George Hotel - London

Nice people and a decent breakfast. My room was very small, and the stairs are narrow and there is no lift. The doors are also rather thin and you can hear activity through them. But this is competently run, breakfast is hot and cooked to order, and the location -- near the British Museum and King's Cross/Euston/St. Pancras -- is very convenient. The hotel is recently renovated and everything is brand new and very comfortable! Convenient walking distance to centre if Exeter. Highly recommended!

Great hotel location to connect with early morning Euro Star departure. Rooms very small and hotel has no lift

My single room was tiny, even smaller than my room in uni halls. Walls were very thin and people were coming and going in the corridor and banging their doors which kept me awake for a bit. However, breakfast was decent and included in the price, there's free wi-fi and you can leave your luggage in the reception after you've checked out (none of which […] can be said about Travelodge for instance). Bathroom was shared but I was surprised at how clean it was. What made me pick this hotel was its close proximity to St Pancras and the office where I had my interview in the morning. For those outside the UK, there's this phenonenom in England where you can get a hotel room, but no toilet, shower or bath. Instead, you get one toilet, shower or bath to a dozen or so rooms. Well, the George is like this, and if you can deal with that, then for the price, I highly recommend this place. the room was really small and people shared bathroom and toliet which was acceptable because the price was cheap.However, you will need a key to open your rm instead using a card! anyway, it is near kingX station and really near to rusell square tube. so if you can bear previous things,it is a good place for short stay.

When we arrived at the hotel on 09/01/2011, which was booked for 1 night to see a show in London, we checked in and were given our room key for the third floor. (No lifts in this hotel and staircase from 2nd th 3rd floor is VERY steep!). Upon reaching our room, there was no ensuite, which we had expressly ask and paid for by phone. So we trooped back […] to the reception and after a bit of an argument, they gave us the key to room 014 on the ground floor. The room was long and narrow with awful lighting and was really tired looking and in dire need of decorating. The towels supplied were small and as tired looking as the room. The bed was ok, the TV was ok. The ensuite smelled awful, (a cross between dampness and onions! Honest! The breakfast was ok, but all in all, the whole package was not worth what we paid for 1 night. The hotel is in a good location in a crescent and is about 10 minutes walk from Russell Square underground. There are cafes and pubs nearby which seemed ok. The hotel looks nice enough from the outside, but I assure you, the picture of the room they show on their website is nothing like the two rooms we saw! Mehr

Loud hallways and surrounding neighborhoods. Lights didn't work well in bathroom; very poorly cleaned -- water all over the floor. Sink had faucets with separate hot and cold dispensers. Extremely overpriced.

I loved the George Hotel. Bare in mind that its not all fancy and 5 star, but you don't pay 5 star prices. I stayed there prior to going on a tour which put me up in the Thistle Euston; a "nicer" and more expensive hotel. If price was the same between the two I would still choose the George. The staff was extremely helpful. The breakfast was fantastic. […] The rooms were good; although the bathroom was small, but most are in England. It was convienent to the tube and rail stations. Rent, billigt, nära och ganska tyst för att vara så centralt! God frukost, så mycket man ville ha. Trevlig personal, både i reception och i frukostmatsal. Inget för den med större midjemått eller ont i knät. I så fall får man försäkra sig om rum på lägre våningsplan. Själv hade jag rum på översta delen av högsta våningen, utan hiss förstås. Å dra på venneferie i London er gøy og man skal ikke nødvendigvis belage seg på lange opphold på hotellet. Om vinteren er det viktig at det er varmt på rommet når man kommer hjem om kvelden og at det er renslig og gode senger. En god engelsk frokost om morgenen settes pris på. Alt dette svarte til forventningene på Hotel George. Det lå i et stille strøk […] litt unna de mest trafikkerte veiene, men likevel med kort avstand til puber, spisesteder og butikker. Undergrundsbanen er bare et lite stykke unna og ønsker man å spasere til sentrum (Oxford street), tar ikke det all verdens tid heller. Man er alltid litt usikker når man innkvarterer seg på et hotell av enkel standard, men dette svarte helt til forventningene og jeg fikk ingen leie overraskelser. Prisen er også hyggelig. Mehr

Bra rum med en mycket liten toalett, men rent och snyggt. Bra förvaring för kläder. TV och vattenkokare på rummet. Frukosten var fantastisk med engelsk frukost och vit eller grov toast, flingor, kaffe och te.

kostar inte så väldigt mycket för att vara ett hotell väldigt centralt. badrum och toalett var mycket rent, dock så var det inget enskilt.

Personalen var vänlig och tillmötesgående. Rummet jag fick var dock av ganska mediokert kvalitet - fönstret var så gammalt och slitet att det inte gick att stänga, och jag kunde inte få kallt vatten från kranen. Plus för att det fanns ett litet kassaskåp i rummet för värdesaker samt välfungerande tv. Det finns ingen hiss, så jag fick släpa upp min resväska […] i smala och branta trappor, och man får dela badrum och toalett, vilka dock var fräscha. Hotellets läge mitt i Bloomsbury var bra, det finns bra kommunikationer, och det var lugnt med en liten park precis utanför. Mehr
