The hotel is perfectly ok apart from 2 gripes...sound proofing between rooms is poor and I had to bang on the bedroom wall to stop the chap in the next room during a foul language tirade , apparently on his phone. Also , the room wwas cool in the morning.

We stayed in this hotel when we were traveling to Edinburgh. It was only about a half hour from all of the sights, and it was great to stay in. The beds were comfortable, and the staff was nice. Not The Hilton, but still very very comfortable, and excellent value. I would recommend it to others!

Based on 20 year old memories of the Pitbauchlie, we booked two rooms for two nights for a party of three plus a baby. When we arrived there were no staff around apart from a rather dour receptionist, so no help with getting all the baby's clobber to the room. The rooms were small and utilitarian and lacked any homely touches such as a box of tissues. […] The beds were not particularly comfortable - you could feel the springs - so no long lie-ins! The baby's cot supplied by the Hotel was fairly new and the linen fresh and clean, though it meant there was almost no room to move in the room. The hotel obviously specialises in large functions, with parties happening on both nights. The first one ended around midnight, but the second went on till 2am. The functions rooms are well separated from the bedrooms, but the outdoor smoking area is located just outside the bedrooms, and the noise of rowdy party-goers at that time in the morning was not a pleasant experience. Walking past the smoking shelter in the morning was disgusting with cigarette butts and vomit all over the place. The hotel really needs to police the area and behaviour of smokers more effectively. If you stay, make sure you get a room on the far side of the bedroom wing. Being a family visit, we didn't eat in the hotel except for breakfast before leaving. The food was good if rather expensive for what was on offer. On the other hand the "fresh" grapefruit juice was definitely off (fizzy), but the member of staff to whom this was pointed out did nothing about removing the jug from the self-serve area until a further stronger complaint was made. He eventually produced another jug of juice which was OK. The Hotel's focus on weddings and functions seems to have led to a drop in the standard of service offered to other guests. Altogether a rather disappointing stay. We will probably look elsewhere next time. Mehr

We stayed at this lovely hotel for two nights and thoroughly enjoyed the time there. Our room was clean, comfortable and well equipped, including iron and ironing board and tea and coffee making facilities, and we woke up to a picturesque view of snow. The staff were very helpful and friendly and we would definitely stay there again. The location is […] good, unless you want to be right in the middle of Edinburgh! What impresses about this hotel is the standard of service from all of the staff. This can only be a reflection on the good management of the establishment. We had a table for six in the Bistro which was a very pleasant dining experience for all concerned & on leaving in the morning a satisfying breakfast to see us on our way. We will be back.

Stayed over night for a family wedding. Hotel staff very friendly and room was excellent. Did not dine in the hotel but the meal served at the wedding was delicious and was enjoyed by all who attended. Hotel is ideally located for attractions in the area and would certainly consider staying here again.

This was a great place to stay in every way. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 for convenience of location is that it is some miles outside of Edinburgh. However, we found it an easy commute to get into Edinburgh (we had a car), and Dunfermline itself has some great sightseeing. The hotel was extremely clean, comfortable, and quiet (windows […] that opened and overlooked a garden). It was not really a problem for us, but one possible drawback for some might be that there are rooms on a second floor, and no elevator. This hotel also has a lovely, well kept garden in back, and we ate one of our dinners at the bistro on site, which had good service and delicious food. The hotel staff went out of their way to be helpful and answer our questions. This was an excellent value for the price, and I would not hesitate to stay there again. Mehr

We very much enjoyed our stay. We liked the oversized, comfortable bed and the spacious room. The food was very good and reasonably priced. The staff was very curteous and responsive. It's very quiet and the gardens are beautiful. The only downside is that we couldn't get technical folks to help solve our problems outside the regular workhours. We […] couldn't get the internet and the TV channels to work properly in the evening, and we couldn't get any help. But overall, it was a very good stay. Mehr

A very good standard of service and accommodation at a reasonable price.

The room was nice, but don't eat at the hotel. Eat at the Barley Sheaf Pub up the road (away from the city centre). The staff there was very pleasant, food was quite good and the prices were reasonable. FYI: breakfast is not included with the room.

The staff were brilliant. Never had any problems with service, food was excellent. Very efficient restaurant staff. Star rating makes you think this is a budget hotel with budget accomodation. Some four star hotels have been lower standard than this hotel. Will stay again next year.

A very pleasant, good value and friendly experience. Good service. Decent selection of reasonably-priced food. Ideally located and great value. Will visit again.

I will stay here again if in the area and think recent negative reviews are most unfair. Photo on website is a bit misleading as the majority of the hotel is modern, but nice enough inside. Single room was fine:- clean, comfortable and quiet. I did not eat at the hotel so cannot comment on the quality of the food.

Good comfortable friendly hotel

This hotel provides a good base for sightseeing as you can get to Edinburgh by train (free car park at station) and can drive easily to places like Stirling, Falkirk and Glamis. The reception staff were excellent; looking up train times and route maps for us and providing a lot of help. The room was clean, however, there were a few little things […] which could be improved. The sheets were not big enough for the bed and the pillows were very poor, resulting in very uncomfortable nights! The bar and retaurant staff could improve - the breakfast table was only laid properly on 1 out of 7 days - we had to constantly ask for butter and basics - by the time it was supplied the toast was cold. There was little provision for continental breakfast with proper provision on only 1/7 days. The staff watched my husband struggle through the hotel doors with 2 suitcases (they could have held the door at least) which made him very annoyed. We would stay here again, but can see why it has a 3 * rating - they could raise their game. Mehr

Although the hotel is a little out of the way the staff and the hotel conditions make up for it. The staff was outstanding and were always willing to offer help and advice. I will definitely stay here again.

My wife and I took my 85 year old parents on a nostalgic 4 day trip to Scotland. Spent ages looking for a hotel in or around Edinburgh that was reasonably priced, recommended by other travellers and had free and ample parking space. Soon concluded that this was a non-starter in Edinburgh itself. Casting my net wider I was impressed with reviews and […] facilities at Pitbauchlie House, especially as it was in Dunfermline which is worth visiting in its own right and is also convenient for Edinburgh and Fife attractions. The hotel exceeded our expectations. Staff pleasant and helpful, breakfast ample,freshly prepared and ordered and brought to table by waitress (a refreshing change from buffets so prevalent these days). The evening meals in the Bistro were varied and of good quality. The house wine - 2 large glasses and the bottle free - brought the price down to £9 for a decent red. We did not use the main restaurant but don't doubt that it was of high quality. The hotel is bright, scrupulously clean and decorated/furnished in a modern style. We were fortunate to be upgraded to 2 de luxe rooms (without asking) and they were impressively large, clean and well furnished, including a large wall mounted TV. My parents 'enjoyed the best nights' sleep they had had in ages.' Highly recommended and would definitely stay again. Mehr

Hotel room was comfortable though would benefit from air conditioning so that windows could be closed - birds singing at 4am is not to everyone's liking, particularly when the only means of ventilation was to open the windows. Meals were a bit of a disappointment. The cooked breakfast was luke warm. There was however a good selection of food available […] at breakfast so a cooked breakfast was not essential. Staff were generally helpful, particularly the reception staff. Mehr

Dåligt att man skulle ha extra betalt för frukost när dan innan sagt att det ingick. Frukosten var dålig också
