Novotel Cairo El Borg - Kairo

Habe 5 Tage im Novotel verbracht und war sehr zufrieden. Das Preisleistungsverhältnis war stimmig.Personal zuvorkommend. Zimmer geräumig und sauber. Gute Lage, nahe zu Downtown und in Laufdistanz zum Zentrum in Zamalek. Das Essen im Café, wo es arabische Tapas gibt ist zu empfehlen.

Schöner Blick auf den Nil, die Reinlichkeit der Zimmer entspricht allerdings bei Weitem nicht einem internationalen Standard was man bei einem Hotel dieser Kategorie erwarten könnte. Auf dem Flur zu den Zimmern stehen den ganzen Tag die halb leer gefutterten Teller rum. Viele Gäste essen gerne auf den Zimmern! Die Bar ist alkoholfrei, die meisten Besucher […] sind Araber, daher recht langweiliges Ambiente, während Ramadan kaum noch Service. Also ein Hotel, das in keiner Weise als 'International' zu bezeichnen wäre. Das Bild vom Swimmingpool auf der Internet Seite ist optisch gestretched, der 'Pool' ist eher eine größere Badewanne. Hotel was nice and comfortable, but sofa in the room was stained and air conditioner was not enough to cool the room. The room requires the key card to be used when you enter to turn on electricity (lights, television, etc.) and air conditioning. If you left for the day, you returned to a hot room and, again, the air conditioner was not sufficient to […] cool the room. In the evenings, however, it was nice to open the window and allow the cooler air inside. Unfortunately, the room only had a shower - a tub would have been a nice addition. Mehr

Had a great experience, front desk was awesome, Omar at reception upgrade my room and had a great view to the Nile river. Location it's good. But I couldn't find any nice restaurant or coffe shop around the area. Good experience!

Nice hotel with a great location on Zamalek island, close to bars, restaurants and downtown Cairo.

There was a foul smell (sewer gas?) that appeared to come from the air conditioner. I turned it off and opened the window. The air in Cairo is polluted, but it was better than the air in the room. I complained to the hotel, but they did nothing. There was only one worker who seemed to understand hotel service, but he was only there the first day. One […] day I was overcharged for breakfast, and another day they didn't want to let me sit in the non-smoking area of the restaurant--no reason was given. I paid for my meals every day and never signed the slips, but when I checked out, they wanted to charge me again anyway. I said, "show me signed slips and I'll pay." After digging in the file, he found the unsigned slips and didn't push it further. Unlike hotels in most of the world, asking the desk to order you a cab is pointless. They pointed to the tourist agency across the lobby, which only offered private cars for tours. No alcohol is served in this hotel as it is built over the Islamic Teachers' School. It is difficult to walk in the vicinity of the hotel, because Cairo doesn't really have sidewalks setup for walking--either they end suddenly, have a car parked across them, or there is a hole where the paving stones are missing. Most people walk in the street, which can be unnerving. Somebody called Zamalek the "Manhattan of Cairo." Don't believe it. It is just as dirty as the rest of Cairo, and the exclusive shopping street has an elevated freeway running down the middle of it. Mehr

Good location, just on the Nile. Downtown shopping and museums are just across the bridge or a short cab ride. Other areas too are just a 10 min cab ride (if there is no traffic which otherwise can also mean an hour!)

A very satisfactory hotel in close proximity to the Egyptian Museum, literally on the banks of the Nile - what more could you ask for?!

It's only a ten minute walk from Tahrir Square across the bridge to the Novotel El Borg, but it's like being in a different city entirely. The neighbourhood is relatively quiet and peaceful, filled with parks, but you won't find any restaurants or sidewalk cafes. There are carts selling water and cigarettes about a block north, and the metro station […] is practically across the street. The hotel is beautifully appointed, the air-con works spectacularly well, and the room was very comfortable. The swimming pool is great, but the hot tub is cold. Also on the down side: The rooftop hot tubs are only lukewarm, and there is something creepy about sitting in a jacuzzi in the middle of a restaurant where people are having a birthday party. There is no bar in the hotel (for alcoholic beverages) and the rooms on the west side are subjected to a lot of noise from the nightclub next door. Finally, since the rooms are located above an office building, the elevator ride to the lobby is long ... but at least the views are great. Mehr

I had a pleasant stay at this hotel - service re: the room was good but the staff at the front desk and travel agency could be more helpful. The room was very clean and rather spacious, could be a hotel room anywhere not necessarily in Egypt. Room facing the tower was pleasant. Good location, only 15-20 minutes' walk to the Egyptian Museum, and with the Cairo Tower right outside the window. Staff was friendly and the travel agent in the lobby proved to be very helpful. Food was not great, but five minutes walk along the Nile will bring you to Nile City, a docked boat with several ok-good restaurants. None serves alcohol, though, […] for that you can go to Sherlock Holmes, a British style pub in the Ramses Hilton (opposite of the museum). I recently stayed at the Novotel aong the Nile in Cairo and it was great...wonderful, helpful staff, great room overlooking the river, a close walk to Tahrir Sq., easy walk or cab ride to the Egyptian Museum and many other places. The pool isn't that large but is open around the clock so perfect for a late night swim. Cairo is so chaotic it's helpful […] to have a quiet, restful place to return to each day! Mehr

I enjoyed my stay at the Novotel Cairo El Borg, it was conveniently located, in a the nice leafy suburb of Zamelek. The hotel was well appointed and clean. I enjoyed the swimming pool and jacuzzi facilities. No reflection on the hotel, on a couple of occassions the taxi driver didn't know the location of the hotel

Hotel ok but not great, we had a special offer so perhaps this reflected the room allocated. It was clean and tidy and had all we needed but the bathroom shower wasn't well build and the floor flooded when showering. Pool area disappointing. Two small plung pools only. Don't use the taxi service at the hotel, they are expensive and do not offer correct […] information. You do not need to pre-book a taxi to the airport if you are leaving very early. There will be taxis at the hotel taxi rank in the morning. We were charged 4 times the regular rate to book a cab as we were advised there would be no cabs available for a 5am hotel departure. Very disappointing. Ok for a quick overnight stay at the start or end of a trip. Mehr

i have only one complaint about this hotel and that is of food sevice both on the roof to which we waited 50 minutes for a pizza and then 45 ninutes for room service , even for an order of ice cream how hard is that it doesn't have to be made !!!!!!! everything else is excellent .

My mom and I have just stayed at Novotel Cairo el Borg on january 2011 and we found it a lot more exclusive and modern than other Novotel´s. In fact, this hotel is a very comfortable and lovely hotel. The best of all is the neighborhood, near to everything, safe and nice surroundings...just steps away from the main and busiest bridge that connects Zamalek […] with the rest of the city. Just walk 3 blocks and you will be at Tahrir Square and the Egyptian Museum. Walk 2 or 3 blocks in the other direction and you will be at the entrance of Cairo Tower. Th two views from the hotel are nice, so don´t pay extra money to see the Nile, as the other one faces the Cairo Tower which is bright with lights from 19:00 to 12:00. The rooms are very clean and the beds have a nice smell everyday. The location of the bathroom´s door is a little bit inconvenient because of the toilet but no big deal. Tv´s are flat and modern, besides, they have a bright clock, very useful at night or for waking up (with all the drama because of the hour change). Breakfasts are absolutely delicious, many many many varieties of food and fruit, very assorted indeed. I strongly recommend this hotel, the price is very razonable and the value is excellent. Mehr

This is overall a very nice hotel with nice restaurants on site and in a good, conveniently located neighborshood. We could walk to some attractions and taxis were everywhere. The rooms were not the cleanest, mostly due to smoke of previous guests, and they do not have as many smoke-free rooms as you'd hope. Also, this hotel has the SLOWEST elevators […] in the middle east!! Being on the 7th floor, this became an annoyance. Trying to go down the stairs provides no relief - I ended up in the kitchen area! The hotel is centrally located and provides walking access to the restaurants on the Nile and the Egyptian Museum. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly.

We stayed at the hotel for 5 nights. Our room was very espacious and clean.The nile river view was a great bonus to our vacation.We ate in the restaurant several times,breakfast and dinner and I would like to recommended the bbq lamb. It was delicious. The location of the hotel is excellent and very close to the Egyptian Museum and the Opera.We also […] loved and enjoyed very much the rooftop terrace with the jacuzzi and the bar. The location of the hotel is really good, and it looks nice with a small swimming pool and good restaurant. But the staff working at the two restaurants was unfriendly and really slow. The hotel has two restaurants, one in the ground floor and one at the roof. We ordered breakfast at the roof resturant and it took more than 30 min before they even gave […] ous a meny and even longer before they took the ordering and gave ous the food. In all it took about 1,5 h to get the food... The restaurant in the ground floor had excelent food, but the the pepole working there was unfriendly and slow. We ordered breakfast at the room one day and the breakfast did not come to the ordered time and when it finally came it was not what we had ordered. They did not clean the room one of the days we stayed there. Mehr

The hotel was beautiful and modern. It is located in a really nice area of Cairo. The staff were amazing, nice, welcoming, and overall made our experience very enjoyable. The only thing to note is that this is a no-alcohol hotel. There is a bar, but it does not serve any alcohol.

The hotel is pretty central downtown very close to the Nile. Some rooms face the Nile. Pool is very small and no health club. Hotel does not serve alcohol. Good deal for the price.

Staff were very helpful and friendly, they try to accommodate need.

sparkling clean and comfortable, great ceasar salads and breakfast buffet....a welcome refuge after the noisy chaos of Cairo streets. Novotel is terrific, we stayed at the island and th airport ones. Checkin took forever they couldnt find our reservation but after that all went well.

Rigtig godt hotel lige ned til Nilen, og med kun et kort gåtur til centrum - Tahrir pladsen, nationalmuseet etc. Godt comfort på hotelværelset, hjælpsomt personale og en helt fantastisk tagbar, hvor man kunne nyde en kaffe eller drink. Prøvede ikke restauranten, for vil foreslå at man går ud og finder et mere autentisk spisested. Eneste minus var, at […] wifi ikke var gratis at benytte. Mehr

It's wonderfull to stay at Novotel Cairo El Borg to enjoy Cairo. Very comportable and have a good Nile view at moderate price and have a swimming pool also. It was grear to stay there.

I stayed at this hotel 5 nights with my boyfriend. The service was really good. The location is good, in the middle of everything. We enjoyed our stay, specially in the sunset at the roof of the hotel - you see the nile, the pyramids and Cairo downtown. We liked the jacuzzi on the roof, the food at the hotel, the service, the hotel was really clean, […] elegant and the staff was very helpfull. I would recomend this hotel! L’hôtel est relativement bien situé sur l’île de Gezira (très centrale). En revanche, le personnel est relativement peu efficace, le service est terriblement long et l'amabilité pas toujours au rendez-vous. Les chambres sont correctes mais la piscine très petite et peu ensoleillée.

The hotel is in a good location and the room was sufficient. I was in a city side room and there was traffic noise late at night. Overall, I would probably stay here again (in a nile view room) if I came back to Cairo.

Godt hotel med pæne smarte værelser. God service, dog var vi nødt til at ringe 3 gange til reception, før de kom med et dynebetræk, men det skyldtes vist, at de havde problemer at forstå, hvad "duvet cover" betyder - der var generelt lidt problemer med, at de ikke var så gode til engelsk, men ellers var alt fint, og vi fik endda en complimentary frugtsalat […] til vores frokost i restaurant, da vi ventede lidt på at få byttepenge tilbage...
