Matrix Hotel - Edmonton

Das Hotel war sehr zentral, ein negativ Punkt war das Frühstück das nur bis 0900 serviert wurde.

Hotel lobby is quaint and classy. The foyer lounge area is quite nice, but rather empty. The rooms were nicely renovated, although the second room was smaller than the first and had a ttiny bathroom with an unsightly sliding door.

The room rate was far to high for the quality of the hotel. Front desk was understaffed and comfort of the room was far below expectations. Fire place did not work, satellite tv complicated.

Noticed that the mouldings and door frames were in need of repair. Carpeting is starting to show high traffic areas. But all in all a very nice hotel with friendly staff. Will stay there again. Would highly recommend the platinum suite...very nice.

While many of the amenities offered by the Matrix are delightful, be warned it would appear cost savings has been targeted by supply each room with one (1) ply bathroom tissue. Bring your own.

Overall stay was good. Front hotel staff could use some happy pills..... and maybe the hotel could spend some money and invest in some quality toilet paper.... If you decide to stay there bring your own.

I spent my first weekend in Edmonton (Canada itself even) at the Matrix Hotel. It's a very chic and cozy spot where I could visit over and over again. Continental breakfast was above sub-par, happy hour included beverages and light appetizers and finally the Wild Flower restaurant for dinner was spot-on! The evening wine and cheese tasting was the one (1) disappointment. Chunks of ordinary cheese dumped on a place with biscuits (not even) slices of baguettes along side the blandest and highly watered salsa was "bush leaque" at best. Offering clients a limit of two(2) glasses of low end wine was so unenventful I laughted at the absurdity of the situation. Next […] time I won't waste my time but will go out to a nice wine bar. The hotel was quite nice but the bathtub would not drain. that was the one bad thing about the room. Otherwise and enjoyable stay.

This hotel has to be one of my worst stays ever! There was not enough parking available, which was very frustrating! The room seems to have alot of upgrades BUT what is with the bathroom door? It offers no privacy at all! The room seemed clean until I opened the curtains & was met with several lady bugs! The menu for room service was so over priced […] & did not offer a great selection! The rooms have next to no sound proofing, so unless you are a deep sleeper do not expect to sleep in! So if you are looking for a comfortable get away, DO NOT stay here! This hotel is over priced for the quality of the rooms! I will not recommend this hotel to ANYONE! Mehr

The hotel is expensive but is not well-maintained or well-equipped enough to justify the rate. Rooms are a bit small and beds have those small pillows usually found in cheaper hotels. The parking is small and crowded and some places are reserved for other businesses. When I ordered room service I was told that the room menu was obsolete one so I had […] to change my order. It was delivered by a bellboy who did not know about the bill, the food was cold, the cold beverage was lukewarm and there was no silverware for the dessert. But it was very expensive. There are other hotels nearby with a better value, like the Westin or Delta. Mehr

Great room for the price....only dislike really was the sliding door to the bathroom...I prefer something that offers a bit more privacy. We also did not know (until we asked) if we could park in the covered area of parking...it said 'reserved for valet service'...but when we asked, we were told any guests can park there..that would have been nice to […] know sooner. I also did not see any carts to move your luggage on to and from your room/vehicle....I would imagine they had them but not too obvious....Really great location...stunning lobby with fireplace...very nice ambiance...and the Continental breakfast in the morning had quite a lovely assortment of choices and was laid out beautifully...great options available in the coffee machine that freshly ground your beans, made hot chocolate, tea, etc etc....very beautiful presentation of breakfast selections. If you are looking for a hotel that has friendly, helpful staff who are courteous and hospitable, look no further.

I think this is the only boutique hotel in Edmonton and its close to the downtown core so its convenient if you don't have a car. The breakfast is great and staff was great too. I would stay here again.

my stay at the matrix was better than previous hotels. we got upgraded which was most appreciated having 2 children with my mother and i. the only downfall was that they booked me into a single king room when i had requested 2 double beds. the hotel was booked up that weekend so we never got the seperate beds despite my complaint. all in all, it worked […] out very well and was completely satisfied with the hotel itself. will definately stay again! My husband and I booked two nights at the Matrix for its convenient downtown location and updated modern decor. Though we did not encounter them often, all the staff we dealt with was very professional and efficient. The bed was pretty firm -- ok for me but not for my husband. Would have preferred another (non feather) pillow choice already in the room. […] Wildflower restaurant (in the hotel) is extremely overpriced and mediocre. Will stay here again. Mehr

My 21-year old son and myself stayed there over Thanksgiving weekend. Overall, we found the room pleasant, exept for the bathroom door, which was a sliding one. Not great for intimacy! It was very noisy on Saturday night as there were groups of youths sharing rooms, one of which was next door to ours. I was awaken at 3:30 am by people talking very loud. […] Before I could fall asleep again, someone pulled the emergency lever at around 4:00. Luckily our floor was not evacuated, but we waited around for a while not sure if we had to go down in our pj or not! Not the most restful night. I really enjoyed breakfast and the wine / cheese tasting. Staff was very courteous and helpful. The apples on the reservation counter is a nice touch. Mehr

We stayed 2 nights and really enjoyed the complimentry breakfast which to our surprize even included eggs, breakfast potatoes and a wide selection of hot beverages (not just the regular fruit, toast and cereal other places offer). There is a lot of parking available. Our only complaint is that someone set off the fire alarm (twice!) between 4am and […] 4:30am on the second night! We love this hotel, and can see why Expedia users would rate it so highly. They have great perks (free wine and cheese, free hot breakfast), super comfy rooms, and amazing service. We've stayed at the Matrix 4 times now and plan to be back again soon.

Pleasant and helpful staff. Free breakfast was great for the price. Convenient location. U.S. TV stations available.

Lovely hotel and quite possibly the friendliest staff I've ever encountered. Only complaints I would have (and I'm really nitpicking here) are that the elevators are a little slow and the bathroom lights are very bright and don't have dimmers.

I loved Matrix. The breakfast was huge and fantastic; the bed was comfy, the bath was spotless and laid in it forever; and my husband made use of the fitness centre. Great staff, beautiful furnishings, very clean.

From downtown, it,s a little far. Of course, within my walk. Nearthe hotel. there are some cafes, so it,s good. Free breakfast is also nice.

Great hotel. Rooms are clean, staff is very helpful and location is great for downtown and/or LRT access.

We have stayed at the Matrix in Edmonton for 3 or 4 visits now when we go shopping in Edmonton for a Holiday. The staff is always helpful, and our little dog has come to love riding up and down the elevator. The included breakfast is superb, when we stated dissapointment at running out of croissants, the manager brought some to our table for us. The […] cereal bar makes a great night snack, too. I love the Matrix. I stay there on every occasion I am in Edmonton, and love it every time. The hotel is very modern, with great decor in all the rooms. It's has a new, fresh feel to it, compared to some older hotels that are still stuck in the 80's. Located in the heart of downtown Edmonton, the Matrix is a clean, well designed hotel. It has been comfortable and enjoyable to stay at this hotel.

Great Hotel to stay at, free breakfast was good. Room was nice however, there is limited parking An overflow lot on the side has limited backing out space especially when you have a large pickup truck..otherwise great hotel.

There was no blankets on our bed. Said none of the 4th floor had blankets unless asked for. Very very weird!! T.V. did not work!! Even thought the T.V. was advertised as part of the hotel pkg. we did not receive a refund. UnpleaSANT stay mainly because of the bed.

I found the Matrix to be an excellent hotel - small and newly updated it provided me w/everything I needed. The complimentary Sunday breakfast buffet was great.
