage) we were unable to get a couples massage or any decent time as the prime times (early morning and late evening) booked up fast. You would think a hotel that has a spa on site would have the ability to accommodate more people at a time. I think there are many people like us that wanted to use it, but didn't because of the limited availability. Overall, I would say the room was clean and comfortable yet very small. The limited spa times are terrible for anyone who wants to enjoy DC and not wait around for a midday massage. The price you pay isn't worth it, not to mention valet is 20+ dollars a day. If we go back to the Old Town area again we will certainly look elsewhere. There is a hotel down the street that is closer to the metro and has a parking garage. I would give them a look. Lovely hotel, very helpful and friendfly staff. Beds are very comfortable and rooms are quiet and very nicely decorated. Really enjoy staying at Kimpton Hotels in general and this was no exception. Hotel nicely located on the main street of Alexandria. Definitely recommend it.

What a great hotel! The room was so comfortable, and the staff could not have been nicer. And you can't beat the free wine/beer happy hour. My dogs also enjoyed it, as they are always treated like superstars at Kimptom Hotels. If you have reason to come to Alexandria, this is an experience you won't regret. HIghly recommended!

I love this place. Wonderful amenities and services.

This was our first experience traveling with our pet...Saki. He's a small dog but felt like a king throughout his stay. The staff was beyond accommodating! When they heard him crying while we were at dinner they took him and walked him, entertained him and kept him company. Service from everyone was impeccable! Very cute boutique hotel in decor!

Very positive experience until the very end. The bellman smiled, opened the door to the car, handed me the keys and said have a safe trip. The only problem was that he did not get our luggage in the car. The hotel has not done a good job of following up to see that we got our luggage. Staff was extremely helpful, upgraded us to king deluxe room, bed was very comfortable, liked the pillow menu. wine reception was enjoyable, great location

Excellent hotel - I highly recommend it.

My best friend had her wedding here and it was lovely. A very nice boutique hotel. The decor was beautiful, the service was impeccable and the beds were really comfortable. The shower was really nice as well with a Kohler shower head. They even have a desktop computer available in each room with free internet access, in addition to free wireless internet […] for guests. If you don't want to eat in the hotel (although the hotel food was very tasty!), there is a Subway sandwich shop next door! The valet parking was very nice; they even stored our luggage in our car for us while we were attending the wedding reception. All in all, a fantastic experience. Mehr

I've stayed at the Lorien a total of 5 to 6 times now, so I suppose I'm finally qualified to review it. This is a *great* place, and my girlfriend and I practically insist on staying here every time we come to DC. Allow me to enumerate the (many) positives first. For one, the location (Old Town Alexandria) is fantastic - it's a quick walk to several […] stores and restaurants, as well as the King Street Metro. There's also a Whole Foods and a coffee shop close by. We LOVE the modern, somewhat minimalist decor. There's a subtle, though very pleasant, scent that permeates the entire hotel. It reminds me of the old Tommy Hilfiger men's cologne, if you're familiar with that. As you know, there is a spa downstairs, and guests are allowed complimentary access to the steam and locker rooms, which is great. What's more, in every room, there's a book full of complimentary spa amenities that can be brought to your room at (more or less) the push of a button. Speaking of the guest rooms, let me just say that they're fantastic - spacious and spotlessly clean. Housekeeping has always done a great job of having them fresh and ready when we return from a day of shopping or a night on the town. The bed is also incredibly comfortable - perhaps the best I've ever slept in. I've unfailingly fallen asleep within (it seems) seconds of closing my eyes. There is no bathtub in the standard room, but the stand-up glass-sliding-door showers are positively luxurious. I've found myself taking as many showers as possible during my stays here :) There are dimmers on almost all the lights, which is a huge plus. There is a computer in every room that provides free Internet access to all guests, though the software on these machines is a bit slow and cumbersome. I've taken to joining the Kimpton InTouch program, which allows me to get free, unlimited wireless access on my laptop, but the computer is (obviously) a big plus if you don't have a laptop. the lorien is an upscale boutique hotel - small, with excellent service. the staff is excellent, the rooms are very very comfortable (great beds, pillows and linens) - nice size, free wifi - quiet luxury.

Service was great, room was very nice and clean. I am allergic to down/feathers. They were removed as requested. I would definately stay here again and highly recommend this hotel.

It was delightful after driv1ng 5 hours to be welcomed the way were. A nice touch of ending a vacation.

The staff was great. More than accommodating. The location is ok. Well, I should clarify: the location is probably perfect if you want to go into DC because it is very close to the King Street metro stop. It's a bit removed from the main part of Old Town Alexandria. The bed was very comfortable. We had a suite, and the living area was small and awkwardly […] shaped. The front desk staff was capable, helpful, make getting in and out of the hotel a breeze. The wine event in the evening was memorable for different reasons. The quality of the red wine being served was minimal but better than the quality of the service. After serving one of our party the person began chatting wtih what appeared to be another hospitality […] staff, then promptly served her a glass of wine before turnign back to complete serving our second person in an indifferent manner. Thought it would be a nice break before dressing for dinner- but imy recommendation is f you stay here skip the lobby event!!! Mehr

We were familar with the hotel as we had lived in Alexandria and so we were very interested in staying there, particularly because it is so close to the King St. Metro stop and right in Old Town Alexandria. The hotel is lovely and the room was very nice although the first night we didn't have hand towels and the second day we had hand towels but no […] washclothes but on the third day they got it right. Also, we did not look at our bill very carefully and later saw that we were charged for a bag of M&Ms which we did not have but by that time it was too late we were on the way to the airport, so guests should carefully review their bill before signing it. Part of the reason we did not look at it very closely is that we had already paid the bill and all we thought we were being charged for was valet service so we did expect some charges just not for the M&Ms. Otherwise, we thought the hotel was great, would stay there again and would recommend it to our friends. I had family in town that wanted to see sights in the DC and Arlington area. Instead of having them at the house in S. Md. I put them up in this hotel which turned out to be fantastic. It's convenient to metro if you want to take that, or just drive up and let them valet park your car. My family loved it and I stayed a night as well. The restaurant […] Brabo that is attached is great and the staff were very friendly and accommodating even though we ended up staying past closing; they did not rush us. Also loved the complimentary wine hour in the evening; my glass was never empty. Mehr

Great location with impecable service. Close to shops and great restaurants

The sliding glass door to bathroom is cool, and allows wide opening which is nice. However, all noise in the bathroom can be heard outside in the guest room. A little embarrassing.
