Villa La Principessa - Lucca

My wife and I stayed for a week and would highly recommend the Villa La Principessa. The staff were fantastic and the grounds where beautifully maintained.

Villa La Principessa was the first of 3 hotels we stayed in over a 10 day period which covered Lucca, Spello and Rome, we stayed here 4 nights. I have to say that this was by far the best of the 3 hotels (and also the best hotel we have stayed in, over the years traveling around Italy). It's set in it's own beautiful grounds with gardens and a swimming […] pool. It's just a few km from the walled city of Lucca so some means of transport is required in order to visit the city. It's a perfect location for a relaxing break or as a center in order to explore the surrounding areas, Pizza is only 30 mins drive away, a number of seaside towns a bit further and then the Tuscan countryside all around. The room we had was very large consisting of a big bathroom with bath, shower, twin sinks etc., main bedroom with large double bed and big windows and a separate lounge area with 2 armchairs, writing table, large window and a small hallway. It was magical to be able to open these large windows and sit listening to the birds singing from early morning while looking out at the surrounding countryside. The decor and artwork I felt suited the hotel and it is used by local and national artists to display their work. There are a number of rooms on ground level where you can sit and relax while reading or just chatting with others. The swimming pool area is just perfect with nice comfortable sun beds and surrounded by well maintained gardens displaying beautiful roses and flowers. Breakfast was another charm to look forward to with beautifully set out tables and food to match. If you want a nice break from the usual plain hotel this is the place to go to. All in all a wonderful place to stay and one that will be top of my list for any return journeys to this area. Mehr

Vi var imponert over servicen på hotellet. Fra første stund følte vi oss veldig godt ivaretatt.Hotellet hadde grei beliggenhet utenfor Lucca, og vi var veldig godt fornøyd med vårt superiorrom. Fredelig og fint bassengområde.

Being a familiy of four we had two standard rooms on the top floor during a weekend. Although a bit flashy decor, the rooms were very satisfying. They were old, but beds comfortable and everything tidy. The bathrooms were a bit small, but well equipped and clean. If the superior rooms had been available they would have added to our experience of staying […] in such an old villa. The common rooms on the ground floor were old and beautiful. So was the garden and the swimming pool area, which were like a small oasis. The restaurant served very good food both for breakfast, lunch in the garden and for dinner. Probably the best were the friendliness and service from the staff. Always ready to assist. Finally the location close to Lucca was also convenient. Mehr

Hotel très viellissant.. les pièces de reception sont très belles... Dommage... que le chambres soient si..viellottes, salle de bain minuscule et mal entretenue..avec papier peint complemetement décollé..et douche cabine délabrée... Vite, il faut que l'établissement se rénove ..s'il veut prétendre à un 4 étoiles. Petit déjeuner.. correct.... sans plus Accès […] internet payant.!!!! je ne recommande pas à ce prix..!!! Mehr
