Nice hotel condition, decent price BUT please get a toaster for breakfast that works!! Useless machine. Good breakfast otherwise, better than expected for continental. Check in was v.slow as the room had been booked under the first name, not surname and satff could bnot find us. Generally I would happily go back

Conveniently located both for the Metro Centre and for walks along the Tyne and Derwent Country Park, this dog friendly hotel was a good choice for us as an overnight stop with the quality I've come to expect from this brand. Self service breakfast with hot and cold choices and a free paper. Clean and comfortable.

In the middle of nowhere and soulless area Full of stag parties

Break Fast Quality and the Menue was so so. All four night same things not change at all.

are stay was for 1 week,for shopping and visiting relatives,hotel was in a great location for shopping and the buses were frequent pick up was just outside of hotel.had a very comfortable stay,room was very clean and a great view of the river,will definetly stay again.

We had a pleasant overnight stay at this hotel, using it as accom while in transit between Edinburgh and York. As part of a chain, you get what you expect...clean, dependable, predictable, but no complaints. Well located to the MetroCentre for a bit of shopping. Would stay again.

The Hotel was very good, staff were friendly & helpful.Problem was when catching public transport there was no easy way of crossing the dual carriageway.

Comfy bed, good size room, v. Clean bedroom and bathroom, breakfast decent. Would recommend

Provided everything necessary for a break in the journey from Inverness to Sheffield at a very reasonable price. Will stay again.

Our family room appeared to be a 'smoking room' (which we did not ask for) but although i thought it was now illegal to smoke indoors anywhere in the UK, people in the rooms next to us obviously were! The corridor and our room stank of stale smoke and there was even an ashtray in our room. i wasnt very happy about that. The main thing that was a real […] pain was everytime we left our room, even if it was to go to the car, our room was locked and we had to keep going back and forth to reception to get them to unlock our room door. we stayed at the hotel for 3 days and everytime we left the room it was the same. Reception kept blaming the fact that my husband kept the 'key' in his wallet, but no matter where we kept the key the door would be locked. Breakfast wasnt great and the usual sourley staff floating about filling up the breakfast bits didnt help. But i guess you only get what you pay for, and as we didnt pay a great amount, we didnt get top notch. But all in all, the cleanliness of the hotel was fine and the sheets were clean and i guess thats all that matters. Mehr

I would recommend the Holiday Inn Express for location to Necastel & Gateshead, it's friendly staff but most of all for the clean large and comfortable room with every thing you need and for being envoironmentally friendly.

Have stayed here at other times, the location is handy, being on the West side of Newcastle, ideal for moving on to the borders, for a trip to the Metro Centre. or easy access to Newcastle. The Hotel is clean and well run, the double rooms with sofa are comfortable with very up to date on suite facilities. The buffet breakfast is very acceptable.

Expect typical Holiday Inn services and facilities. Good location. The staff could be more courteous though.

Problems when I asked for another pillow as the one in the room was paper thin,they didn,t have any. Breakfast was a shambles,no food,cutlery,plates. Took three attempts and about 40 minutes to get a plate with sausages and egg which in the end we had to eat with a spoon as no other cutlery. Excellent location for shopping at Metrocentre and 5 minute drive from Radio Arena. TGI Fridays and Frankie and Benny's within walking distance. Problem with room keycard quickly resolved. Only negative is with the lift. Doors close very very quickly.

This hotel is very clean with a nice modern look and very comfortable rooms. It is right across the street from the MetroCentre, which makes this an ideal place to stay when doing serious shopping. My only gripes were minor, being that I had to pay extra for internet, and their breakfast was on the lacklustre side.

The Express By Holiday Inn Newcastle Metro Centre is perfectly located to explore the delights of the brilliant Metro Centre or as a base to explore nearby Newcastle or Durham, as we did. Durham park and ride was only a 20-minute drive away and it meant on our return we had all of the facilities of the Metro Centre nearby. As with other hotels in this […] chain, the room was clean, comfortable and with all of the facilities you would need for a night's stay - good buffet breakfast in the morning where you could choose one of 8 cereals, toast, hot food such as scrambled eggs or sausages, fresh orange juice, tea/coffee and mini croissants/pastries. Definitely set us up for a day's exploring! The hotel wasn't noisy at all and the bar is open late if you wish to have a drink downstairs. For a couple of nights at a reasonable rate the hotel suited us well. It is handy for access to Metro Centre shopping Centre and Newcastle. We were in one of the newer rooms in the Annex. The room whilst fairly basic was clean and the bed comfortable. Traffic noise was low although we could hear mechanical equipment serving the hotel in the early hours […] - but not enough to keep us awake. Breakfast was adequate if not very extensive. Mehr

I would highly recommend this hotel. We have stayed here 4 times now. I would highly recommend that for your evening meal go across the road to the Taybarns buffet. Great value and great food!

We only stayed one night as we were attending a wedding nearby. Check-in was great we were given access to the room early. When we got to the room it was although there was a big brown stain on the sofa. When we came back late at about 1am the bar was still open so we decided to have a quick drink, we were the only people there the staff said they […] didn't accept cash so we said ok we'll pay by card the guy said we'll have to authorise your card for £30!! even though the drinks we'd ordered only came to £10!! It was very difficult to explain we only wanted one drink and we just wanted to pay for it there and then, it took 25 mins to get one drink! Bizzare end to a good night. I would avoid the bar- the staff are particularly unhelpfull and don't seem to want to take your money! I am glad we were only staying one night as there was a general depressing feeling about the place, non of the staff seemed to want to work there or cared less about customers. I doubt i'll be back, i'd advise pay more and stay somewhere else! Mehr

HOTEL OK ,A BIT FAR OUT OF TOWN .LOCAL PUB AND DINERS USUAL FAST FOOD

On the whole I did enjoy my stay at the hotel. I was put in a smoking room but after request to change, I got moved to a non-smoking room with no problem. I cannot fault the service. The hotel is a little out the way if you dont have a car. I found the suggested walk from the hotel to the metro centre not ideal esp for a lone female. The path was very […] secluded ran at the bottom of the embankment at the side of the main road and under railway bridges. None of which would be well lit at night. A taxi ride is likely to cost you £6 for a v short distance so quite pricey. Also there are only a choice of 3 places to eat immediately surrounding the hotel. A taxi ride to the city centre will cost u £10. Other than that, I would recommend this hotel. Mehr

Hotellet ligger ca 10 min gange fra Metrocetre. Like ved hotellet går det også buss hvert tiende minutt til Metrocentre og til Elden Square i Newcastle sentrum. Nærmeste nabo er restauranten Fridays og den lokale puben samt restauranten Frankie og Benny's. Vi har kun to ting å utsette på oppholdet og det var manglende ventilasjon på rommet og noen festløver […] som budde like over gangen fra vårt rom som kom hjem kl 04:30 hver morgen fulle og bråkete. Men dette ble det slutt på da nattevakten gikk til det skrittet å låse seg inn hos de festglade jenten og truet med å kaste dem ut neste dag.Ellers er dette absolutt en grei plass å bo i forhold til shopping og andre aktiviteter i Newcastle omådet.
