This is a typical no-frills beach hotel (not right on the ocean, but very close and also near the Bogue Inlet pier). My room was clean and had what looked to be updated furniture, TV, bedding and flooring. Ok, the location is outstanding, it is about a block from the beach. But this is a old hotel in need of renovations since it was probably last updated in the 1970's. The fixtures in the tub and the handle on the toilet were corroded. Either the floor or the toilet in the bathroom hadn't been cleaned well as there was an odor. The shower curtain was stained (looked like red paint from the bedroom to me but totally grossed out my husband who thought something else) and the tile is old and unsightly. It was obvious […] that the bedroom had been updated as we could see from the pictures online but if we could have seen the bathroom, it would have been a deal breaker. I almost checked out of this "motel" immediately but decided to give it a chance. Completely rundown building, stains on the bedspread and a blanket that looked like it came from someone's basement linen closet. Needless to say, first thing I did was check for bed bugs...all good. Then I stripped the bed and slept with nothing but the sheet. The trailer […] parks surrounding the motel were disconcerting at best. It was better than some places we have stayed in that price range. The only complaint we had was mold on the shower curtain. Otherwise the room was clean, personnel were pleasant and helpful, beds were in good shape and comfortable.

3rd stay at Oceanview. We stay while waiting to get into our beach house rental the next day. We pay the price because we are close to ocean front and Bogue Pier, but would never pay that price for that room otherwise. The staff and management are very friendly and helpful. We will stay there again.

Great staff (very friendly and helpful), quiet and convenient location, price was average. Room was large enough for us - very comfy. Next time, if I bring the kids again, I'll need a hotel with a pool, but for my wife and I this was perfect.

I am a little bit angry about the fact, that I forgot my european transforming plug in room 206 and when I called to ask for sending me the plug the stuff told me, that they didn´t found it. this is not nice.

Very centrally located on the island, can walk to several restaurants and shops. Can't get much closer to the pier, great for folks wanting to fish off the pier. Close to beach access. Staff was very accommodating.

This is an older motel, but it is kept up nicely. The staff was excellent and very friendly. We had 4 adults staying in the room and there was plenty of room for all of us. The rooms were clean and fresh smelling. We will stay there again the next time we visit the area. Hopefully we will again this fall.

This room was good for one night maybe two if you weren't going to have and unplanned trip. if you had lots of things planned in the area then you might use this hotel. There is no ice machine for the hotel, you can buy ice in the office for $2.00 a bag. There really wasn't much arround the hotel for families to do at least not that I saw. one drink […] machine was all I saw and thats buy the office. The sheets on the bed seemed as if they were short sheeted and the bed was so wrong for my back. Oh, the refer in the room didn't work. All in all I was glad to be headed home when I had to leave. When we came in, the bathroom was cleaned I am sure, but still looked dirty. The fact that there is no window that can be opened makes the room humid and unhealthy. You can feel it when you were outside for a while and open the door. However, the location is convenient, not far from food and grocery stores.

I am a mother of three who happens to be very low maintenance and usually prefer to stay in hotels less than 4 and 5 star because I have two young boys and kids can be hard on things. I have to say I was afraid to take a shower and use the bathroom and I actually started to search for bed bugs. I seen a bunch of signs that could have possibly meant […] bed bugs but not a 100% sure. I just made sure that we washed EVERYTHING in very hot water when we got home and disinfected everything I could not wash. We had no choice but to stay. It definitely was not worth the high dollar amount per night. The beach area was kinda up nasty too. The water was full of sea weed, debris, rock etc., and when walking out I was stepping on a bunch of crunchy shells and so on. The water was just nasty looking. Great place, nice folks, and pretty clean--except for the rugs which was like walking on tar. Why a beachside resort doesn't have tile or wood floors I don't know. Also plumbing needs work, clearly clogged with lots of sand. Best part is that it is stones throw from the beach.

The outside of the hotel leaves you questioning your judgement, but it's just an older hotel. On the inside our room was renovated with new furniture, bedding, paint, and flat panel TV. My only disappointment was the location. It is located directly infront of the pier, but there is also a large RV park behind it as well as a retaurant/bar. There is […] only one way to the beach through a set of stairs in a privacy fence that surrounds the whole RV park. The name is slightly misleading. It is not directly on the beach, and from the 1st floor you cannot see the ocean at all. The second story may have better views. My biggest complaint is the amount of traffic coming and going to the pier. They flew in and out without looking. It was scary to walk my 4 year old back and forth, so we started using an empty parking lot between the hotel and the RV place instead. It was also a little loud at night as the pier restaurant or bar...not really sure which, is open late, but once inside the room it was mostly quiet. It is fairly near Camp Lejeune and our last night there we heard very loud planes doing some kind of testing until about 1 AM. Given the other hotels to choose from in the area I would stay here again. I have no complaints about comfort or cleanliness, or housekeeping. Also don't expect a lot of breakfast type restaurants if staying in Emerald Isle. Food selection is mostly pizza, subs, and a few seafood joints. Mehr

booked our room as a last minute getaway. description of the hotel and the picture advertising the hotel must have been mixed up with some other hotel....nowhere from the hotel was there an ocean view...maybe from the rooftop with binoculars....it should be named RV park view because to the left and in front of the hotel was just that. it was a two […] block walk to the ocean. Our room was musty smelling and on one of the bedsheets was a very obvious stain. the hot water took forever to heat up. yes there was a coffeepot in the room....but no cups to drink from...should we have brought our own? Would never recommend this hotel to anyone except for college students on a party weekend......o yea, they WERE there.. in the room right next to us....and then the police were there in the morning arresting one of them.(we were not the ones to call the law) So glad we only stayed one night! This property doesn't look like much on the outside, but room was nice and had comfy beds. There is a spelling error on the sign outside (fridge is spelled "frigde"), but that's minor and rather funny. I liked the fact that it was well within walking distance to the beach. When visiting our Marine son at nearby Camp LeJeune, we will stay at Oceanview again. Close to everything. Walking distance to great food, shopping, beach, and pier. VERY personable service.
