Roadstar Inn - Madison

the room need some updating. More to offer at what they call a free breakfast. Needs to be cleaned better.

I like the stay and will consider it next time and will recommend to others.

The room and hotel was small but we expected that. However we booked for two QUEEN beds and got two FULL beds.

Upon entering I was a little unnerved about the sign stating no hats, hoodies or sunglasses can be worn, face had to be totally visible. Made me wonder what kind of neighborhood we were in. The room was average size for a hotel and clean. There was no garbage can, luckily we had an empty box that we tossed our garbage into so we didn't have to leave […] it laying around for the maid to pick up. friendly staff, clean rooms, great prices

This was a pretty dirty hotel, dirty sheets, dirty shower, one towel. I'd choose somewhere else in the future.

room was very spacious and quiet. the bath tub could use some good scrubbing around the grout. rates very good.

We were well pleased with our stay. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the price was right. I would recommend to anyone who is just looking for a reasonablly priced place to sleep.

There was a water problem in the wall next to the shower wall, with mold in it.

The hotel itself if pretty outdated but for our purposes it was just to stay overnight and crash, not to hang around. Check in and out was easy and it was so close to any shopping or dining. We were looking for a hotel on the west side of Madison, and Roadstar was the least expensive, so we were very pleasantly surprised at all the amenities. It was clean, the people were friendly, and our large room had a refrigerator and microwave. Very handy!

The motel itself was clean and had a very nice and sharp gal as receptionist. Answered all our questions plus added some suggestions. But, the walls are paper thin and could hear absolutely everything above (we were on 1st floor) and next door. Plus next door attempted to get into our room by the adjoining door. Most deals that look to good to be true......are. This hotel is no exception. I could get into all the details of the stay, including what appeared to be blood on the wall, the disgusting carpet and the questionable characters hanging around the hotel, but instead I will just recommend my fellow travelers spend an extra 10-15 dollars per night and […] stay elsewhere. This was the only hotel available in the vicinity the week I traveled. It was clean enough but quite outdated. The sheets and bedding were very worn, the carpet was in bad shape and the closet area still stunk of stale cigarette smoke. The location was easy and the staff polite but the first thing I saw was the sign on the door asking people entering […] to remove sunglasses, hoodies, hats and anything else covering the face...that doesn't really give you a warm fuzzy! Right away the old school door key freaked me out because its always nice to know that nobody else could have made a copy of your room key... But I got over it. We went to a concert in Madison & needed a place to crash close to the highway. It was a lot cheaper then other options & perfect for what we needed. I found Roadstar while looking for an alternative hotel since the one holding the event I was attending was sold out. Roadstar had inexpensive rooms, and were even cheaper when paid through hotels.com. I thought the place would be pretty dumpy, but they far exceeded my expectations. The hotel staff was very courteous and the hotel was in decent condition. The bed was comfortable to sleep on, and the wireless Internet was fast. However, the carpet in the room was very dirty. My feet were dirty after being in the room for five minutes. The hotel is in an area that I would not recommend hanging around after dark. I would recommend […] this hotel for a cheap night’s stay passing through town, but not for staying a week for business as I did. Mehr

Roadstar Inn provided a good budget solution to our need to find a decent motel on the west side of Madison. It was clean and safe, and the room met all basic requirements.

It was cheap~ but the overall appearance of the room made you think it just might be crawling with roaches. I never seen any but I could hardly sleep thinking they might start crawling on me!

We used the motel as a stop over to rest but not sleep, we decided to not stay the night. We were not comfortable with the idea of staying the night. The locaton was convenient to fast food, groceries, and shopping. The ceiling appeared to have water damage, it was cracked and looking like it could fall onto the bed! This motel is what I would call rough in appearance. The shower was so narrow and the shower curtain rod was not curved so the shower curtain would cling to my legs during my shower . . . ewwwwwwwwwww. The carpet was so deeply soiled that it caused the bottom of my feet to get dirty!!!

I have used this hotel before, and my latest trip made the thrid time I had stayed there. I use it mainly for the cost, it is cheap. The first two times I was willing to over look certain things, but this last time changed that. I will never use this hotel again. To start the people who seemed to hang around the hotel seemed gang related, the first […] two times I did not notice this. My room was disgusting, empty chip bag behind furniture, food splatter on the walls, and spitwades on the bathroom wall. The other two times my room was in better shape but still not the cleanest hotel room. The halls of the hotel smelled terrible, this was also the case the first two time only much stronger this time. Over all this last time I found the hotel to be dirty, and disgusting not to mention I found it unsafe to the point I did not feel comfortable leaving my family alone. I think in the future I will spend the extra for a safer, cleaner hotel my family will enjoy. Never again will I use a Road Star Inn. Mehr

This is a hole in the wall. Run down, poor condition. My wife and I like to both read in bed, but one of us (me) could not, because the bedlamp was not working. I called the front desk and they did provide a replacement bulb. Still, no light. Then I discovered why. It was not only unplugged, there was no nearby socket. I gave up and watched TV. In the […] middle of the night the fire alarm went off, rousting us from bed. There was no fire. And in the morning, when I went down to ask the clerk where the nearest place to grab some breakfast was, he didn't have a clue. Tried looking something on the internet for me, came up with a place that was some distance, and it turned out to be a sandwich shop, not open for breakfast. Don't bother with this place. Mehr

My wife and I have over the years stayed in this hotel more times than I can remember. It is first of all Madison's lowest cost hotel, but most important to us is its proximity to the West Side businesses and friends we deal with, several strip malls, including the huge West Towne, a huge Woodman's supermarket and gas stations cheaper than those downtown. […] It's not fancy, but is adequate for our purposes. If you want to be pampered, go elsewhere. Altho they don't advertise their WiFi because it's not uniform throughout the hotel, they put me close to the server, and Internet worked like a charm in the room. Thanx! Wanted a room w/a refrigerator. The 1 in the room has a broken door. The desk clerk was very helpful in bringing another min-frig to the room, but it wouldn't fit in the opening under the counter. It stuck out in the way. He moved me to a different room. Frig. worked, but small TV. w/a lousy cable connection. Place stunk of smoke, no coffee pot in room, […] just not a pleasurable experience. For how cheap it is, it's good. Definitely not a Hilton.

Overall the hotel is dingy and not kept up. The sign out front says you can't wear hoodies, sunglasses, or have anything covering your face when you walk into the hotel. They must have that sign for a reason. The room was dirty. The carpet was tacky, not quite wet and not quite sticky, just tacky like something trying to dry. The carpet was a maroon […] color except for a one inch white strip along the wall-closer inspection showed this to be dirt and dust. We unplugged the fridge because it made too much noise. The parking lot party at 100am woke us up until a car alarm went off, then the party moved indoors, seemingly right outside our door. There was a cigarette butt between the bed and wall-looked like someone removed the filter to do something else with it. There were red spots on the door in the bathroom-looked like blood. I could go on and on but I won't. I give it two stars instead of a negative five because it is cheap and convenient to the highway and the staff is nice. I won't stay there again. Mehr

Towels smelled like they were left in the washer for 2 days before drying. Carpets were filthy and non- smoking room had ashes on the floor in the bathroom. Very low budget. I like the red roof inn on the other side of town much better for the same price.

The hotel Roadstar Inn in Madison smelled of smoke, had no listings of tv channels, no blow dryer, or a clock in the rom

We had a smoke free room, but all our sheets had burn holes in them, the beds were old and hard. Otherwise it was ok.

I always get nervous when I read reviews, and felt the same when I was looking at Roadstar, but it was completely fine. Free wifi, a very average breakfast, the bed was fine, the staff was nice. The only complaint I had, was that it seemed like someone had been smoking in the bathroom, but I guess that is not really the hotel's fault. I will stay here […] again. Friendly staff. Room was clean, and conveniently equipped with microwave, small refrigerator, and wi-fi. Beds were fairly comfortable, but pillows were too thick and firm for my preferences. Motel is convenient for accessing shopping, and its location on the Beltline Hwy. makes it an easy drive to most other Madison attractions.

The hotel uses old fashioned metal room keys, which I found quaint. I have stayed here on several different occasions. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and include fridge/microwave. I have always encountered friendly clerks. For breakfast they offer coffee, pastries and bagels. Sometimes noisy kids run through the hallway, but that's the fault of […] parents, not the hotel. Their free wi-fi internet is adequate. Overall the hotel is a decent place to stay for a good value. Mehr

I was a little nervous, as a woman traveling alone. The rate was SOOO good that I wondered what I'd be getting when I got there. Surprise! It might not have been fancy at all, but it was safe and clean and the staff was very nice. I had a good night's sleep and it didn't cost a lot. YAY!

I've stayed in this hotel before. It's very close to where I needed to be and close to Odana Road and Whitney Way, which is really nice. I got a fantastic weekend deal on it and so was happy with the whole package. The bathroom was clean but the carpet in the room felt a little sticky. The soap was a very thin bar but sufficient.
