Sipermann - Amsterdam

The hotel was quite poor for the money. The rooms were very, VERY small, but clean. The services were not up to much, although WiFI was free, but a strong, almost offensive smell of Indian food in the reception. Reception was not manned, and service was very slow. I waited 15 minutes to be let in when I first arrived. There is no provision for breakfast. […] The only reason I stayed here was because I could not get another hotel during IBC week. I would not stay there again and would not reccomend it to anyone. If you cannot get anywhere else and you don't mind eating out all of the time and happy to just have a bed, then I suppose it is ok. Upon arrival to (what we thought to be) our hotel, we were led several blocks to a shared apartment with a shared bathroom - not what we expected. The room reeked of smoke but we were hesitant to say anything seeing as it was Amsterdam and although we had preferred a non-smoking room, it wasn't guaranteed. However, after returning that night from some […] sight-seeing, we turned our shredded leather couch around to face the window (our only saving grace from the smoke infested apartment) only to find smoking paraphernalia, cigarettes, old food, gambling die, and bottle caps underneath. We then investigated the rest of the room and found old groceries in the cabinets and refrigerator (including a beer that expired over 6 months ago). When have pictures to prove it all. In addition to the filth, the TV didn't work. There were also appliances in the apartment (that we would have loved to use) that were broken and thus unusable. One such appliance that we would have enjoyed using (if it worked) was the washer - since we had to clean all of our clothes before we left the city - in fact everything we brought with us still carries the stench of our "apartment" stay. Worst of all, when we voiced our concerns to the hotel manager, he literally laughed at us at the mere suggestion of a refund. He did change our room for the last two nights (to something cleaner, yet much, much smaller), but told us that he would do nothing about the money we already wasted on our first two nights. It's a joke how expensive our dirty apartment was. We were unhappy with this stay, and when we return to Amsterdam next year, we will be sure to steer clear of Hotel Sipermann, and urge you to do so as well. Mehr

The room vas smaller than a shoe box, and the hotel demanded payment in advance. They added an additional credit card fee of 6%, and a "city tax" of 5%. This was not part of the deal with Hotels.com Really not a good experience

One person room was very small but i got what i ordered. In a five night stay two last i was in a double room with same price, that was a nice bonus. Service in hotel was very nice for 2 star hotel. Staff was also very friendly. Location was great because it is next to Vondelpark and near to Leidesplein where are lots of restaurants and shops. From […] there you can easily go with tram all over town. Although i recommend to walk or rent a bike. Mehr

The hotel, in general, is fine. The room was very very small, but it was good. It's very close of lots of bars, pubs and restaurantes, there is a beautifull park behind the hotel and also a good supermarket. You can go to Van Gogh museum in 5 minutes walk. For the night life, it's perfect, just 5 minutes walking and you have lots of options for fun […] !! Mehr

I stayed at Siperman hotel for 3 nights, at a very cheap price, considering it´s Amsterdam! Our room and bathroom were tiny but clean. The beds are very small (60 cm), so no good for big people! The hotel is in a beautifull street, 2 min away from Vondelpark and 5 min from Leidseplein. It´s quite calm. People are allowed to smoke inside de rooms, not […] on the corridors. No breakfast included. As a conclusion, you get what you pay for, a clean place close to everything, where you can crash after walking around the whole day!. Mehr

Estuvimos en el hotel desde el dia 20 al 24 de abril de 2011 y nunca me habia sentido tan timada. La habitación era un desastre, unos muebles totalmente desastrosos, el baño no tenia luz, ni un lugar donde apoyar una simple toalla ni una cortina ni mampara de baño asi que al ducharte todo el baño se llenaba de aguda, y en el techo habia goteras por […] lo que cada mañana, cuando el ocupante del psio de arriba se duchaba, el agua caía en nuestra habitación, teniamos que poner la papelera para recoger el agua, y auqnue la persona que limpiaba la habítación vio lo que pasaba nadie del hotel dijo ni hizo nada. Adema.s si vais tener cuidado porque el dueño os intentara cobrar por todo, a nosotrso primero nos dijo que el desayuno valia 15 euros, luego lo rebajo a 7 euros y al final nos dijo que nos lo dejaba gratis, pero que a nadie se le ocurra pagar por el desayuno, no es mas que pan y una loncha de jamos y queso, hay mil bares cerca estupendos, y al final nos pidio 5 euros a cada uno por guardar la smaletas el dia de nuestra salida. Le dijimos que de que iba, despues del desastre y no nos cobro nada pero lo intento y a la llegada casi nos mandan a la calle con una maleta porque no tenain sitio para guardarla, pusimos el gritoe n el cielo y al final la guardaron. En serio, pagar lo que pagamos nosotros por una habitación doble, es un robo y nunca volvere a este hotel ni se lo recomendare a nadie. Mehr

Good location next to Vondelpark and in a walking distance from the center. Nice, polite staff. Good simple hotel if you are not looking for anything too fancy. Housekeeping was also good and the room was clean. Only minus was that there was no elevator and the stairs were quite narrow so it was a bit difficult to carry luggage to the third floor.
