Sand Dollar Inn - Westerly

For the present condition of the hotel, the rates I paid for is too expensive.

the room was clean and the staff were personable. We would definitely stay there again.

Considering the age of the motel, it provides moderate accommodation. Don't expect modern decore. Its conveniently located near Dunes Beach and the state beach. If your going to spend a lot of time in the room I would not stay here. If you plan to head to the beach, the Sand Dollar is a reasonable place stay. The Sand Dollar is close and convenient to the beach, the highway and a lot of restaurants and other amenities. The people who own the Sand Dollar are really friendly people who are willing to point you in the right direction to the best coffee, seafood, or burger in town.

This was not what I expected. Clean (I think) but very old and shabby. Owners very pleasant.

Had we not already pre-paid, there is no way I would have stayed at this hotel after seeing it in person. When we arrived all the screen doors of the rooms were open. When we walked into the room it was clear why this was the case as the room smelled horrible. It did not smell clean, nor did it look very new. We kept the screens on the windows open […] all night, but the smell never seemed to get much better. The decor was outdated and needed replacement. The shelf in the bathroom was loose and at a height where you hit your head when washing your face. This place may be within driving distance to the beach, but it certainly wasn't worth the price we paid. We went to bed early and got up early just to get out of there as fast as possible. Mehr

The husband -wife team were very nice and the premises very clean and easy to get to around town. The king bed which we were upgraded to upon arrival was super hard. So if the firm beds are your forte, this is definately for you. Nice stay, we'd come back again some time, I believe.

You definitely get what you pay for! The rate was cheaper than everyone else for a reason! The carpet looked like it hadn't been vacuumed in ages- we were afraid to walk on it barefoot. The bed appeared to be clean. There were two upholstered chairs and a small table in the room- but the chairs were stained so we didn't want to sit on them. The bathroom […] was ridiculous and stunk like methane gas- not even a shelf inside the stand up shower to put your soaps and shampoos on and the shower curtain wasn't big enough to keep the water from splashing out all over the bathroom floor. Will not ever return here! If you want to be where the action is in RI, don't go to Westerly!! Go to Narragansett or Newport. This was our first stay in Westerly and we couldn't even find a decent seafood restaurant close by......yes in Rhode Island!!!! Mehr

This hotel was cleaned but had a bad smell in the room, very moldy,musty almost like cat pee.
