Zustand der Zimmer sehr abgewohnt, ganz große Kalkflecken im Bad- und Duschbereich. Mangelhafte Reinigung schon beim Bezug des Zimmers. Barpersonal schlecht geschult. Lage des Hotels an einer stark befahrenen Hauptstraße, auch nachts.

Wer hier ein Designhotel erwartet wird bitter entäuscht. Ungepflegte, dreckige Zimmer. Überall sind Flecken von ausschweifenden Nächten zu finden. Einfach wiederlich. Hier fühlen sich nur Leute wohl die mal in einem Pornoambiente nächtigen wollen. Das gesamte Hotel hat durch die schwarzen Wände eine Darkroomatmosphäre. Auch das Frühstück ließ zu wünschen […] übrig. Vertrocknete Wurst und Käseplatten. Wir sind einen Tag früher abgereist da wir ein kultiviertes Ambiente für Homosexuelle Menschen erwartet haben aber leider feststellen mußten das dieses Hotel nur auf eine Sache ausgelegt ist! Mehr

Alles super, aber da es sich der schwulenszene verschrieben hat, eben überall Schwule und im Spa bereich nur nackte Männer. Also wer nicht will, dass seine Frau nackte Männer sieht, sollte nicht in den Spa-Bereich mit ihr. Ansonsten ist alles super, das Hotel ist sauber, stylisches Zimmer aber etwas klein, jedoch kein Problem. Nur zu empfehlen!

Hier hat sich mal jemand richtig Gedanken gemacht, wie ein Großstadthotel für die Zielgruppe aussehen sollte. Das ist gelungen. Aber leider hat man das Gefühl, hier wird nur unzureichend oepflegt und geputzt. Im Zimmer riecht es stark pilzig-wie in einer schlecht gepflegten Sauna. Anfrage an der Reception nach anderem Zimmer wird wenig freundlich bearbeitet. […] Anders Zimmer angeblich nicht zur Verfügung. Insbesondere im Bad sind Armaturen und die zahlreichen Glaselemente stark verkalkt. Wasserspuren auf den dunklen Objekten im Bad. Der Eindruck setzt sich fort, im sehr schönen, über den Dächern von Berlin gelegenen Spa des Hotels. Unsauber, defekte Armaturen, alles verkalkt, pilziger Geruch-kurz ungepflegt. Frühstück-Preis /Angebot akzeptabel. Service im Grenzbereich zwischen unfreundlich und Ignorant. Schade, schade!!! Denn wie gesagt-schönes Haus-tolle Lage...aber man hat den Eindruck inkompetente Leitung...zu wenig Kontrolle und Anleitung des Personals...Resümee -zu teuer, um sich mit solchen Ärgerlichkeiten den Aufenthalt vermiesen zu lassen. Das Hotelzimmer war klein und eng und wie der Rest des Hotels in schwarz gehalten. Athomsphäre war etwas seltsam. Das Spa war nicht gereinigt und im Gegensatz zum Eindruck auf der Website äußerst klein geraten. Die Lage aber war top. Direkt hinter dem Hotel beginnt der schwule Kiez von Schöneberg.

I had a difficult jet-lagged first night at Hotel Axel in a room where the walls were very thin and my noisy neighbor was up all night. I spoke with the front desk the next morning and they switched my room to a slightly larger, more comfortable, and much quieter room. The smaller rooms here are very small, just enough room for a bed and shower. I recommend […] spending a little more money for a larger room or taking one of the suites at the corner of the hotel. The spa was clean and nice and although the hot tub was barely lukewarm, you can sit outside and take in Berlin from it. The clientel was very international and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The surrounding neighborhood is similar to the Castro in San Francisco with a central U-Bahn station a block and a half away. Mehr

Axel Hotel gives a very good quality of service and cleanliness. The staff are friendly and helpful. It is ideally located for shopping such as KaDeWe, Peek & Cloppenburg. Two minutes from U Bahn (Wittenbergplatz). Stayed there twice. Enjoyed both occassions.

Me and my girlfriend booked a short trip to Berlin and booked the Axel based on price and location and pics/standard of hotel. We were not disappointed in any way on the above. We didnt notice until we googled the hotel that its Berlins premire gay boutique hotel. We are a couple in 30s and not an issue to us but it may be for others. Really luxurious but friendly with it!

Very good location, comfortable room and good facilities.Only one problem - our room was not cleaned one day despite the 'Please Clean my room' tag being left on the door handle - seemed to be a problem with the entire floor because we noticed several rooms in the corridor still had their 'Please Clean room' tags out when we returned to the hotel that […] evening. Thereafter we made it a point to remind reception of the problem and there was no repeat of the incident. Also would suggest to management that it would be good to have a kettle for tea/coffee in the rooms. Otherwise it was a pleasant stay. Mehr

The hotel is great - particularly the 2 guys on reception who were excellent (which is more than can be said for my last visit - but fortunately we didn't see the lady in question at all during our stay this year!). We had a problem with some noisy a/c - and were immediately offered a room change (and upgrade) which was a great help. Fantastic location […] too - 3 mins walk from KaDeWe. Mehr

Nice hotel, good service. Expect wifi didn't work to well

I found the Staff to be very nice and would rec staying there. I enjoyed my time in Berlin at this hotel.

Axel is comfortable, practical and stylish, yet not pretentious. Staff is efficient, friendly and accomodating. Nice cafe/bar and great location... in terms of neighborhood, but also subway. The wifi is free in rooms and the jacuzzi bathtub was very comfortable in the room.

Great value for mid week. Plush room, small but well formed. Nice jet tub. Good bed and curtains kept out light so slept brilliantly. Wifi worked fine in room on 5th floor. Only for the brave hetero I think - lots of cruisey older guys around. Would stay again mid week but too pricey for my liking at full summer rates, would spend my money going out […] at More for example. Mehr

we stayed for 4 nites and loved it. a great hotel and great location. the front desk people all spoke English, and were very helpful!!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Axel Hotel. The staff is courteous, professional, warm, and extremely responsive and helpful. The overall atmosphere is contemporary yet inviting, and the "feeling" is upbeat, open, and relaxing. This was our fourth stay. Rooms are quiet, comfortable, and climate-controlled. The staff was great, the hotel was in a central location, and I LOVED our room. But this is a gay men's hotel. If you're not male, don't expect open arms from the majority of the cliental.But I would stay here again.

It is not exactly a gay hotel perse, but indeed very gay friendly and cater to a mostly gay client base. The hotel itself is chic and nicely designed. The location is great, aside from just next to Berlin's gay ghetto, it is also very close to Berlin's most famous department store - KaDeWe.

our room was very comfortable, especially the bed! I was surprised to find we had a (very small) balcony with space for two chairs, but as i wasn't expecting it, it was a nice surprise. the bathroom facility's were a little crammed in, but of a very high standard, the shower particularly was very large and enjoyable. Excellent and in convenient gay location and easy to get to by Metro or Bus. Great service from friendly and helpful staff. BEST deal is for a inexpensive Hop on Hop off bus ticket from front desk. Valid for two days for a narrated bus tour in 16 languages, stopping at ALL the sites you want to see in Berlin. Stay on or get off at any point and hop […] back on when done. Bus starts near the hotel. I will use this hotel each time in Berlin as the location is right in the middle of one of Berlin's admired Gay district with all the venues you would want to visit. Mehr

The hotel is in a great location and very easy to find using the train services. The hotel itself was very really good. Very polite service at reception (Chris) and very clean throghout. rooms again very clean and maid service kept the standards up. rooms were very well stocked with everything you require for a relaxed stay. When we booked we did not […] realise this is a gay hotel and has a gay/camp feel throughout, this was not made very visable when we booked. However saying that we had no problems with it being gay. I expected the hotel to be in a much more desirable location, however it was far from much of the action. It is certainly a gay hotel, but closer to the older gay neighborhood and a lot of bath houses, leather bars and other bars frequented by an older crowd. The employees are very friendly. The hotel has its charm, there is a lot of black colors begin used. The might dust better, serious, there was a layer of dust.. One bathrobe in a two-persons room is a bit less. Great sauna and steam room, keep up and blind the windows so that the neighbors do not look in. Free use of internet on two computers. I would highly recommend this hotel. Not only is it conveniently located to many restaurants, the metro and places to go but the staff are extremely helpful. This is my first time in Germany and Berlin and they made sure I was informed of how to use the metro and places to go and eat etc. Plus it has so much more to offer. The Axel Hotel advertises itself as Heterofriendly. This is a gay hotel, through and through. And given its location, it's in the perfect spot. It's right in the heart of Berlin's Schoeneberg neighborhood. The rooms are contemporary and very comfortable. The staff was exceptional. All what you nead for short stay

a very stylishly decorated place, we enjoyed that very much. nice helpful staff. free internet- very important! the neighbourhood is central and safe. but at evenings (after 22:00) there is nothing to do. our room was very comfy, the bed was great. the shower was excellent apart for two annoyances- every minute or so the water turned really hot or […] really cold for a second. also there was a leak from the shower to the hallway of our room. overall a great experience!! we recommend it dearly. Compared to the Buenos AIres Axel, this place is is ae people a has been. If the price is right, stay. I would stay ere again for a good rate. I somehow think a star fell off of the wall somewhere along the way and it is no where near a four star hotel. Basic and comfortable, but no services. Th front desk clerks (and I mean each one of three, there […] is usually only one) seem like they should work at the Motor Vehicles Department. They don;t look at you when they talk, they are unfriendly, and seem bothered. I should say there was one exception, who was friendly. At one point in the early morning, I called down to leave a wake up call and no one ansered the phone after severl tries spread out over 15 minutes. I had to go down to the lobby and wait for the busy clerk to show up. NOT GOOD> Rooms are small yet sufficeint... towels are freyed and the ads are better than the place itself. DO not expect the same quality as the BA property...or the same attitudes. This is more of a motel, than a hotel... in the US sense. Mehr

Great full-service hotel, centrally located to one of the gay districts in Berlin. Decor was very modern and chic, if perhaps a bit too black. But I was upgraded to a suite upon arrival and it was the best hotel experience I've had. Whirlpool tub AND a separate shower with rainwater faucets. To begin, this hotel is "Hetero-Friendly" and they advertise that with the shirts they wear. If you have a problem with gay people, it's best to look elsewhere. The hotel rooms are nice and large by European standards. The shower is nice, they use Villeroy and Boch sinks, Bang & Olufsen phones. Everything is in black, and the counter top for the bathroom […] sink had been damaged upon installation or by another customer. The screws had started coming up through the bottom. It didn't bother me, just something I noticed. The BIGGEST complaint that I have is the fact that they charge 9 Euro for internet services. This is HORRIBLE and the first that I've come across in Europe. I'm sure there are other hotels that charge, but I happened to stay at this one and I think it's ridiculous! That's the only hit that I would give this hotel. Other than that, things are good for a solo traveler or a couple. One note...if you're traveling with friends, this may not be the place. Staff was very helpful. Rooms are styled well but small. My only improvement is that Wi Fi should be complimentary. the service was too slow to pay the fee requested.

The location in the gay neighborhood was great! Lots of fun in the local bars and clubs literally next door. Spa was "ok" - jacuzzi was cold and steam room wasn't really working... shower was large enough for 4 people! but bathroom area is small and not very private. We loved the Axel Hotel! The location is perfect. The front desk staff is both extremely friendly and very helpful -- they know the ins and outs of navigating the city, how to find the best restaurants, and where the best nightlife it. The room was a bit small, and the bathroom presents "challenges" for those sharing a room with other than a signifiant […] other, but these are small prices to pay. It has been noted before, but I will repeat it. Hotel Axel is a lovely "heterofriendly" property in the western center of Berlin. Perfect location, nice, attentive staff. And I personally found the red glass wall looking into the shower to be quite sexy. Yes a small room, but not uncommonly so. When I say it needs a bit more function, I mean like hooks […] for hanging bathrobes, and perhapes a few more hangers. All of that said, I would definitely stay there again. Mehr

With the perfect location for anyone,and even better if you are gay, we loved our stay at the Axel. We were a short walk from shopping at the famous KaDaWe department store and the Metro. The room was comfortable and sexy (ask to overlook the garden area). Great lenins and a sexy bathroom shower area. Front desk staff were alll charming and helpful. […] Drinks at the bar were relaxed and enjoyable. Great food just a block away (Des Artists) and the Axel even hosted an event wiht great food on the patio. We would go back again and again. Location , location, location is the best. Mehr

Housekeeping was awful. They do not dust or change linens.

It started crap and didnt get better. I booked a Junior Suite and the young reception staff didnt believe me even though i had the booking. The hotel i s very over priced some staff were ok but in general got more help from people walking past the hotel. The so called suite was very small and over priced the finish is in black to hide the poor finish […] and bad design. In short it is over priced small rooms no atmosphere and poor staff. Mehr

The reason I had booked this hotel was the fact that it was a Gay new Hotel with a great reputation. I booked a superior room with King size bed for my partner and I for reason I don't think I need to go into. On entering the room it was two singles pushed together. Was told couldn't change as was fully booked. I personally don't think that was true […] as the hotel was quiet no one around in the bar/lounge area or in the restaurant. So the short break was ruined for that reason. I also have to say that there was no tea or coffee facilities in the room. Again unusual for a 4 star hotel and the only other thing that was the fact that the room had very little storage for clothes and ended up leaving most of it in the overnight bag. Otherwise very nice to look at and be in just a shame about the room. Mehr

Topp opphold. Vennlig betjening, som var hjelpsomme når jeg hadde spørsmål. Nærhet til U-bahn, buss og annen kommunikasjon. Toppetasjens utendørs boblebad, gav en annerledes utsikt over bydelen på kveldstid. Romløsningen var spennende, og syntes ikke det var negativt med glassflater inn mot badet. Ikke bråk om natten der jeg bodde, og grei tilgang til […] trådløst internett. Prismessig noe i øvre skikt for Berlin, men kjekt å ha fått Axel med som en hotellerfaring. Kommer gjerne igjen. I det hele et hotell jeg vil anbefale, spesielt for mennesker som trives i lag med homofile. Mehr
