Wir hatten das Hotel gewählt, weil wir ein Fußballspiel in Newcastle sehen wollten. Das Stadion befindet sich in unmittelbarer Nähe und ist, genau wie der Bahnhof, in 5 Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar. Die Umgebung des Hotels ist eher durchschnittlich, einige Straßen und Läden machen einen schmuddeligen Eindruck. Das Hotel ist sauber und macht einen gepflegten […] Eindruck. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist für englische Verhältnisse gut. Leider gibt es kein kostenfreies Internet, deutsches TV ist auch nicht vorhanden (wie eigentlich immer in England). Mehr

Breakfast is uninspiring and could be improved.

The hotel is in a great central location and the outside appearance and foyer/bar area are both very smart and clean. The reception staff were friendly and helpful but the problems started when I reached my first room. The floor carpets were dirty, probably not because they hadn't been hoovered, but just with what appeared to be heavy duty use. The […] fabric at the base of the bed was torn with the wooden frame showing through and the bed cover appeared well worn. I asked for another room and there was no difficulty however on examining the room I was allocated there had obviously been water leakage from an adjoining bathroom which had seeped through the wall and heavily stained the carpet beside the bed and it. Looked fungal. I checked out with the manager apologetic and booked into the Sandman at £14 extra and the difference was day and night. I'm really not a snob but the price per night the Holiday Inn is charging is taking the mickey. Okay for a stag or hen night but that's it. Mehr

picked this hotel because it was central and indeed it is with cheap parking right next door. unfortunately thats where the good news ends. i was in a room on the top floor with a disabled toilet and shower which were the wrong height for me as i am 6 ft 3. the toilet was broken although it got fixed when i mentioned it. the room is average at best, […] charmless and just about functional but not good in any way. the worst part though was that the foyer was not heated and newcastle is a cold place. it is also where breakfast is served and so breakfast needed an overcoat! breakfast was again average. alas other than the position, this hotel has little charm or appeal. Usual chain hotel - 5 minutes from station and excellent bus services/ good breakfast/ helpful staff. Room however not as advertised on Hotel.com web site - no safe boxes in room/ no drawers/ no wardrobe etc.

Clean, centrally placed for Newcastle amenities and surpringly good breakfast. Just one thing, get a mortgage if you are planning on buying a drink from the bar!

Me and my three kids went to Newcastle for a weekend and i booked this hotel because of its location. It was about five minutes walk from the Centralstation and the same distance to important buses. We were supposed to be all four in one room but the convertble sofa was broken so we had two rooms instead for the same price as one room. Good Hotel, but needs to make Broadband Free in Room

The hotel is in an excellent location and has a secure and well priced car park next door (free between 5pm & 8am, 80p per hour rest of the time). It was a lucky escape as we almost checked in to a different hotel! The Holiday Inn Express was in an ideal location for us, being near the station and the night-life we wanted, and yet quiet and very comfortable. The design of the bathrooms was ingenious, having just one door to either shut off the toilet or the whole bathroom. Very neat. Comfortable hotel well located

Stayed with wife and two teenage children. Sofa bed comfortable for the girls and double bed same. All of the staff were polite and helpful. Our room was spotless as were the en suite shower room / wc. had a great weekend in newcastle. the hotel is in a great location for town. walking distance. the staff could'nt have been any nicer on reception. very pleasant and helpful. will definately be back.

Fine for a budget hotel excellent indian and thai restaurant within 3 mins walk . Breakfast was ok had better . Would use again easy to access all parts of newcastle, staff very helpful

Hotel was very good, no problems at all. The breakfast set-up was quite cramped but the food was fine. It was the busiest weekend of the year apparently, with races and a fair and uni's finished but the hotel itself was quiet at night. That said, the noise outside in Waterloo Square was very noticeable for much of the night.We were in an odd numbered […] room but the rest of the family were across the corridor in even numbered rooms and heard nothing. We booked this hotel for it's central location and closeness to St James Park as we were in Newcastle for a football match. great hotel , close to shops, pubs and clubs, 5mins walk also to the metro arena. Hotel in waterloo square was hard to find but worth it hen u get there, staff were great , very helpful and friendly. to stay from sat afternoon to sun teatime in the carpark next to the hotel only cost us £1.60 also ! My first time in England with two small children. The staff was amazingly accomodating and helpful. Can't say enough positive things about our experience. Service was exceptional. Room was small but adequate. Very clean. Bathrooms updated and clean. Traditional English breakfast was good.

Only stayed for one night - comfy enough room, though like most Holiday Inns it could benefit from a restaurant or even some bar snacks. Depending what room you're in too the noise from the lift is quite apparent.

This hotel would be fine for a long weekend in Newcastle, its clean and modern, and is in a good location, nothing amazing but its a satisfactory 3 star hotel. The hotel really fell down with the quality of its breakfast (if your expecting full english forget it), what there was of it (sausages and scrambled egg) kept running out, milk kept running […] out, cups, butter etc etc, and it seemed to take an eternity for any staff member to realise that 20 people were standing around waiting for basic food stuff. I booked into this hotel with my 7 year old daughter. The purpose of our trip was to visit family who live in Gateshead. I choose the hotel for its price and location (2min walk to the station) Everything about the hotel was good, the room - big and clean. The bathroom - modern and clean although no bath. The big let down was on the Saturday night/Sunday […] morning the groups of hen/stag parties staying there (and there were lots!) made the most horrendous noise coming in. At one point I thought the party was in the corridor outside my room! Newcastle is obviously a big party town and in someways I wasn't surprised that there was noise from the younger guests but it did put a bit of a damper on it. As for breakfast - avoid at all costs! At this rate, this hotel is a bargain. Close to central station and city centre. Spacious room. Clean and comfortable. Great staff, very helpful and friendly. We had the best night sleep here of the whole holiday!

We spent two nights midweek and were very happy with the location, room and service. The hotel is ideal if traveling by train (5 mins from station), the Centre For Life is just over the road and the city centre and Quayside are 10-15 mins walk. The room was unremarkable but clean with no obvious wear and tear. The air con was a welcome feature. Breakfast […] was fine - plenty of cold options as well as sausages, scrambled egg and toast. The staff were very happy for us to leave luggage during our last day in town. The location has a bit of a split personality. The block containing the hotel looks like a relatively recently redeveloped area containing flats, offices, restaurants and a dance studio. Some of the surrounding streets are much shabbier by contrast with a number of late night takeaways and dodgy looking bars. Finally some minor quibbles. There is building work going on opposite which might disturb anyone planning a lie-in or wanting to spend time in their room during the day. Also, we only spotted one available plug socket in the room. As long as these details don't matter to you and you're fine with a no-frills, chain hotel experience then I'd recommend the Holiday Inn. PS if you're looking for an organic cafe I recommend the Scrumpy Willow & Singing Kettle on Clayton St. and for real ale try the pubs on High Bridge. Mehr

Not that much to say about the hotel itself, it's in a good spot to in the City, though I did struggle finding it - even with sat-nav. You park in the multi storey next door, and that's charged day and night - so have lots of change ready, though I think you can pay by card over the phone. It cost me £5.50 to park. The check in was straight forward, […] and the staff happy and helpful. I was booked in to a disabled room so it was a large room with a wet-bathroom. All spotlessly clean and tidy. The only gripe I had about the room was that the TV was put in the corner of the room directly to the right of the headboard of the bed - not a good viewing position. That said many of the channels were quite blurred to. Holiday Inn Express are going through a rebrand at the moment, and have changed the breakfast to include hot items. Can someone tell this to the hotel please? I breakfasted at 8.30 and there was practically nothing left.....not just no food, but no plates, no cutlery etc - you get the idea. The only hot food available were some lonely looking sausages that must have been there since 7am. This was a disappointment, especially after all the advertising they have done. Positives: continental breakfast included a fairly large choice of cereals, bread, fruit, etc; the shower was really big; lots of space for storage. Negatives: cheap-feeling bedding; no free internet; poor water pressure in shower; no complimentary toiletries (just soap dispenser on the wall); not as central as it promises (i.e. it's on the 'wrong side' […] of the station, leaving the centre) Mehr

We found everything went smoothly. Very quick check-in. Clean and comfortable with excellent service throughout. Would recommend to anyone.

Veldig fornøyd med dette hotellet servicen var helt på topp og hotellet hadde meget godt renhold. Kort vei til sentrum også et pluss.

Hotellet er et bra sted for kortere opphold,plassert i nærheten av Metroèn og gåavstand til sentrum og schoppingsenteret . Frokosten var bra til å være kontinental,men vi savnet en restaurant i bygget. ellers var vi fornøyd med oppholder der

Hotel manifestement très récent, donc en excellent état, tant le bâtiment que les chambres. Seul bémol :lit d'appoint de qualité moyenne. Petit déjeuner très copieux et très bon. Parking à coté de l'hotel gratuit la nuit : pratique pour des étapes d'une nuit.

The hotell was really good, nice rooms with good beds and nice bathroom. To get internet to the room you though must pay about 10 GBP, but free in the common areas like the lobby. The breakfast was also very good, many things to order and it tasted good. The price for this hotel including breakfast is really a bargain!!

Greit og enkelt hotell å bo sentralt, men ikke ønsker å betale for mye. Rommene inneholder det de må, og ikke noe ekstra. Gåavstand til det meste, enkelt med parkering rett ved og lett å finne fram selv for de ferske. Hyggelig betjening. Frokosten kunne vært bedre, men forventer aldri noe i England på det området.

Sentralt hotell i Newcastle, og rett ved fotballstadion og jernbanestasjonen.
