We stayed at Holiday Inn Express Montreal Centre-ville Downtown for 2 nights. The room was big and clean. The fact that the room has a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker is a plus. The included breakfast was very good; very good variety, everything was fresh and they did replenish it all the time. This is great place to stay. Courteous staff at the front desk, service with a smile, and the feeling that it was a "home away from home" - what else could one ask for? The front desk staff went above and beyond, to make our stay pleasant and memorable. Just a suggestion, and not a complaint - wish we had a microwave in the dining area (where we had our breakfast). We had to make do with cold , rather than hot milk we are used to. We asked for a late checkout, were told that the latest we could check out was 2.PM. We were behind by 20 minutes, and thought we would be charged for an extra day. Guess what? To our pleasant surprise, the staff at the front desk asked us simply not to worry about it. Instead they gave us extra time to pack.. The next time we are in Montreal, we won't look elsewhere to stay. It will be the Holiday Inn Express in Downtown Montreal. Mehr

Had a really bad experience. Wanted to take a shower at 11pm and had no hot water. They changed my room. Day after i came back after business meeting needed to charge my devices and there was no power in the plugs for like 1 hour. They took so long to come to my room that the power was already back to work. Morning after again no power in the plugs. The room was perfect except there was NO hot water for shower. I had informed the front desk of the problem three times. If there was hot water for showers I would give a perfect stay.

This hotel isn't fancy, but it's easy to get to, fairly close to attractions and nightlife (10-15 min. walk at most) and is clean and comfortable.

Great breakfast, great room, great price! The location is within walking distance of all major attractions and close to subways!

Bed Mattresses were not comfortable at all, bends on either side. Rooms were little dusty, created little allergic situation Overall cleanliness is not good

I made my reservations by calling the 1-800 provided on Hotels.com. The person I spoke with advised me of some extra charges; I said to them that those charges shouldn't be included in my total. CSR accepted and took off extra charges...when I got to hotel, I didn't get the room that I had originally asked for, but the reception was extremely professional […] and quickly fixed the room to the appropriate 1bdrm suite. I liked the bed sheets and pillows. Amazing price and very clean...stayed at several hotels around the area including Sheraton, Fairmont QE, Le Nouvel Hotel and by far Holiday Inn Express gave me the biggest bang for my buck. Definitely recommend and will stay there again. Mehr

The Hotel needs maintenance - there were tiles missing in the bathroom – the door and the vanity had chipped wood the carpet in the living area was stained with a large coffee stain Hotel staff service is very good The service for the buffet is very good The location is great

We came to Montreal for a very brief time to go to the US Embassy. The staff at the front desk were very nice and helpful. Our room was very cold, of course it snowed within a few hours of our arrival. That morning we called to have someone check our heat (still very cold) front desk lady said it sounded broken and someone would come that day. We went […] out to do our errands. When we got back that night, it was freezing. After sitting in our coats, hats and boots for an hour waiting for the heat to kick in, we called again. Finally a maintenance man came in and found that the wiring in the heater was completely undone. They got us a new room, which was amazing! It was bigger, cleaner, and looked like it had just been renovated. Our first room was not dirty, but it looked old and rundown, plus there was no space in the bedroom. Overall, I would say it is not a bad hotel for the price, but don't expect too much. By the way, the breakfast is nothing special. We were amazed at how little variety there was to eat. I guess that is what they mean by "Express". :) Mehr

Holiday Inn Express is clean, in good for exploring Montreal location and has friendly staff. What else do you need for downtown stay? Rooms are well equiped, quite large and clean. Brealfast is OK though better quality plates and plastic ware would not hurt.

I had originally meant to travel alone so was fine with the single bed room I booked. Then a co-worker joined me and we each called to change the room to a two bed room, which they agreed to do each time. However when we got there we found the other 'bed' was a sofa-bed. Actually the sofa bed was pretty comfortable and it ended up being like a suite […] with two bedrooms, but I wish they had explained this at the beginning! Also the first room we were in had a broken sofa bed and then we had to change rooms. IT took a few calls to do this and it was unusual that they didn't send anyone up to help us move. However the lady at the front desk was very friendly and apologetic. The room was overall okay, not very clean but not dirty either. A good deal for what we paid but we were not happy with the mix-up. Mehr

walking distance to beginnings of the city, harbour area and museum of city's beginnings.

+ Large rooms, a lot of space. good location, kitchenet and free internet. - If you book it through Hotel.com or Expedia they put you in smoking floor. It took me a few days to keep window open to get rid of smell

Would stay again. Big room, excellent breakfast, friendly, clean, close to Chinatown and easy walk to old town. Great value.

The hotel was pretty good. It provided indoor parking for a reasonable fee ($ 18 plus tax per night). No restaurant in the premises but Chinatown, with many restaurants, is only one block away. Plus several other options a few more blocks down the street. Also, there is a IGA super market three blocks away, very convenient. Old Montreal is within walking […] distance. The Metro station is also a couple of blocks away. The room was very comfortable. The in-room kitchen facilities (fridge, microwave, dinner and silverware) came out very handy. The complimentary breakfast was only OK and the dining room is small and always crowded. Hotel staff service was very good. Mehr

I enjoyed my stay here very much...Next time I go to Montreal I will definitely stay at the Holiday Inn Express. It is in a very convenient location and it suited our needs perfectly. The staff was helpful and the room had everything we needed, even a balcony. For the price, very worth it.

Hotel was very convenient to several neighborhoods. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful but rarely open seating. The hotel does need to have some maintentence completed. Several holes in the wall and stains in the carpet.

My fiance and I were so pleased with our stay at the hotel that we had to make a point of writing a postive review as soon as we returned home. We were initially apprehensive about staying at this particular hotel due to some of the negative reviews we read prior to our stay, but every aspect of this hotel was exceptional considering the price we paid! […] The continental breakfast included hot and cold items (expect a line-up starting at 9:00AM), the hotel is walking distance to Old Montreal, Chinatown, Latin Quarter, the underground shopping mall, and the American Embassy which was our main concern. The front staff were genuinly friendly and always eager to help with directions, calling a cab, etc. The rooms were big and clean with a full sized fridge, microwave and even a dishwasher. There were no pots and pans, but dishware and cutlery were available. We just went grocery shopping across the street and purchased mostly premade meals that we could heat up in the microwave (great for those traveling on a budget). If my fiance and I ever visit Montreal again we would definitely stay in this hotel again. Mehr

We had mixed thoughts about this hotel. The room was clean and quiet and there was a good breakfast included with hot food choices. It was a short walk through Chinatown to Old Montreal. Even though we arrived an hour after check-in, our room was still not ready for another hour. We sat in the lobby because we were told the wait would be shorter. However, […] several other people came in after us and were quickly given keys to their rooms. The front desk attendant lied to us 3 times about 3 different questions, during that time. However, all of the other desk attendants were very helpful, during the remainder of our stay. Even though the room had a full kitchenette, there were no table or chairs to eat at. You had to stand over the kitchen counter or eat in bed. Our water heater in our room broke, so we took 2 icy cold showers. However, when we reported the problem to the manager, she quickly apologized, paid for our parking, and got it fixed. That definitely made up for some of the problems we faced, even though she only knew about that one. Mehr

My husband and I had a great time in Montreal and a great stay at this hotel. Pros: 1) great staff - super friendly and helpful 2) great location - we returned our rental car and walked all around the neighborhood. we walked to the shopping areas, to old montreal, and to mount royal (a bit of a trek). Some reviews said the neighborhood is sketchy but […] I did not think so... yes, there are strip clubs on the next street over but a few streets over it's really lovely. I didn't feel unsafe walking down the street. 3) good breakfast - perhaps nothing special but they had good selection of yogurt, cereal, eggs, sausages, pancakes, toast, drinks. 4) large room - the room has a kitchen with a full size fridge, sink, dishes and utensils. it has a living room with couches and a tv and also a bedroom (small) with another tv. More than happy with the size of the room. Cons: 1) I did find some cigarette buds on the balcony. 2) parking, though advertized at $16/day, was $18/day 3) in our room, the bathroom ceiling had paint chipping off the corner due to the steam i'm guessing. a little touch up on things like that can go a long way. Near the waterfront and old Montreal which is nice. If you head a block in the other direction you will encounter a seedy part of town. Stunk of urine and there were several strip clubs and sex shops. If you are into that kind of thing then this is the hotel for you!

The hotel is in walking distance to old Montreal, chinatown, the colleges and downtown. A typical Holiday Inn Express as far as amenities, good standard breakfast and is really nice to have a partial kitchen with microwave and refrigerator. Hotel is close to Montreal hot spots but the underground parking was a pain to circumvent the tight areas. Very disapppinted there was no help to bring in luggage. Difficult to unload by front or side entrance, so had to tackle antiquated luggage trolley within underground parking. Not an upscale area & a little scary with homeless lurking. Hotel was in a good location. A nice place to stay,, but there were two issues you probably won't need to worry about. The first issue was an unreliable Internet, but the property was in the process of upgrading the service so it will hopefully be much better by the time you get there. Have stayed at this hotel a few times. Each time the staff have been very unhelpful. This last time, they assigned a smoking room and wouldn't switch it to non-smoking as arranged when booked. Would not assist to locate another room. Plus parking is valet only and the parkade guy is frequently MIA. Avoid this one.

When I check-in the Hotel, I asked my booking two bed room, but front desk ( curled hair) man very rude to me. The corridor of the hotel was very noisy all the night.

Vallet is 18 no self parking close by where you cannot get a ticket. Breakfast was fantastic. Room was ok, but got a weird bite .... On shoulder not so impressed.

They wanted me to pay 18 plus tax for parking. I was surprised when they gave me the bill and reduced the price to $ 12 and some change. The first night my family slept in a very cold room. I couldn't call the front desk because it was about 3 O'oclock when we were freezing. Early in the morning we realized that one of the windows that was broken. We […] called and they came and fixed. We were very pleased with this hotel. The accommodations were comfortable, the breakfast good, and the staff efficient and friendly in both languages. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to friends.
