I liked the room I stayed in though I would have preferred having a bathroom in the room and not a shared one. My room was clean and had a wonderful view of the park. when i checked the reviews for the hotel some people had complained about noise. It was noisy at night but I was not bothered by this. Breakfast was good and girl in charge was friendly […] and helpful. I did not see anybody around while I stayed here apart from breakfast time. If you are ok with not having staff around and sharing bathroom, this place was great and would recommend to stay here. Also the location is fantastic! Mehr

Breakfast only served between 0800/0900 so anyone leaving earlier out of luck. Breakfast is a continental so im sure would not have been too difficult to put out earlier. Hotel does not have anyone on site. Contact through phone.Shared facilities. Heater did not work in bathroom neither did light for shaver in room.

We never met any member of staff during our stay as the office was always closed. There were no working lights up to our room on the top floor so needed a torch to see up to the room. There was some wallpaper peeling off the wall going up the stairs and the decor looked a little tired in some areas. The bed was comfortable and beeding good.

The room was small, the bed was comfortable. The DAB radio would have been great if it was near the bed. Every room (bathrooms, my room, dining room, hallway) seemed to have lights that weren't working.

A typical English B&B, with a few modernizations but otherwise run of the mill and over-priced. Rooms are tiny and our bathroom was outside the room and shared. Quite a lot of outside noise late at night. Saving grace is its location and breakfast.

Nice, clean hotel near everything. For the price it was great. Rooms, very clean and better than anticipated, not far from the city center, quiet location off of a park, car parking near by. Only strange thing was needing to have a combination for the front door which we did not get via email but luckily when we showed up a girl out front was able to […] tell us the number to get in. excellent location as we were attending a wedding very nearby. Pub next door v handy for a drink and food. Room was good. Might be noisy but didnt bother us as we were out all evening. Clean and tidy. I'd definitely return.

It was the first time I've stayed in a guest-house, rather than a hotel. If you want something easy, clean, comfortable and are really just looking for a place to rest your head then this is a great option. I booked it as there was limited options in Cambridge on the weekend I was searching so the only room left was a single, which I was a bit dubious […] about. However, it was perfect for my one-night stay to attend a function. At the property on Regent Place there is no 24 hour reception - you get emailed a code that lets you in the door and your key is waiting. At first it felt a bit strange to not "check-in" but it was easy. I arrived a little early and phoned to confirm which room I was in and the woman on the phone was brilliant to deal with. The guest house is tastefully furnished and very cute. The room itself was all I needed - comfy bed (great pillows), wash-basin, small desk and somewhere to hang clothes. There was a very clean shared bathroom that I never had to wait for even tho the guest house was full. Highly recommend it if you aren't going to be hanging out in your accommodation much. Mehr

The hotel was just across the field from the coach stop, so it is really convenient. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean, and the staff were very friendly. Decent breakfast provided.

A converted house so floor rather creaky and uneven etc. Nicely decorated in neutrals etc. Mostly comfortable but couldn't open the window so too stuffy at night especially. Overall quite good. Just 2 observations. Very steep stairs to my 3rd floor room. My room was not en-suite, but there was a bathroom next door. However, it was out of order meaning more trips up and down the very steep stairs.

Was GREATLY disappointed by the shared bathroom (that was hidden in the fine print and not stated up front). It was shared with at least 3 other rooms in the hotel where there are some long-term residents. The breakfast in the basement was good and hearty. There is only someone on duty in the front office (such as it is) M-F, 9-5. You're out of luck […] if you have to call a cab or ask any questions on the weekend. Regency House is a pleasant guest house. The location is perfect and the rooms are nice. but do not expect an hotel. The regency house is organized with shared bathrooms at each floors. The people managing the house are not there all day and you really want to make sure to ask them the code of the door before departure otherwise you might get stuck […] out. The room are nice and clean but there is not real room cleaning during your staying and my towels were never changed over a 5 days visit. Overall I would go back because it is a nice place and the location is just perfect but be it depends what you are look for. Mehr

Convenient place to stay - but front entrance & front door 'key pad' is very badly lit. It is very hard to enter numbers in the dark, with cold wet fingers or without reading specs on... (guest house not always staffed, e.g. at night). Rooms okay but the padded bed-heds look stange - they look as if they're made from offcuts of hard little floral mattress […] bases! However, shower-rooms are fresh & cleanly tiled, showers work well, with good pressure & hot water & much appreciated. Lift would have been nice. Mehr

A great location, close to station and town. The room was very clean, but small and a bit highly perfumed for my liking. There were no staff when I arrived and I couldn't get my TV to work, and there was no one to ask. The breakfast window 8-9am was a little tight and I nearly missed it. But overall a pleasing stay. The shower and toilet are not in the room and are not always clean. Also the water comes out slow and temprature is hard to control, and there are no soaps or shampoos to be found. Sink in room was very slow. Very strong odor of disinfectant everywhere, from sheets to bathroom.

The hotel was not a hotel, it was a guest house. I was disappointed with this because I thought I was booking into a hotel. There was no one in the guest house when my wife and I arrived. We were told to key in a number but this number was not on any documentation that I had so I had to telephone the landlord. I don't like to go outside my room to use a shower or toilet. The breakfast was continental but was nice. Overall I would like all these to have been pointed out to me in the description of the accommodation. I might or might not have booked the place depending on the information. Parking was difficult. My sister & I stayed a night at the Regency Guest House last weekend and really enjoyed our stay. The room was clean, fresh & warm (my only complaint would be the shower pressure could have been better). Breakfast was a continental type deal and had everything we needed. Location-wise it was an easy walk to all the sights we wanted to see.

A word of warning first - read the email that Regency House send you. The reception may not always be open, and the instructions provided are essential. My stay was over Christmas so some of the experiences were unusual, such as the self service breakfast on Christmas morning. This was managed very well. The hotel was not full on the days that I stayed, […] so service when provided (all other days) was friendly and helpful. Having previously lived and worked within a 5 minutes walk of the location, I had no tourist requirements. This may be a disadvantage for others, as the local knowledge of the staff that I met was minimal. This would only be slight though, as information was provided to help. The pinted guide in the rooms would be useful. A Tourist Information office is only a few minutes walk away. Regency House overlooks one of the may open green spaces in the city. This would provide a lovely view if you are lucky enough to get a facing room. Mine did not, looking out onto the back yard. Not the best view, but not a problem. In the room, that had en suite facilities, the room was comfortably heated, and tea/coffee facilities were available. Hopefully a new kettle will replace the worn out, but useable one in my room. Would I stay there again? Yes. Mehr

The hotel let me check in early, which was great and meant I didn't have to walk around with my bag. I was there with my daughter who had an interview, she staid in uni halls. The room was clean and was en suite which was great, the shower was lovely. My only problem was that night I was so cold I could see my breathe, I was freezing; I got up about […] midnight and went looking to see if there was anyway I could get some heat, only to realize the heater in the room had not been switched on. After getting the heating working I was lovely and warm. Also the tv in the room emits a constant buzzing when switched on, so I turned it off. I did not have breakfast as I had to leave at 7.30am to get to my daughter. The hotel location is great, close to most colleges. I would stay there again. Mehr

Be very careful about check-in They have a bizarre system where you have to get a code to open the front door from them directly--which they email you MANY hours after you book on-line. They have no one operating a front desk. If you do not have the code YOU WILL NOT GET IN. Note well: THIS IS NOT MENTIONED IN HOTELS.COM. You will not get in the hotel […] unless you receive the code--but this is NOT mentioned at all. So you have to wait many hours from the time of booking until you receive by email the code. BEWARE. The room was great. The breakfast was always the same, but it was still fine (rfuits, breads, ham and cheese, juices, cereal, coffee, tea). The atff was extremely helpful. The bed was comfortable. The only weird things: we were surprised that we had to share a bathroom (only 3 rooms have baths). Fine, but unexpected. We weren't given new towels each […] day, although we could get some from the bathroom if the cabinet wasn't locked. Same with shampoo-- in cabinet, but cabinet sometimes locked. The staff was incredible, though. The nice lady at front desk spent a long time explaining how to get around Cambridge, how not to be ripped off by cabbies, etc. She really took care of us. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great with enough protein. Hotel a short walking distance from the center of town and train station. Bathrooms are shared. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because of decent breakfast, otherwise I'd give it 2. Bathroom is shared, the room is cold. The location is central, so if you don't mind inconveniences I mentioned it might suit you.

We had a wonderful stay. The room, with a bathroom ensuite, was almost exactly what we wished for: a rather cozy, personal, than sterile, luxorious surrounding for our weekend. The guesthouse is located central in Cambirdge. We would love to come back.

There is nobody in the reception during evenings/nights/early mornings, which was a problem as something in my room was broken and needed repair.
