Es war schon erstaunlich, was in dem relativ kleinen Einzelzimmer alles äußerst zweckmäßig untergebracht war. Alles, was ein Tourist so braucht. Eine Woche war ich dort. Das Zimmer war sehr ruhig. Alles Technische hat funktioniert. Sogar die Rezeption ist immer besetzt. Die Anlegestelle für die Rundfahrtschiffe war in der Nähe und auch die U-Bahn. Die […] zentrale Lage war prima. Alle wichtigen Punkte waren schnell zu erreichen. Verpflegung gibt es im Hotel nicht. Nebenan gibt es Kaffees. kleine, aber sehr saubere un gemütliche Zimmer, freundlicher Service. Sehr ruhig, obwohl direkt an der 8th Ave gelegen. Werde auf jeden Fall dort wieder übernachten auf meiner nächsten Reise nach New York.

Zimmer klein, zweckmäßig und sauber. Ideal für Städtereise, Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis stimmt. In unmittelbarer Nähe Subway-Station, kleinere Geschäfte, Lokale, Frühstücksgelegenheiten.

Das Hotel liegt recht zentral. Zum Times Square kann man problemlos laufen (ca. 20 Minuten). U.-Bahn-Station um die Ecke. Das Hotelpersonal ist sehr nett und hilfsbereit.

Das GEM hat den Erwartungen vollends entsprochen. Die Zimmer sind sehr klein, aber modern und sauber. Der Service an der Rezeption ist freundlich und hilfsbereit. Die Lage des Hotels ist ideal, einen Block entfernt fährt die Subway mit der Linie A, C und E, man ist schnell überall in New York. Rund um das Hotel befinden sich zahlreiche Delis und Restaurants, […] die angesagten Stadtteile Village und Meatpacking District sind sogar fußläufig zu erreichen. The GEM ist super gut gelegen, mitten in der Stadt und doch sehr ruhig. Eine schöne Wohngegend. Abends genügen Möglichkeiten zum Ausgehen. Unser Zimmer war toll, ein Kühlschrank hätte das Ganze abgerundet. Das Personal war immer freundlich. Wir haben das Hotel schon weiter empfohlen.

Hotelzimmer ist klein, aber komfortable und sehr sauber..Preis- und Leistungsverhältnis stimmt alleweile. Hotel ist sehr gut gelegen. Restaurants und Bars hat es genug. Mitarbeiter sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich. Ich würde nochmals im GEM einchecken.

Das Bett war viel zu klein für 2 Personen, die Heizung funktionierte nicht (auch nicht nach mehrmaligem melden bei Reception inkl. Trinkgeld) und der Safe war unbenutzbar (am 3. Tag benutzbar). Die Lage ist praktisch, gleich bei der Subway und Meatpacking district/Village sind zu Fuss erreichbar.

We stayed at the Gem during our honeymoon. The management had been out to buy us a small gift to welcome us - very sweet. The hotel manager left a card congratulating us on our wedding. The GEM is just that. It's located in a great little neighborhood, great restaurants, movies (Tribeca Film Festival), and fun bars! We hit up Pounds and Ounces and the Trailer Park to name a few. There was a street festival on the street all day Saturday, and that was great for shopping and some funny entertainment. The room is small, but who stays […] in the room anyway? It's a short walk to the High Line, Chelsea Market, and Madison Square Park. The roof top was a nice surprise. We brought our breakfast up there each morning away from the hustle and bustle. The location was great, near the subway and easy access, but the hotel was a little tired and the room was extraordinarily small and unconmfortable. Also, the common areas, such as they were, were bland and cheap looking. This was more of a low cost budget hotel , but the cost was more in the moderate range. Not a good value.

I'm glad I read the reviews about small rooms, as this helped alleviate what would have been a big surprise. Our room was 10ft by 10ft. Adequate, but a surprise if we hadn't known. Given the great location, neighborhood and convenience, the hotel and stay was great. I'd stay again.

I thought I'd stayed in small rooms before, but this one wins the prize. The view onto the elevator shaft didn't help. Not enough room for 1 chair -- just a bed and a tiny closet. The public spaces of the hotel are very nice, but the room --- ridiculous.

Have stayed here before and love it--- even though the rooms are small. That said, I have two areas of disappointment. First, they do not recycle in the rooms and that is upsetting. Secondly, I use this hotel for business, but they only give you one of those tiny floor iron boards and they are not able to be used to iron a blazer or a shirt (they are […] basically useless). For these prices, we should get a full-sized iron board and a good iron, or at least an iron room. Mehr

While the service and cleanliness of the hotel was top rate--the rooms were small by even NY CIty standers. Literally a 10 x 10 room with a queen. We had one foot on each side of the bed. Not even enough room for an extra chair. If I were traveling for business by myself--maybe--but traveling with a daughter for the week--it was very small.

The hotel was near a workshop I attended. The room was small, but clean and comfortable. The front desk staff were nice. Roman very kindly arranged a taxi for me. If I had a complaint, it would be that noise from the hallway was quite audible in the room, and the price I paide for one night was a bit high. But a good hotel overall. I would return.

This hotel was very well placed for all of our reservations and activities-- and was surprisingly modern. The room was much smaller than expected and the bed was pretty uncomfortable. Outside of that, it was a great stay. The service was great. Each day I was greeted by name when I passed the front desk. This was a genuinely nice stay.

The reviews of this hotel were very accurate - small, non-soundproof rooms, but cozy for a short-term stay. We did not spend a lot of time in the room but it had everything we needed for one night. Although we asked for a queen size bed which appeared to be a full size bed, it was clean and comfortable. There was some street noise but nothing worth […] complaining about--I think we were both too tired to even care about it. Great location! Lots of options for cute cafes, restaurants, frozen yogurt, and shops nearby. Would stay again and I recommend for a night or two. FYI, don't leave the bathroom door open while showering because the smoke detector is very sensitive to steam--we ended up setting off the fire alarm (which made for a very laughable trip). The staff was very understanding when this happened, and they were overall friendly and hospitable. Mehr

This has been my go to stay in midtown/edge of Chelsea for the last couple months. Its a no frills business traveler friendly hotel. Small rooms, decent to great accommodations, friendly efficient and professional staff make it easy to come back. I stayed in this hotel two day's and have no complaints. everyone at the hotel was super friendly and it's in a great location. Make sure you visit Murray's Bagel shop across the street, great food! Bed was comfy, room was clean, free wifi. thanks!

We had a great time enjoying the neighborhood which wasn't very touristy, but close enough to attractions by a nice walk or quick cab ride. We arrived early and we were lucky enough to be able to check in early since they had a room ready. All of the staff were very nice.

I'd stay back at the Gem in a heartbeat. The room was small, but modern and clean. The front desk service was incredibly helpful, friendly and made the stay more relaxing.. They really made you feel like you were "at home" -- something I've never felt at a hotel in my life.

We were very pleased with this hotel. Yes, the room was small, but clean and neat as a pin. Coffee maker in the room, comfortable bed, and lovely shower with quality soaps and shampoos. The staff were helpful and offered ideas for meals and things to do in the neighborhood. Enjoyed our stay.

I have stayed at the GEM in Chelsea several times. The rooms are small, but nice and the staff is very pleasant and helpful. The location is excellent - close to the major transportation hubs, but not right in the heart of the tourist district. Try to get an interior room. everybody was really nice and polite. rooms were nice too. only windows were old and did not hold back cold air. was a snowy windy night and heating had to work hard to compensate. staff brought additional blankets. replace your windows and you get full points!!

Love the Hotel. Once you get over the small rooms, which works great as a "Crash pad" in the city, the room is terrific, with modern fixtures, comfortable bed and upscale amenities. I was impressed by the friendliness of the staff as well!I'd stay there again, at the affordable rates that they have on occasion.

The staff were great, the service impeccable and the location was terrific. Only real complaint is the size of our room. There was perhaps 24" of space on my side of the bed and not much more on hers. We sat on the end of the bed and used the desk as our table. The only place to sit was the bed and my wife had to swing her legs onto the bed for me to […] walk to the bathroom.
