Stayed there for my wedding night. The suite was fabulous but the room service never arrived. Hallways are very dark and every time a car drives past the front of hotel the loose pavers on road make a dreadful sound. But oh the room was fantastic! The corridors and rooms are dull and ordinary once you get past the hip front entrance. My air-conditioner had two settings. Off and very hot, or arctic sub zero. No pool, and a view of the building next door. Lets say Im not planning on staying there again

Great location but the rooms are extremly small. I booked a standard queen room and was nicely upgraded by the receptionist to a premium room. The premium was no bigger than a shoe box so i would hate to think what a standard room would be like. Overall great location but wont be staying again.

Everything about our stay was great- the room, drinks at the bar, the restaurant was very good. Our only very small suggestion would be to give the guest a map of the hotel at check-in... we ran into three different people, plus ourselves, who managed to get lost several times despite pretty good signage throughout!

The only improvement I can think of is the installation of handrails in bathrooms. Perhaps not aesthetically pleasing, but very useful for older patrons who might slip over in the shower or near the toilet (which does seem to become wet after showering.)

Lovely renovated hotel. Great mix of fresh and trendy and oldy-worldy. Situated in a great position. Easy walking to city, National Museum and other attractions. The staff are young and very helpful but didn't quite get how booking for breakfasts works. We ate in their Italian restaurant Bicicletta which was excellent. The rooms are a little dark (dark […] purple walls and grey and white zigzag carpets) but they are comfortable. All in all, a lovely stay and we would stay there again. Mehr

I was glad it was only for one night. I was glad to get out. Room was claustrophobic corridors dark and poorly maintained which made it look like a seedy hotel. Not value for money . T

The Diamant in Canberra is a great little hotel in walking distance to cafes and the city. The rooms have a nice atmosphere, a subtle designer look that is a step up from the regular smart hotel fit-out. Stay a couple of days and take advantage of the gym (or Fitness First pass), and don't forget to have breakfast around the corner (cant remember the […] name but it used to be "as nature intended" and if you like Thai food, walk up to Alice's Restaurant in Civic. Like most eatery's Alice's is BYO so after dinner walk home and have a drink in the Hotel Bar - great atmosphere. Mehr

Stayed at this hotel whilst in Canberra for a conference, and the property suited my needs perfectly. Lovely looking 'boutique' accommodation in a heritage building. My room was compact, but for one person it was just right. The bed was very comfortable, room amenities were great, including my favorite T2 tea bags! Bathroom was lovely, except for the […] glass partition on the shower. It lacked a door, there was just an opening where the door should be. Therefore water from the beautiful rain head shower ran all over the bathroom floor, and even onto the carpet of the room. I managed by rolling up the spare towel and using it as an extra bath mat. This is my only negative comment, everything else was excellent. The restaurant was great, property facilities were attractive including outdoor courtyard, and it was close to the centre of town. It also has a couple of nice cafes/coffee shops nearby. Mehr

The location of the hotel is very convenient. The hotel is quite modern with the rooms being recently updated. We stayed in room 127 (lower ground floor). The room was quite small. Very small I must say - just a touch bigger than a king size bed. Also there was a café outside with the tables right under the room's window. In the winter it's not a problem […] 'cos it' freezing and no one sits outside. But in the summer I imagine it could be quite noisy. Mehr

The internet gave the impression the hotel had been recently built whereas actually the foyer was the only new part. the building was old and tired. The fridge in the room did not work and we requested as per the information provided to have it emptied...this did not happen. As i am diabetic I required the fridge for my use not for drinks. Spent a night in Canberra. Love the decor of this hotel. Staffs are very friendly. The room size is a bit too small. The environment is not too pleasant at the moment as there is a construction site very very closed to the hotel. Surprise there is no wi-fi connection in room for this type of hip hotel. Impressed with the magazines provided by the hotel […] for EACH room as they just fit my taste like " habitus", "luxury travel". I give lot of points to that. My wife and self stayed over on a recent visit to Canberra. The hotel is an old, low rise, accommodation? building so the ambiance is more relaxed and clubby than the grand hotel variety. It was pleasant to see Romy toiletries provided in the bath room ( we paid more for a room with bath ) . The Tea2 bags are quite unusual in hotels. Room is clean except the welcome apple is kind of rotten. Selection of DVDs can be improved. Generally, still very happy with this place.

The Diamant offers friendly, excellent service in a setting which is so much more individual and interesting than the bland sameness of many larger hotels. We felt very comfortable, enjoyed the dinner and breakfast we had in the dining area, and will certainly book at Diamant again when we next visit Canberra.

A heritage hotel with up-to-date comfort. Quiet location, but close to Lake Burley Griffin and scenic walks. Staff very friendly ,professional and informative. All amenities available.

We stay in Canberra often and tried the Diamant for the first time last weekend. It was very comfortable and the staff most obliging. The only 2 criticisms were: 1. the hallways and doorways had chips in the walls and on the wood work. 2.The parking facility is not very convenient We would however stay there again. The breakfast was very good.

Modern, well positioned hotel. However, service in the restaurant was slow and average at best and the rooms, for what you are paying were FAR too small, and we had a Deluxe room!! Could not recommend.

This was a nicely appointed hotel walking distance to ANU. The rooms were comfortable and enough spacen for 1 to 2 people. A benefit was the free wireless internet in the lobby, which you could get in the room as well. There were no restaurants around the hotel though, and the hotel didn't have a restaurant in it, so it does take some wandering to find […] food. Mehr

This is a cool designer hotel with masses of black wood and glass with contrasting walls and interesting modern art pieces. The style is slightly minimalist but unlike so many "boutique" establishments, the staff were welcoming, friendly and really helpful. The bedroom was large and extremely comfortable - and, vitally, quiet so great nights' sleep […] was had. Great shower too. Continental breakfast (served in the bar whilst they recover from the fire which spead onto the property and damaged the restaurant) was better value than most business hotels and nicely presented. Free wifi in lobby was a bonus. The location is just a few minutes walk from most of central Canberra but a bit of a trek to Parliament itself (but, then, isn't that true of anwhere in Canberra!). Frankly a reasonably priced and much better bet to the big formula chain hotels you'ld otherwise go to. Long may it continue in its slightly quirky style! Mehr

The separate appartments of the hotel are beautiful, but access to them is very difficult. The neighborhood is extremely hostile to hotel guests: they observe you and if you want to load your baggage into your car and have your car therefore parked only for a few minutes closely to your appartment they will massively cry at you and threaten you. I travel 200 days/year and try to book always via hotels.com, when in the reception most of the time I see that I am allocated the smallest and noisy rooms available. I stayed at room 132, in the basement extremely small and by the door where all hotel cleaning traffic went by. Very, very expensive bkfst, overall not worth the price
