das Radisson in Durham liegt sehr zentral, d.h. in Fußgängerentfernung zu sämtlichen Sehenswürdigkeiten und dem Stadtzentrum und trotzdem sehr ruhig, d.h. ideal für eine Stadtbesichtigung von Durham. Die Zimmer sind groß, sauber und modern eingerichtet und das Personal ist ausnehmend freundlich.

Room done to a high standard, staff very competent as well as friendly. Good location.

The room was clean and with every amenity that we required plus a pleasant view across the river. The city of Durham and shopping centre is close but be prepared to climb the hill to the Cathedral. Whilst eating in the hotel is limited to one restaurant but there are numerous ones close by without climbing steps. I loved the Hotel, it was extremely clean and comfortable. I have 2 criticism's though. Firstly the tea tray in the room we stayed in, wasn't very user friendly. e.g. no socket for the kettle. The resturaunt was great but my Husband didn't appreciate the Chef's take on Ministrone Soup. Overall it was a great place to stay.

loved this hotel. busy but rightly so. difficult to park due to popularity and room delivered 2 hours late but complimentary bottle of wine waiting for us as a sorry. not a problem as we headed into the town for a liquid refreshement and a walk about. gym and sauna great, just get changed and head over the bridge into the town for a choice of resurants […] and bars. we'll be back next year.thanks to all the staff. if you want to worry about wifi connectivity etc, just stay at home cos you shouldnt be visiting a place like Durham Mehr

Great hotel with excellent service and comfort. Contemporary design with attention to detail. Choose business class for those little extras. Worth the extra cost including free bar for 2 hours, free parking, newspapers, breakfast and comfy dressing gowns. Ask for a room overlooking the river or you will get a view of the car park. Hotel facilities ok well equipped gym and spa though too much clorine. The restaurant however was very dissapointing. The Tuscan seafood stew was little more than fish and shellfish served up in a thin, tasteless brothe. The shellfish and the tuna were overcooked and chewy and the service was indifferent. Sefinitely not worth the prices being charged We […] were disturbed twice in the night around two and three by returning revellers. Mehr

The hotel was at a great location within 4 minutes walk to town centre/durham cathedral and approx 10 minutes walk to the rail station. Car parking is not free! £6.50 a day/night even though the hotel has a large private car park. The Radisson blu has great amenities, large pool, steam room, and sauna. There is also a small gym and spa. Our room was […] a standard room which had a shower and bath. The high speed internet was rubbish and didnt work most of the time. Even the computers in the business centre in the lobby had terrible internet access. The car parking and internet were the only bad things about what otherwise is a great hotel. The staffs friendly and helpful attidude made it a great stay. Would definately stay again. Mehr

Good hotel but not enough staff on reception, expensive breakfast that is not good value and despite booking a double room I was allocated a twin and told the hotel was full when I asked for a double room. Great location and very clean hotel.

Loved the whole experience!!

The hotel is sited on a quiet road on the riverside, the steady noise of the weir on the Wear is the main sound. It is about 10 minutes walk from the railway station (go down steps, follow signs to the passport office). Opposite the hotel is a footbridge to the town centre - Market Place is five minutes away. The hotel was well sited for this tourist's […] weekend in the City. The tourist office has two leaflets that I found particularly useful: one giving two 2-3 hour walks North and South of the city, which could more or less start from the hotel; the other a self-guided tour of the city centre. Reception was efficient about the room booking, friendly staff. There is a large open area with places to sit and a bar in this big modern building. There is an internet cafe with free access for residents. My room was large, modern executive style, pleasant decor. Comfortable bed, curtains kept out the light, TV with internet radio channels, empty fridge, safe, tea/coffee & kettle, iron. Well lit. My room was at the front overlooking the river with (at an angle), just, a view of the cathedral. Bathroom fairsized, decent toiletries, towel. Clean Breakfast options of full English or continental. Wide selection, food quality a bit mixed. Cheery staff. Some let downs in execution, individually trivial but perhaps not a good sign: the weekend FT newspaper not delivered on Saturday but on Sunday; when I came back at 13.00 after a morning out the room had not yet been made up; you can order poached eggs at breakfast, but poached eggs on toast is too much - toast is something you make yourself at the buffet; I was brought out of bed at 07.00 on Sunday to receive the room service order for another room, which was also added to my bill. It was fine. I thought it expensive for what you got. But it had been the best choice when I had looked on tripadvisor. Mehr

A well appointed hotel in a good location close to the town centre. The room itself was marred by a few silly appointment errors such as : kettle/tea making location with no accessible power point; safe location on the floor; no light near the wardrobes. These are minor points which prevent good becoming excellent.

Lovely location in a charming city

Everything was great except for the fact that our air con did not work and despite the fact we informed reception about this as soon as we arrived, it was never fixed. We had an uncomfortably hot and sticky night! Central location, friendly and helpful staff and we were very impressed by it (except for the air con issue)

A 5 minute stroll to the town centre. Fairly new our room had a view of the river - beautiful and clean, great facilities (gym, pool). If you are fit there is a walkway from the train station. Lots of stairs so think about the weight of your luggage. Would stay again.

The hotel was very nice. I particularly liked the gym and the swimming pool. It was very clean, simply pleasant to start or end your day with some excersize. The only small thing it is missing in the hotel is the toilet brush.

This hotel is conveniently located to the downtown area, a 10 minutes walk to the Cathedral & old part of town. Handy car parking, large room.

A nice hotel close to all the amenities but parking at the hotel should be free for hotel residents. The mini bar is empty and there should be bottled water at least provided in each room. Seems to be a mecca for stag and hen parties but this wasn't a bother at all. The breakfast charge for a cooked breakfast was rather steep to say the least. All of […] the staff were pleasant and helpful although it was a bit chaotic at breakfast. Finishing touches such as bottled water and snacks in the room as mentioned above would make the stay more enjoyable. Mehr

The Kingsize bed was 2 singles pushed together,only complaint.

We are travelling in England. On Saturdays and Sundays we find it economical to stay in hotels that serve the corporate trade during midweek. They offer substantial discounts at weekends. This hotel offered a good rate, but upon arrival we found two hidden costs. Their carpark charged £6.50 for overnight parking. We accepted this -- this hotel is not […] the only one with parking charges. But we were incensed by their up front debit of £30 against my credit card to cover any extra services that they might provide. For foreign customers, this adds further bank charges (for converting GBP into one's home currency). Then, when no extras are used, the hotel reverses the £30 -- more bank fees and currency exchange costs incurred! The hotel declined to accept a cash deposit in lieu of this expensive method. Mehr

Excellent location, minutes away from very good bars and restaurants and also very close to Gala Theatre. Room very clean and modern. Only problem was hotel guests paying for overnight car park (£6.50)

Excellent hotel in good location by the river. Easy bridge access to city centre.

Could not fault the room except the super king size bed turned out to be two singles joined together, not really a problem but had two single quilts . Only real bug bear was the cost of the parking £6.50 per night.

This is a fabulous hotel and everything you would expect from the Radisson group, from the friendly pleasant & competent staff to the interior of this comfortable charming chic hotel. In a great location convenient for all the major sights of historic durham city. Would recommend 100%

The hotel is ideally located - close to all amenities near centre. It is clean and spacious. Impressed with leisure facilities - enjoyed relaxing morning swimming, and taking advantage of sauna, steam room and jacuzzi to start off the day. We were entirely satisfied with the hotel and would recommend it to friends and colleagues.

The spa at this hotel is very good. It is open to non-residents making it very busy at times. Breakfast is too expensive but there are a lot of places close by with good breakfasts at reasonable prices. I would definitely stay here again

I was rather reluctant to pay £30 for two full english breakfasts especially given the appearance of the foo however, when we came to try it, we were extremely dissapointed that it was stone cold. The waitress offered to heat the breakfasts but when they returned, whilst the plates were hot, the food was still cold. We couldn't eat the breakfasts and […] we refused to pay. The hotel were very good and offered us a free lunch but after this experience we declined, especially given the sickly feeling that we were left with having started toeat the breakfasts. Mehr

We stayed at this hotel betwen Xmas and New Year 2010 and, maybe because of this, got a very good room rate. Breakfast was not included but that was OK. I did resent having to pay per night for parking - this should be included in the room rate.

This hotel is excellent, especially considering the price. It is modern, well-furnished and maintained, with very good sized rooms. As a base for a visit around Durham you really couldn't ask for much better!

Very well appointed hotel with helpful staff. However, the sound insulation between the rooms was very poor such that we were woken by guests in the next (?) room talking & laughing. Breakfast extortionate at £15!

hotel was very nice in a good location, although pricey for what you get. car park fee should be inc and the breakfast was 3x the price of the all you can eat at the premier inn 3 mins walk away. nice room with nice view of the river and cathedral.

The room is clean with modern amenities. The only thing is I don't find the bed comfortable but this depends largely on individual preference. I would have also expected better quality beddings.

Very nice hotel with staff very willing to please. Despite Halloween falling on a Sunday, so the place was a bit "dead", the staff (including the bar staff in particular) had made a great effort to enter into the "spirit" of the occasion. You had to smile. Well done.

Have stayed here before, and although we could neot get a Business class room, the standard grade was excellent, the staff in this hotel are top drawer, and genuinely friendly.

Courteous staff, spacious bedroom and clean. Easy access to town centre, theatre and shops.
