Overall, we had a great stay. This is a cool, stylish hotel. I cant comment on the facilities as we didnt use them, but in general, all staff members were friendly and helpful, and everything worked as it should. A couple of small negatives - Hotels.com website said the hotel served a complimentary breakfast to all guests. This is not true, so beware […] when booking. There is a Costa in the building next door, but it is closed at the weekend. Also, we were looking directly onto a building site, not a great 'city' view in my mind. The location is convenient, as metro lines 2 and 7 are just a few steps away, and many shops and restaurants are within easy walking distance. Would happily stay there again. Mehr

I loved everything about my stay here. Free minibar, bowl of apples, beautiful pool and jacuzzi, so modern and well designed, high quality customer service, good location right above a subway stop. I hope I have the opportunity to stay here again, I am in love with this hotel.

Stayed at the Puli several times as a corporate traveller. It is an expensive exercise considering the price of the food as they are super expensive and also the food is very average and do not do justice for the price charged. The hotel staff do not clean your room if you leave the "Do not Disturb"button on accidentally, which is frustrating when […] you return from work and find the room not made. luxury hotel, had a wonderful stay there with my girlfriend

I might not be traveling as much as business travelers but I travel enough and stayed in world known 5 stars hotels and boutique hotels for more than enough times to make the following comments:- Pros: 1. Very good location, close to everywhere in Jing'an District within walking distance 2. Nice interior decorations 3. Nice swimming pool, we went swimming […] like we're having a private pool for ourselves (go to Cons for the fabrication of floor tiles) 4. Superb brunch with better services from staff (in suits) there (go to Cons for the service level by other general staff, which is the worst experience from a 5-star hotel) 5. Complimentary use of minibar with nespresso machine, which is nice as I love having coffees Cons: 1. Very slippery floor tiles chosen around the swimming pool, we have to walk VERY carefully to avoid falling onto the floor. Further improvement on fabric selection is required. 2. POOR SERVICES/ ATTITUDES - a. Staff from Long Bar/ Home Delivery/ Duty Manager, we were told that it closes at 1am and we asked if we can order from our room and get our drinks/desserts delivered. We tried to order our second round of drinks at 12:35am and the staff from Long Bar told us their last order time is 12:30am, which we were not told beforehand nor it was stated on their menu. The staff from Long Bar told us to call Home Delivery. The home delivery staff told us there's nothing they can do (which I think this kind of service is unacceptable from a high-end hotel). I called the duty manager and he later gave us the drinks and again, his explanation is not soothing and his apology wasn't sincere. We started to wonder, what kind of training does this hotel give to its staff?? b. Housekeeping staff - we stayed in PuLi on both Friday and Saturday night. On Saturday morning 10am, a housekeeping staff rang our door bell and asked if she could tidy our room (I was like WHAT?!?! Woody furnishings and flooring are lovley. 2 cupboards, one for hanging long clothes, the other for shorter stuff and drawers. 2 washing sinks, one on the bathtub side, the other on the shower room side. Wonderful combination of understated modern and traditional Chinese elegance and style. Friendly professional service; rooms are comfortable and relaxing retreats from the bustle of Shanghai. Great attention to detail at every level and minimum of commercialism--minibar and many extras are free.

The Puli is a great hotel for Shanghai. The rooms are modern, well designed and very large. The automatic blackout curtains are great too. Service is fast and friendly. We stayed two nights at the PuLi in October, it is very convenient location since it's near line 2 and line 7 of the subway. We found out that there's an entrance nearby if you head right after you exit the hotel to line 7 (which you can then use to walk to line 2). The best hotel slippers I've ever had at a hotel. I stayed for business from 10/12/11 thru 10/18/11. From the check-in process to the check-out process, the service at this hotel topped all of my expectations. Stayed for one night. Excellent location, 5 mins walk to Metro Lines #2 and #7; close to malls with food court and next to Jing-An Garden. Staff enthused to help with good command of English. They put me into the hotel room facing a construction site and I requested to changed the room. The first answer is "sure" with extra 400RMB + 15% instead of checking the why we want to change the room. Then, I sign the drinks bill to my room and they mis-read it from 710 to 1710. I correct them that my room # is 710, few minutes later, they insisted […] to see my room card. This is a terrible feeling for me. Then, they insisted my room rate is not included 1 breakfast which is clearly showed on the booking receipt. They simply ignored it and insisted us to pay for it. great hotel, good contemporary design but need better services and efficient people where it help to get things done for your schedule of the day.

The hotel is very close to JingAn Temple subway station and airport shuttle bus terminal to Pudong and Hongqiao airports. I arrived at the hotel at 8am and they were nice to allow me for an early checkin, stayed for 3 nights, also subsequently a late checkout at 2pm. The room was very spacious, & best of all the mini-bar is on the house! Coffee, tea, […] milk, juices, beer, sodas... They are re-filled once a day. Just a little disappointed that no one from the hotel guided me on the room facilities. I thought the coat room was the wardrobe! Beautifully appointed with spacious rooms and every comfort you need. One nice touch was the free mini bar. I can't find anything wrong with this hotel and I am usually quite quick on criticism! The design of the whole hotel, down to the smallest of details is simply beautiful and as in any successful design, it is also highly functional. What a great way to unwind after a very hectic and some times long work days.... As soon as you wal in through the lobby... you feel 20 lbs lighter..... Great gym hours, beautiful pool and spa.. will stay again and again

I still like this hotel a lot, though it is showing its age. There was some fairly obvious mildew in the corner of the shower and the Nespresso machine was inoperable. Service is still not great. I had gotten used to this, but it manifested itself in a bunch of different ways during this stay. 1) Check in is way too slow (and I saw other guests visibly […] annoyed at the long check out time). Two people behind the front desk just doesn't cut it for a hotel this size. 2) My room was not ready when I checked in. I wanted to put my things in the room so that I could go to some meetings while they cleaned it, which was eventually arranged, but not easily. 3) I went to the spa/pool (which is really nice) and someone (one of the attendants?) took my slippers away. When I was ready to leave, I went to the front desk of the spa to ask for a new pair of slippers and there was no one to be found, so I had to walk barefoot back to the room (no big deal, but five star?). 4) A recurring problem... The breakfast. It is good, but it is too hard to get service. You really should be able to get in and out in about 30 min, but it takes a long time to get someone's attention and get your order in, get coffee refilled, etc. I have complained about this before, but they still haven't gotten it together. As a result, I didn't get much breakfast before heading to my meetings. So why did I rate this 4/5? 1) I'm used to the neighborhood and the location is convenient for me. 2) I like the design and general setup of the room 3) the pool is nice 4) I tend to like quirky hotels (so I give them more of a pass on the inept service) I will probably stay there again, but the deterioration of the room hardware is certainly a concern. I should have probably pointed these things out when I was there, but didn't have time just then. Mehr

This was my second stay at the hotel and surely won't be my last. I would highly recommend this hotel as they always seem to over deliver on the service. Staff was courteous and helpful for any inquiry. They were able to accomodate a late check out with no fuss.

Overall excellent experience - very good design, high quality materials, high comfort of the rooms - large rooms with everything you need, great bath / shower facility, complimentary minibar, technology kit to plug in your pc/mac to the speakers/tv etc. Highly recommended.

Beautiful hotel, but concierge service lacking. Often the concierge was not available and though the front desk tried to to be helpful. Location is great, right at a subway. Room is modern and very well appointed, and very comfy bed, great dark out blinds, great view. But decoarative screen in room is dusty and bathroom floor not properly cleaned. I have stayed in four seasons hong kong and marina sands in Singapore which ranked higher than this hotel, and I would say The Puli gives them a run for there money. It is one sexy hotel and a top notch hotel deserving at least 4 + stars It reminded me of the legion in Bali, and a turns out it is the same architect. I was really looking forward to staying at the Puli as it had excellent reviews. While it is expensive, I managed to get a good deal on it which is fortunate, b/c if I had paid anywhere near usual rates I would have been REALLY upset. First off, the service was not top notch. We were shown our room and then asked "you don't want me to go over everything […] right?" and promptly left. The doormen also never opened the door! Normally, yes, I can open my own doors, but this hotel does have a a rather heavy front door and I was surprised that in the 4 days we stayed, it was only opened ONCE for us (ie they do have someone to do it, he just doesn't) Having just come from spending 2 nights at the Peace Hotel where the service was superb, this came as a surprise, especially since the 2 hotels are about the same price point. I was also disappointed with the concierge who basically looked up on his laptop whatever I asked him. To be fair, he was the best concierge of the 3 hotels we stayed at. As far as the rooms, they were comfortable and the black out blinds are a great feature for anyone that requires it. Half the rooms face a construction site and the other half overlook the park. We got the construction site but the noise was not unreasonable. We had a few problems with the room. The door handle came off in the toilet cubicle. It appeared to have been glued on previously and after notifying management, it was glued on again. The bathroom ceiling was dripping water one day, I had noticed the water stain previously. They didn't fix this but it only happened the one day. The shower stall had a cracked floor tile and mold in the corners so I cannot recommend the cleanliness of the room. Since this hotel is only 18 months old, I fear the rooms probably will get worse. The bed was comfortable enough for me (I'm not very picky) but my partner did not find it as comfortable as the Peace Hotel beds. Puli is within 5mins walk to Jing An temple and around there are some shopping malls and restaurants. Most restaurants close at 10pm so you have to take a cab ride to go further out for supper. Hotel itself is beautiful! Its only a year old, beautiful decor, very clean, and staff are very helpful. My husband and i stayed for 5 nights. The concierge […] helped us to get tickets to a concert at the Expo and tickets for bullet train rides to HangZhou, saves us the hassle of having to go around if we had to do it ourselves. From the instant I arrived at the Puli I felt I was home. A safe haven from the hustle and bustle of Shanghai. The management staff was attentive, friendly and helpful. The hotel is stunning, with dim lighting and attention to detail. The long bar is ideal for eating alone and working. People watching is also great fun! Coming back for more.

Det här var ett superbra hotell som motsvarade alla högt ställda förväntningar. Det enda som skulle kunna göras bättre är frukosten, som saknar några saker som skulle finnas på ett västerländskt frukostbord (såsom pålägg och gott bröd), men i övrigt mycket bra!
