I booked online from Australia. I spent some time with family then, due to a change to my travelling arrangements, I arrived earlier than the stated... check in time, but a phone number on the front door enabled me to contact the manager who kindly arranged for a member of staff who lived locally to let me in. I was so grateful after travelling there by train for four hours, and walking from the train station! I was able to dine downstairs in the restaurant - lovely food at a reasable price. I was travelling alone and the wait staff were very aware of this and provided me with reading material at my mealtimes, which was very thoughtful and much appreciated. It can feel awkward when dining alone, but not here at Berties! I had the bed and breakfast option and paid for my evening meal separately. My room was comfortable and very clean, the bathroom had a bath as well as a shower which was good. There was some evening noise from local traffic but it wasn't too bothersome or too late. I spent only two nights here but really enjoyed my stay and Romsey itself is a beautiful place to visit - make sure you visit the Abbey! von Shelley aus Australia am 06.09.2012
